Everyone, don’t forget that our Indie/Art House née Criterion Challenge is active all September, and it seems like most of the films we talk about here qualify. Every Arrow, Mondo Macabre, Vinegar Syndrome, Scream Factory, Criterion horror release counts, and thousands more, I honestly don’t fully understand what qualifies. Get your pre-game on and post your list/thoughts in the below list thread.

I don't know exactly what "unscripted horror anthology series" means in this case, but having John Carpenter's name attached looks like a good reason to have Peacock this October.

If anyone subscribed to Screambox, and you're looking for something to watch, check out We Might Hurt Each Other. It's a pretty good slasher flick from Lithuania.

Going to give this a try this year, but with a little twist. Does anyone have any good lists showing the best/scariest 100 horror films of all time? Feel like a list like that would keep me motivated.
And any good horror movies on sale right now?

This one Paste Magazine did back in April isn't bad, and has slightly less mainstream picks than most.
Of course a lot of the top 100 lists tend to focus on the more mainstream side of things, but if you're looking for something on the more obscure side and just good b-movie fun the 100 Obscure Horror Trash! list is a good one.
As for sales the OrbitDVD 20th anniversary sale has some good deals. The discounts are shown in the cart.
And you can never go wrong with HamiltonBook. They just had a drop recently.

One of the more recent one's was Shudder's 101 Scariest Horror Movie Moments of All Time. And the actual eight-part series is still on Shudder. It's a fun watch if you have 6½ hours to kill.

I was stressing over where to end up ordering some of the UHD upgrades from the UK and ended up ordering for the first time from the Atomic Movie Store. It seems similar to Diabolik in that in specializes more on imports and more genre. The prices on the items I bought (Martin, It Follows, Crimes of the Future, Ringu, and Cat's Eye, all UHD) were comparable or lower than the places I found and with free shipping over $50. I ordered yesterday and already received a shipping notification. It might be an option for some people.
I keep wanting to order from Orbit, but they never seem to have the best prices on the items I'm actually needing. I'm looking forward to the Hamilton drop. There are supposed to be some price reductions as well.

There are a ton of YouTube genre critics out there, but this guy is my favorite. Excellent synopsis writing with wit as sharp as an axe wielding maniac but also as dry as the Sahara, his commentary cracks me up. And where he finds some of these movies is totally beyond me. His videos may give even the most obscure horror movie viewers some new ones to check out or look for next month.
If you like these videos, you will love his other stuff. His James Bond, Terminator, Die Hard & Star Wars rip-off videos are simply breathtaking in scope and variety if you want to watch stuff other than horror.
He also has some shorter videos that focus on one movie, movie "star" or director. Also don't overlook his "Best Worst Vanity Projects" video. Simply some astounding stuff in it.
Here are a couple of samples.

I’ve got a new way to watch movies now, since I got a PSP in the mail today. Now I just need to track down some horror UMDs to order.

Do it. I've watched a few of those (James Bond, Die Hard, and Jaws, I believe) and made a list of movies I hadn't seen as I was watching, then watched the movies I could find. It takes a little time, but it can be fun if you like having suggestions for things to watch, and you like low-budget and/or foreign knock-offs. I need to do it again, and that Nightmare on Elm St. video looks like a good one (although the Terminator knock offs video was in my YouTube suggestions earlier today - but I feel like I've probably seen more of those already).

I've been indulging myself this month, picking up some new horror titles and upgrading others. The new movies I've picked up are Fantasy Island (2020), Unwelcome (2023), Kids vs Aliens (2023), Spontaneous (2023), and Renfield (2023). I also got the Eureka! Hopping Mad: The Mr Vampire Sequels blu set, which includes Mr. Vampire 2 (1986), Mr. Vampire 3 (1987), Mr. Vampire Saga (1988) and Vampire vs Vampire (1989). Definitely a nice upgrade from the very modest pleasures of the Legendary Collection dvd releases (which were released back in 2009-ish). I may finally break down and watch Mr. Vampire 2 (1986)

I was really hoping the Mr. Vampire sequel set was included in the Orbit sale.
Thanks. I just found my new YouTube obsession. And speaking of NOES ripoffs, Mahakaal looks to be an absolute blast. It's also included in the recent Mondo Macabro Bollywood set I've yet to open. But man, that 2 hour, 12 minute runtime is such a deterrent, plus the inevitable synchronized dance scenes always kill the pacing, IMO. I so wish there was a solid 90 minute edit, which I'm sure would be achievable minus said dancing scenes.

Talk to Me blew me away, I might be late to the party but I finally caught it last night and think it lives up to the hype. Glad I caught it in the theater rather than holding off until on disc next month.
