I watched the new Peanuts "summer camp" musical because I just renewed Apple TV. It's fine and only 45 minutes. Ben Folds did three of the five songs, and they're also fine. Probably my favorite part was when the kids were remembering summer camps from years past, and the animation style switched to the original 1950s Peanuts look.

I've been sidetracked by both my own health issues (pre op this week for a biopsy next month) as well as my own mom having surgery in the first week of August. This has made it hard for me to get in the mood for anything more than mindless watching. That said. I'm hoping to at least get some time in this last week. Both my Series X and DVD Player are both currently occupied with non animated discs that I felt like watching to help get my mind off things.

I hope that everything turns out all right! I'll keep you in my thoughts. I hope your mom is feeling better too.

I decided if I was ever going to watch the global phenomenon Kpop Demon Hunters, it might as well be when I could get "credit" for it. It was really good, and the music got stuck in my head.

It's funny you posted this: Literally yesterday afternoon, my sister told me how my niece really REALLY wants to watch this because all her friends are watching it but they don't have Netflix right now.

Would you think it kid safe-think 5th grade/10-11 years old? Manga is kind of hard to age unless you've seen it yourself. Thanks!

K-Pop Demon Hunters isn't based on a manga or manhwa or anime. Unless we're talking about really nit-picky parents or sensitive child, it should be acceptable. All the violence is fantasy sword play and there's virtually no blood. It's a family film not a kid's film.

Yeah, I think it would be ok. As far as sensitive kids go, there are some intense scenes like
Spoiler:
demons sucking people's souls or huge swarms of demons attacking our heroes
, so take that into account.

Got it. I could have sworn there was a manga called Demon Hunters and thought it was a xover. Thanks for letting me know. I'll have to pass that along because there are definitely a few things that my niece has issues with.

Will do! Thank you!

As a reminder, this challenge runs through Sept. 2nd at dawn, crossing over with the Criterion Challenge starting on Aug. 31st at dusk!

I hope everyone is getting their last few watches in before the challenge ends at dawn! I ended up being sick this entire month, so did not get to as many watches as I thought I would. I did get an okay start to my personal Disney challenge. I saw a few new to me movies which I enjoyed. I really recommend The Wild Robot. I thought it was very sweet. It's a bit sad in places but I knew that going in.

I did watch Vampire Hunter D last night to fulfill one of the checklist items and did not enjoy it that much. Plot was okay but it's just a dark film (lighting-wise, and a little plot-wise as well). Just not my favorite and some of the blood and gore didn't feel necessary to me.

Got a couple watches in this morning. In doing so, I discovered Iron Man and His Awesome Friends , as well as finally watching a copy of Heavy Metal that I bought months ago. Still working on some tonight.

I'm done; well I may squeeze in another short or two, but otherwise, I'm done. I think I managed a good mix of old and new, as well as shorts and movies from all over the world, and considering I wasn't making any kind of effort, okay numbers. Thanks for running the Challenge LJG765. Already looking forward to next year.

I finished the challenge and the checklist with 155 shows. I basically watched an average of 3 shorts, 1 TV show and 1 movie each day. I didn't hit this formula every day but I was close. I think next year I will plan it out to hit this every day or at least get close again. Thanks LJG for hosting this again. You always do a great job and this year was no exception. I can't imagine this and the Sci-Fi Challenge without you running them. You obviously put some thought into them (especially the Sci-Fi Challenge) and I really appreciate it. Have a great year and I hope to see you again in July!

Even though I didn't get as many watches in as I'd have liked last month, I still had fun. Ended up somewhere in the low 40s.

Thanks for a fun challenge LJG.

Thanks LJG for double-hosting again!

Somewhat appropriately, I stretched the season of Lazarus over both challenges. I’ve always meant to dip my toe into more anime during August, and this was my stab for 2025, but the show wasn’t all that great. Only 13 half-hour episodes, and I kinda labored through it. Glad I at least got “credit” for it! :)

Thank you for your kind words! I have to admit to feeling a bit guilty since I know I've been fairly quiet this month. I mentioned earlier I've been sick and I really haven't had a lot of energy at all. I'm finally getting well enough to engage again and it's already September!

I do plan on being back next summer as well but hopefully feeling good for both challenges!
