Why are these threads still open? I would like to believe that the moderators simply overlooked them but considering how long they have been opened, it seems that DVDTalk is endorsing bootleg DVDs which reflects very poorly on the site.

I don't know the issues specific to the review of bootlegs so I'm leaving the 1st and 3rd threads open and I'll let Geoff decide. The second link was focused on the acquisition of illegal materials, so I closed it.

Thank you for bringing this to my attention. Many members email moderators about problematic threads instead of taking us to task for inaction on the Feedback and Suggestions forum. Perhaps you should consider that course fo action.

Well, if you read the thread tat you link to http://www.dvdtalk.com/forum/showthr...threadid=98637 you would see that it says

The focus of this thread is to supply reviews of all of the latest Star Wars bootleg DVDs. Please do not turn this thread into a begging thread for bootleg source info. I would like everyone to note that any requests for bootleg source info posted in this thread will be denied any information and will only lead to this thread being closed either by myself or the mods.
So it is saying that no info of where to atain the boots will be given. How is this saying that dvdtalk supports boots?

The second post that you link to is people talking about how the diffrent versions are sold on ebay. Once again, at no time is dvdtalk saying "Hey, you have to get these!"

The third topic is one person asking how the Boot looks, and if it has any extra's on it. He got his answer, and then the thread dies. If a mod had come in and locked it, it would have been put back up to the top of page one.

I know that it sucks that some people on DVDTalk buy boots, but you cannot blame it on the people who run this site. Here is a short list of some of the bootleg topics that have been closed as of late.

Geoff has even posted directly to you in the past stating his views on bootleg meterial, but you seem to think he is lieing to you because you are always bringing up this topic.

You have been answered on this three times in the past month, but yet you still post on it. Why is that?

Why, because Geoff owns the site and he as well as the moderators here have the final say in what stays and what goes.

I am the one that originally created the latest "Star Wars DVDs - Reviews" thread. I started that because I feel that while "bootlegs" in general are bad, "Star Wars" is a very hot topic today and since this latest offering is for the "original" releases and NOT the "Special Editions" I knew many here would want to get some information on the set. If you have actually read the thread you know that this was a "review" thread and in no way discussed sources or trading of "bootlegs". Geoff has strict guidelines for "bootleg" discussions and this particular thread has followed those rules to the letter.

In general I do not condone "bootlegs" when it would be harmful to the original copyright owner. However, I don't think that a general discussion on "bootlegs" is such a crime.

JohnnyR I have noticed through your many posts/threads on the subject that you hate "bootlegs" with a passion but you need to realize that this is NOT your website and in the end Geoff and the site's moderators have ultimate control and the mods will follow the wishes of the owner (Geoff).

The mods (and Geoff) know what they are doing and do not need tattletales complaining every time they see something they don't like.

Actually, I kind of rely on 'tattletales' to tell me what I miss. Mmebers who value order give me a great deal of help. Just because someone tells me about a concern of theirs does not make it valid or invalid. I look into any and all questionable threads that I am sent and I decide how to handle the specific situation. In any event, email is really the only way I like to address such concerns.

I agree Bushdog but JohnnyR has become obsessed with killing every "bootleg" discussion that appears on DVD-Talk... even if it is a legitimate discussion that follows the DVD-Talk rules.

I went through all of the threads JohnnyR has created here in the "Feedback" forum complaining about "bootlegs" and in practically every case Geoff has shown his contempt for JohnnyR's comments. In many cases JohnnyR was complaining about threads Geoff was fully aware of and at least one time a thread Geoff had created. In each case Geoff responded by telling JohnnyR in a roundabout way to stop telling him how to do his job.

I think JohnnyR has turned this into a witch hunt and will not be happy until the entire website is ridded of what he deems inappropriate.

I think in the future JohnnyR should focus his efforts on E-Mail communication with the mods and/or Geoff. These "bootleg" witch hunt threads are becoming very rediculous and are not appreciated by the rest of the members in the forums.

I concur with Bushdog.

When you have a concern about a thread, you should e-mail moderators instead of posting multiple threads about the same topic. My former co-moderator addressed the concern of bootleg discussion in the Star Wars review thread. In the past, some discussion of bootlegs has been allowed, with the provision that purchasing information not be given. Until Geoff advises otherwise, I'll leave the thread open.

I'm closing this thread. While you may have a valid issue about bootlegs, every post you make to our site is a criticism on this very issue.

Your persistant criticism isn't helping the issue it's actually making it worse.

Since criticising us is your sole mission here on our forum I am going to have to ask you to leave.

Thanks
