Ever since DVDSpot died I’ve been leery of putting effort into other catalog/rating/whatever websites. I try to rate everything at IMDb because I figure that is most likely to last. But I’ve always been intrigued by letterboxd.

I am the exact same way. I created an account with Letterboxd but never used it. I have been rating movies on IMDB since forever and don't really see that changing.

It is a shame the IMDB doesn't incorporate a kind of "social link" like Letterboxd has.

I am still pissed Netflix took their "friends" function away. That shit was great, and I never understood why they killed it.

I had quite a bit of IMDb reviews, but the Letterboxd community is just so different, and in my opinion, so much better.

Here are my bottom horror movies. It's nice to know someone else has suffered through Headless.

Though I think they are bad movies, I enjoy watching Things, Feeders 1 & 2 and Jack-O.

Can you believe it's been 15 years? I also feel the same way--I put in a lot of effort into DVDSpot, but I get a sense of community with Letterboxd that makes me want to add reviews.

Re: 2nd? Annual Early Bird Horror Watch Roulette

Finally managed to pop in my Vestron Blu-ray of Wishmaster 2 tonight. Not a good movie, but still pretty entertaining. Andrew Divoff is always a plus! I'm saving the other two sequels for when the challenge gets rolling and I run out of inspiration. Knowing that the Djinn was recast isn't giving me high hopes.

Re: 2nd? Annual Early Bird Horror Watch Roulette

So, apparently if you click on someone else's name and look at their films watched, then filter by horror movies, and sort by their rating, you can see right away which movies they hated that you haven't seen yet. (I assume you could go the other way too, but who wants to do that?)

I thought I had seen The Green Inferno.

I'm sorry if this is old news to others. I haven't been using Letterboxd for very long.

Killer Tongue is the only OMHC "Favorite" that I was miserable while watching.

I think I need to revisit Girls Nite Out, V/H/S/2 and Sledgehammer, next month.

I must be doing it wrong, this feature doesn't work for me.

You also have to toggle "Fade Watched Films"

Yeah, I thought about mentioning that, but I couldn't remember if that was something you had to click, or if it was always on and you had to choose to turn it off.

Re: 2nd? Annual Early Bird Horror Watch Roulette

I'm home sick with Covid (get the booster, folks, this new strain is no picnic) and so last night was the perfect time for my assigned movie. Slumber Party Massacre II was everything that title would promise. Lots of shrieking teens! They're a band, but why rehearse when you can have a pillow fight? Our "hero" has a sister in an institution, or does she?! A killer with a drill on his guitar! Inspiration and outright theft of everything from Nightmare on Elm Street to much better late 80's pop songs! Yeah, it was a good watch for this week.

Re: 2nd? Annual Early Bird Horror Watch Roulette

Got a bit stoned this evening and watching Wishmaster 2 which was the movie assigned to me. Man, the late 90s were quite a time for horror! Everything is a bit over-lit, and the mix of CGI and practical effects is jarringly incongruent. I wasn't familiar with the franchise so I might have missed some allusions to the first movie. This one follows a burglar who accidentally releases the titular djinn during an art heist gone bad. The djinn goes to prison in which he comically collects souls by dispensing ironic wishes, and the burglar has terrible nightmares and goes on a journey of self-discovery to stop the evil. The tonal shifts are weird and the ironic nature of the wish fulfillment kinda losses the thread as the movie goes. However, it was a fun watch, especially since I was in a giggly mood.

There's nothing to miss: the sequel is a beat-for-beat repeat of the first film, except for the horror movie star cameos.
Also, Andrew Divoff is sexy AF

I still remember the scene when the prisoner wished that his lawyer would F himself. Lol

It didn't make we wanna run out and watch the other movies in the series so I'm glad I'm not missing much. Completely agree about Andrew Divoff! When he was facing off against Tom Lister, I just wanted them to kiss passionately.
