Linking to Mature Forum threads

Hey, I'm at work here, and may josh around here and there, but I really don't need to click an "anonymous" link and have an interesting DVD cover or three pop into frame. Can we suggest that linkers to that section make that abundantly clear?

Thanks.

Sounds fair enough. I hate pop ups too. Perhaps a little information about the link would help.

weargle 05-15-02 01:49 PM

Hmmmm, one week and no response?

twikoff 05-15-02 02:04 PM

i think the general consensus would be not to click 'anonymous' links in a mature forum at work ;)

I think weargle was talking about people in the other DVDTalk forums linking to the Mature forum without making it clear that they were doing so.

I haven't noticed any that didn't make it clear that it was a link to a thread in Mature. I'm pretty sure one rule of Mature Forum is you aren't supposed to talk about Mature Forum, but I may be wrong(I'm at work so I shouldn't check).

Mature Forum = Fight Club? :D

Agreed.

I also thought this was already understood to be part of the rules, but perhaps it wasn't. We'll add it to the Mature forum guidelines.

Thanks for bringing this to our attention.

That's what I meant by my Fight Clubish reference.

There is a sticky in Mature titled "Mature Forum Ground Rules - READ BEFORE POSTING". One of the rules:

Please keep the discussions which occur here in the MATURE forum area HERE. Although this IS a public forum, we'd like you all to take responsibility for creating a safe, open, and honest environment where people can post without it 'getting back to them' out side of this forum area.
That's why I only mention to continue the discussion in the thread on the subject in Mature(without posting a link) in the couple of threads I closed in Other that were dups of something in Mature.

Hmm. I interpreted that to mean don't bring information about members you learned in the Mature forum into your posts in the rest of the forum. Ie, to discourage things like, "this from a person who says he likes to wear women's underwear ;)" in a thread in the Hardware forum. :)

To me, it didn't specifically address the issue of posting links to threads in Mature in the rest of the forums.

I see your point now, though I still think it could be clearer. :)

Yeah, you're probably right. :)

Anyone else see the humor in a "sticky" in the Mature Forum?

Also, thanks for adding the guideline.

Anyone else see the humor in my joke of Mature Forum = Fight Club reference? I figured someone would laugh at that one, but no :(

Can't you just keep an eye on the "forum id". Fer instance, I know that Other is #9. By knowing the number of "Mature" you could avoid clicking on an anonymous link... I think...
