Pop Up Ads!!!???
 

Geoff, Twice today i've gotten pop up ads on DVDTALK!!! ?!?! The first time i thought it was a fluke, maybe something on my desktop i didn't notice and maybe it just hopped up, but this i only had DVDtalk open! It happened in the "has anyone had a playcentric order arrive on time?" thread. this is the ad that came up:

The other pop up that happened earlier was experienced in the "other bargains" forum, but i can't be certain which thread, cause i simply dismissed it as not originating from DVDtalk.

Any ideas on how this happened?

Odds are your system is 'infected' by spyware.

DVD Talk does not run any Pop-up or Under ads!

I'm almost positive i don't have any adware on my system, but i'll double check. I just wanted to make sure no one had snuck one into a post somehow.

Hey, thanks for the link Geoff. I was about ready to reformat the 'ole hard drive because these ads were really getting on my nerves. That's a great program.

If it helps, I don't get them on my system while on line here.

Its been awhile since I scanned my pc for spyware, and noticed I've been getting a few popups here. Well I just scanned my pc and adaware found 59 files. :eek:

I think this issue should be brought to the attention of DVdtalk members. I never heard of spyware until this evening. My first assumption was "God damn DVDtalk -- i cant believe they have resorted to pop-up windows. If i wanted them, I would go look at some porn".

After scanning my system, if found over 100 items to be cleaned.
