dvdtalk forum changes?
 

maybe this should be in the feedback forum.. but what new features were added
i was busy at work, and missed any discussion on this.. I looked around and didnt see anything about it

I see you get a (partial?) list of people currently in the forum at the top..

there seems to be a check mark over our name while we are posting??

what else?

Yeah well --- I see you are currently online right now, so the changes are there...

The changes just appeared in the last half hour or so. I really like the checkmarks that show who's online, but the forum has slowed to a crawl.

Added after crash: They seem to have crashed it too.

First DVDTalk crash I've ever seen.

I just did an update to the forum software and then did some file maintaince to hopefully fix a problem that was slowing things down.

Here's some of what's new in this release (there are some behind the scenes stuff too):

new more secure method for lost password routines
more secure routine for verifying email address
ability to click on a letter in the member list
'search' link not displayed in memberlist if user has no posts
Multiple Choice Polls
SQL Optimization on showthread, the option to disable/enable displaying the user's online status is no longer needed as there is no penalty for doing so
See who is browsing specific forums with you! Can be disabled
mark read per forum
Forum-search on forumdisplay

ok.. so the little check by the user name shows if the user is online.. but does that mean online in that specific forum, or on any dvdtalk forum?

I think it means anywhere online at the DVDtalk forum.

of course you can edit your profile to browse in invisible mode.. then it wouldnt ever look like your here

but since Im here at all times anyways.. no reason for me to try to hide it ;)

Don't forget the "forum leaders" link in the bottom right corner of the main page, shows a list of admins, super mods, and moderators.

Also, I think there is the option of marking a forum read instead of just marking them all read.
