The description of the Computer & DVD-Rom Forum is <i>"Discuss PC Hardware, Software, and Internet Technology"</i>.

These threads stand out and don't really need to be notified one by one. I sometimes answer them and sometimes include reference to the "proper" forum. But there seems to be a certain indulgence allowed; perhaps on the basis that fewer people read the Computer Forum. That has been shot down as a reason when it comes to other off-topic posts.

NB) I am not talking about (arguably marginal) purchase recommendations.

If Geoff is thinking of changing the focus of either Other or Computer & DVD-Rom could it please be clarified here and the descriptions changed to avoid uncertainty.

I think this is a good point. Perhaps we can use more diligence. It does get a bit tiring to move a lot of threads, but you are correct.
