Calling shenanigans in Other

I'm calling shenanigans (yes, childish but funny) in Other. Why is there a sticky for an Austin meet at the top of the forum? I thought months ago it was decided to have one sticky for all the get togethers and in that thread have a link to the specific get together threads.

Now I know this is a moderator that stickied his own thread but I don't think that deserves any special treatment over other get togethers.

And this is nothing against the moderator or anything else, I just feel we need to keep in line with rules that were made.

The reason the rule came into effect was solely because of the amount of Other Forum meets at that time. I think there were a couple of other (non-meet) threads that were sticky then too, and because of this, there were an excessive amount of threads stuck to the top of the page. Since then, we have generally kept the meet threads in the "official" thread, and not made a sticky out of the other ones. There have been a few cases where an individual has requested that a thread be made sticky (meet threads, specifically) and we allowed their thread to be at the top for a good amount of time--even after the rule went into effect.

I will unstick the thread now though. I don't want people to think I am receiving special treatment. :)

i thought the idea was to keep everything in the 'official' thread

and then when we are down to the last week or so before the actual meet.. it gets stickied until after the meet..

that system seems to work pretty effectively

btw.. Im still waiting for someone to post in the official thread asking for a link to be added :D

Then you must be blind! It's been there for 5 hours! (or, like I suspect, I'm invisible)

I don't see you asking for a link, though.

I call shenanigans too... how ironic is it that this thread was made a sticky in here? ;)
