sticky threads in other

there's an awful lot of sticky threads, are they really necessary?

Da Thrilla 11-04-01 12:07 AM

I'm with ya

Venusian 11-05-01 12:00 AM

i think once we get the ATL gathering date set you can drop the sticky and resticky it when its closer to the actual meet day (like in december)

Jackskeleton 11-08-01 04:15 AM

Yeah, the sticky threads are really going over board when there is more then 4 announcements.

The Orlando one deosn't need to stay up much longer.
It's tough to know what should be sticky and what shouldn't. I know there are a lot of them but I think they're still a good idea.

Da Thrilla 11-28-01 01:48 PM

Back to 5 now? Geez.

vaporware 11-28-01 03:27 PM

Why not just an announcements forum that's nothing but sticky threads? At the rate the other forum is going the entire first page will be nothing but stickys.

Blade 11-28-01 03:53 PM

I think I saw codefree suggest this somewhere else.

Why not just create a single sticky thread for Other forum get togethers, and then inside include links to all the different meeting threads.

That's what he did for the One and Only threads in DVDTalk.

I've been meaning to steal that idea for a while now. Perhaps this weekend.

:)

Venusian 11-28-01 06:11 PM

yeah thats a good idea

mikehunt 11-28-01 09:17 PM

what's even worse is the spelling mistakes in the thread titles
it should be meet, not meat

you dont get it, a few are about general get togethers, the others are about getting together to eat some otter meat

Whatever happened to the idea of "bottom stickies"? That way stuff like Survivor could be stuck to the bottom of the first page, and not always on top when only like 3-4 people are posting in it. One of the mods was talking about this before.

twikoff 11-30-01 09:03 AM

if a mod will make this thread sticky:

http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthr...hreadid=162709

we could get rid off all those sticky threads that are cluttering up the other forum right now

Blade 11-30-01 02:11 PM

I wonder if putting the locations in the title would make the thread too long?

That should let any potentially interested parties know what's coming up.

Maybe for a week if a new one is added, and/or right before one happens as a reminder?

Da Thrilla 02-05-02 02:57 AM

We are back to 5 sticky threads in Other again. So they going away was just for a little while?

There only seem to be four right now. And, one of them is for the Baltimore meet next week. Once that meet has come, it will be cut free and we'll be down to three. I'll speak with the other mods and see if they think the signature thread has been there long enough. If so, that'll cut it down a bit more.

With Geoff's blessing, this one has been unstuck. :)
