Why was happy's thread closed?

I'd email a mod but I'm not sure which one to email since there was no 'smoking gun' left in the thread to explain why its closed.

I'm sure this thread will be closed too, and that's fine, but if you expect people to email you in regards to a questionable decision about a thread, you oughta leave your mark.

happycamper 03-02-02 12:14 AM

Yeah, I don't quite understand how the "ask jack/jules/hotaru thread" can stay open but not mine.

I must not be cool enough.

McHawkson 03-02-02 12:14 AM

I was wondering about that, too... I don't think it deserved to be locked. Please unlock that thread.

That one was closed.

open it!!! I want the pics :D

Boot 03-02-02 12:15 AM

I agree. If a thread is closed, there should be an explanation. I see "Ask whoever about whatever" threads all the time. I was just posting to that thread again, and then boom! locked. Why?

You ought to wait long enough for a mark to be left.

El Scorcho 03-02-02 12:16 AM

For what reason, X? When did we start closing "Ask ... " threads?

I had about 6 pics ready to go when they closed the thread. Too bad that it's okay for OTHER people to have these threads and not me.

I waited about 2 minutes and saw nothing.

JMLEWIS1 03-02-02 12:17 AM

the "I'm drunk, look at me" threads are kind of annoying, I can see why they would be closed...just my opinion :)

Don't take me in the wrong tone -- I'm merely trying to figure this out, not trying to start s**t.

In the past I've seen the reason and then the lock, but not the lock and then the reason. I waited for a reason but thought one wasn't coming, hence my creation of this thread.

About a week ago. You can do a search and let us know if we missed any. I know I closed one today, someone else closed one this morning I believe. Several had been closed previously.

McHawkson 03-02-02 12:19 AM

Can she start another thread stating "pics of happycamper/DTSC/etc..."??

4KRG 03-02-02 12:19 AM

Mr. X sir would it be ok to start a new thread, a poll acutally, which swimsuit looks best on happy? :D

Yeah, because I do them all the time.

More like a joke thread since everyone else can have these "hey, look at me threads" and the "ask so-and-so about absolutely nothing" threads.

But it just makes it look like other people get special treatment here.

X, please don't feel like I'm attacking you or anything, but I'd just like to raise this question: what is wrong with those types of threads? They are fun conversations that anyone can participate in, and they haven't been getting out of control or anything in Other. One will show up every now and then. It's not like they've been taking over the forum. You may see it as padding, but I don't see how it's padding. People are posting and responding with content, not simply one word responses that have no context in the framework of the conversation. What is wrong with these threads?

X 03-02-02 12:22 AM

I would have no problem with something other than an "Ask ..." thread. Believe me, I didn't want to close this one. But there have been some really inane ones closed and then every single one that doesn't get closed triggers an angry email to mods from a previously closed attention seeker.

You are so wrong. Please review the "Ask ..." threads over the last few days and let us know where we missed one.

McHawkson 03-02-02 12:24 AM

Allright, happycamper, you can start a thread with different title besides "ask any question" or "I'm drunk". Go ahead.

Furthermore, there was no reason at all given in Jack/Hotaru/Jules thread. It was just closed. If new rules are going to be enforced, then it should be noted in the thread at least for a little while. You can't close one thread, post the reason in it, and then close the future threads expecting us to all know why. It takes a little while to get used to new rules.

That being said, I'm not a fan of those threads anyway and usually don't bother reading them to begin with. I was just curious why, in this instance, it was closed.

X 03-02-02 12:29 AM

I could have sworn I closed that one. I sure intended to, must have got interrupted.

No worries.

Are "association" threads of all kinds also not allowed now? Because frankly, there's a lot more to offer in any of the "ask" threads than will ever be offered in the "association" threads.

happycamper 03-02-02 12:31 AM

Sorry X...I won't let it happen again.

Then again, I've never done it before.
