The " in search threads...

Here's an annoying thread for you to flame:

I get frustrated when I'm doing a search for a thread and I know I'm typing in the correct search word but am getting back nothing.

It always ends up being because in the original thread the word I'm looking for was in between " " which, I assume, the search engine sees as additinal letters.

Any way to make it so when we're searching for a word that may or may not have been in quotes we don't have to type them in?

Just a thought. :)

what gets me is the fact that you can't do numbers. its always throws me off.

1234

You can do numbers, but there's a 3 character minimum req. for any search.

Do a search on 1234 and this thread will come up.

If you're looking for a thread that has "Movie" with the quotes, you can search for Movie both with quotes and without quotes using the following string:

*Movie*

This is, of course, documented on the Search Page, right under the Keyword field:

Add asterisks (*) to use wild cards in your search (*bullet* matches vBulletin etc.)

True. So how do you search for username "X"?

By putting X in the Search By User Name box, with Match exact name selected. The 3-character requirement doesn't apply to exact username searches.
