Street dates
I'm aware I'm probably the only person that cares about this, but I've noticed a bunch of threads announcing stores that are breaking street dates in both the DVD Talk and DVD Bargain forums. I'm not sure if there's any sort of policy on promoting street date violations on DVD Talk, but it's becoming really rampant lately.
In the past day alone: http://dvdtalk.com/forum/showthread....hreadid=123360 http://dvdtalk.com/forum/showthread....hreadid=123080 http://dvdtalk.com/forum/showthread....hreadid=123284 There were also a few yesterday, but I'm too lazy to look them up. I know at least one DVD Talk member strongly disagrees with me on this, but when someone posts about a street date violation, it potentially shifts money away from those stores that abide by the 'rules' (yes, I know there's nothing illegal about street date violations), and that doesn't ring cool with me. I'm not looking for any sort of debate on street date violations in this thread, but I would like to hear comments from mods and admins, even if they don't agree with me. :) |
I go to the store with the best price, so I don't care either way about stores breaking street date. But can't stores that break street get in trouble with the dvd companies?

People who post stores which are breaking street dates are trying to do others a favor. I don't see where this is harming anyone here. This site does cater to the consumer right? If I'm wrong and DVDTalk cares more about the stores, then by all means shut those threads down. ;)

It just seems sleazy, at least to me.

I'm with Adam on this one. Is it as wrong as pimping bootlegs? Probably not, but it's shady.
