Suggestion:This Week in DVD Talk 3Yrs Ago...

Kleinman et al.,

How about a box on the main page which has snippets of and links to discussion board threads 3 years ago?

I'm sure that you guys are busy already, but if you guys run out of stuff to put on the main page and there's interest...

How about this: A dynamically generated "This Second Three Years Ago" sticky that always loads the most recently altered thread from that moment three years ago.

Unfortunately, no threads exist (on the server at least) from that far back. The closest you can get to is April '99 in the DVD Reviews forum. Click to see the oldest posts

Every once in a while, we have to purge the databases because a forum is too full. This happens most frequently in DVDTalk and Other because of how busy they are. And then, some of the forums weren't around in the beginning (Other, International, Book/Music/TV Talk, etc.).

Sorry.

Instead of looking back at message threads, how about a "This week in DVD 3 years ago" where it has a link to or a list of the highlighted DVDs from this week three years ago? That should be do-able, and it would also shed some light on titles people may have overlooked then and would be interested in now.

Reel.com has a new deal they are offering on preorders for the Tom Hanks, Meg Ryan romantic comedy - You've Got Mail. If you purchase the You've Got Mail for $19.99, they'll thrown in the soundtrack on CD free.
I did this! Not a bad CD either.

Thanks Todd!

Feh! Three years ago that was a rip off! A deal would have been:

"Reel.com just announced a FANTASTIC deal, free purchasing and shipping on ALL DVD's till April 21st, plus a $10 rebate per disc and a free bundt cake!!

1000!!!!!! - (4.22.99)
Woooohoooo! We're celebrating the 1000'th member to the DVD Talk Forum. It's fitting that it is today as we opened DVD Talk only 3 Months ago and in that short amount of time (call it Internet time) we've grown to 1000 forum members! Thanks to everyone who has been there since day 1, and all of you who help continue to make the forum such a great source of information and communication!!! Congratulations to "darksaber" who is our 1000th member, and gets himself a free DVD !
