I recently changed my signature for a specific purpose and posted my reply. Then I changed it back the way it was.

After posting another message, I noticed that my changed signature (in the above mentioned reply) had reverted. What's up with that? Is my current signature reflected in all previous posts?

[Search Police: please feel free to direct me to the approproate thread. :) ]

Your sig changes throughout the system when you change it.

The best option is to go to that post and edit it. Chose the option to remove the signature and put in "your own" manually. Then it will be different. Kind of like this.

Yep, it's the same as with post counts and member statusses; because the thread pages are generated dynamically, they always contain the latest version of your profile information. So if you look at a thread from 3 months ago, it'll still show your post count and signature as they are now.

Just one of the quirks of VBulletin creating all its pages on the fly, as opposed to using "proper" HTML pages.

While we're on the subject of sigs, can we discuss maybe putting a limit on their length? I'm not naming names, but some of them annoyingly long.

I agree. When a sig is longer than the post itself 9 times out of 10 there is something very wrong. 3-4 lines seems more than sufficient.

I was going to save that for another time, but now that you mention it -- maybe I'll change my sig and put 20 or 30 smileys in it. Consider the global inpact on the forum!

And, yes, I'm only kidding! ;)

Thanks for the info, BTW.

haha, does anyone remember when I was messing with using the code feature and 10-20 line ASCII images? That was rather annoying...

is my current one ok?

HELP needed with vB code in Sig

OK, I *thought* I had followed the info for creating a sig with vB code correctly, but instead of opening to dvdprofiler where my DVD list is kept, it is putting www.dvdtalk.com/forum before my address!?? What am I doing wrong? I used the following code on my "profile" page (assuming that this can be copied and pasted OK here):

OtterPop's DVD Collection

I also uncheck the "automatically parse URLs" box before I post, but I know it has worked wrong both with and without that box checked. Any ideas? TIA

So near and yet so far....

.... you omitted the opening <b>"</b> is all.

OtterPops 06-16-01 06:30 PM

OK, now let's try this

Hopefully it will work now, I'm getting tired of changing it! It's not like I have 500 DVDs or anything! Thanks for the tip, Benedict.
