Unable to contact site

Geoff,

I've noticed that I'm often unable to access this site when I'm on my Earthlink dial-up account. Right now, I'm going through a public proxy service and that let's me get through, but it's painfully slow.

A ping and tracert turned up these results:

Code:

C:\>ping dvdtalk.com

Looks to me like a serious routing issue at your ISP (notice how it jumps backand forth between two IPs). Might want to contact them about this.

Your traceroute looks totally screwed up. You get the circular IPs as Jason mentioned very early. It looks like the problem would be directly at your ISP and their routing at the dialup end. You better talk to them.

How about trying a dialup number out of the area?

Yeah, you guys are right. For some reason last night, I was thinking tracert worked backwards from the target server, so it looked to me the routing was getting f'ed up 1 hop from Geoff's server and I remembered his provider was having some problems with their router recently.

Of course, just thinking about it, tracert couldn't possibly work that way. I guess that's what I get for trying to troubleshoot computer stuff at 4 AM.
