September Warm-up List (including movie(s) watched for IBJoel's September Giveaway)
Spoiler:
9/1/22

Prophecy (1979) - Mutant bear attacks! This just happened to be the next movie in the stack I was working through, and I hadn't watched it in about 40 years...

9/2/22

Growing Up with I Spit on Your Grave (2019) [tubi]- Surprisingly informative and interesting documentary about the making of I Spit on Your Grave.
Tales of Frankenstein (1958) - Frankenstein builds a monster which goes on a rampage. It's prety obvious why this Hammer produced pilot wasn't successful, since that would've probably been the plot of every episode, but it's still interesting to see.

9/3/22

Horror Castle (La Vergine di Norimberga) (1963) - After discovering a dead woman inside an Iron Maiden in her husband's ancestral home, a young bride slinks around the castle in a nightgown trying to figure out who killed her. Meanwhile, someone dressed in the guise of the historically infamous torturer known as "the Punisher" is also skulking about the castle. Pretty standard Gothic fare. Just the thing for a lazy Saturday afternoon.
Street Trash (1987) - A liquor store owner uncovers an old crate of liquor which he sells for a dollar a bottle to local winos, who melt into colorful piles of goo after consuming it.
Shock Cinema Volume Three: Bloopers, Babes and Blood! (Shock Cinema Vol. 3) (1991) [tubi] - Brinke Stevens introduces movie clips (and/or trailers, and bloopers) from Nightmare Sisters, Deadly Embrace, Dr. Alien, Murder Weapon, Robot Ninja, Skinned Alive, and Ghoul School.

9/4/22

Film House Fever (1986) [tubi] - Steve Buscemi and Mark Boone Junior play two goofball cinephiles watching multiple movies on multiple TVs. After all the movies simultaneously come to an end on all the TVs, they have nothing to watch, so they head out to a movie theater that's having a film festival, and then we get to watch a bunch of clips from horror and exploitation movies (plus a couple of trailers) as the two goofballs occasionally react (and/or overreact) to what's happening onscreen.

9/5/22

Rest in Pieces (1987) [OtherWorlds TV] - After a woman kills herself, and her niece inherits all her property, the niece and her husband move into the late aunt's possibly haunted house, surrounded by homicidal, possibly deceased, neighbors.
Direct to Video: Straight to Video Horror of the 90s (2019) [tubi] - Documentary about STV horror flicks in the '90s
Horror of Our Love: A Short Film (2010) [American Horrors] - A masked killer pursues the young woman he loves.

9/7/22

Time Warp: The Greatest Cult Films of All-Time- Vol. 2 Horror and Sci-Fi (2020) [tubi] - Joe Dante, Illeana Douglas, Kevin Pollock and John Waters talk about some movies and show a bunch of clips from those movies and interview clips with people talking about those movies. It was a little odd to me to see Joe Dante praising Night of the Living Dead (1968), since when I saw him in person, around 30 years ago, he called it derivative because he said it was so obviously influenced by The Last Man on Earth (1964) (however he was sitting next to Richard Matheson when he said that).

9/8/22

Morgus Presents: Pharaoh's Curse (1957) [The Monster Channel] - People discover a mummy and unleash a curse. During the breaks, Dr. Morgus attempts to re-animate Cleopatra so they can fly off into space with some aliens who helped the Egyptians build the pyramids. I had just watched that movie a few months ago, so I didn't really watch it this time, I was only paying attention to the host segments because Dr. Morgus was a horror host I hadn't seen before. Sadly Wikipedia informs me that New Orleans horror host Dr. Morgus passed away in 2020.

9/9/22

28 Days Later (2002) - A man awakens from a coma, alone in an empty hospital, four weeks after a virus has turned most people into murderous rage zombies. He meets a few other survivors, and they take a road trip.
Zombie Town (Night of the Creeps 2: Zombie Town) (2007) - Parasitic slugs infest people in a small town, turning them into zombies.

I've got some good news and some bad news. The good news is there's a Night of the Creeps 2.

What's the bad news?

There's a Night of the Creeps 2.
Portrait of a Zombie (2012) - Follows a documentarian working on his latest project, a film about a family with a zombie son they keep locked away in his bedroom.

9/10/22

Cheap Thrills - Those Drive-in Horror Flicks (2022) [tubi] - A compilation of a bunch of seemingly random low-res clips from several PD sci-fi and horror flicks.
Schlock Lives! (2021) [tubi] - Interviews with a few odddball Troma film makers, mixed in with trailers for Troma movies - so basically an 87 minute long commercial for Troma.

9/11/22

VHS Lives: A Schlockumentary (2017) [tubi] - A really long documentary about VHS, concentrating on interviews with current collectors and film makers (many who were in the previous movie I watched), interspersed with lots of old video company animated opening logos and Blockbuster commercials.
VHS Lives 2: Undead Format (2017) [tubi] - More of the same. Several collectors and modern film makers (many of them were also in the previous film) reminiscing about their favorite dead video format, interspersed with random VHS commercials (loved the Vincent Price Polaroid VHS tape commercial!) and video company animated opening logos.
VHS Nasty (2019) [tubi] - I figured I might as well complete the trilogy. This one concentrates on discussing "video nasties."

9/12/22

VHS Forever? Psychotronic People (2014) [tubi] - Another film with people talking about VHS "video nasties."
Slumber Party Slasherthon (2012) [tubi] - A few young ladies have a slumber party which is interrupted intermittently by random clips from RHR Home Video releases.
Flesh and Blood: The Hammer Heritage of Horror (1994) [tubi] - An interesting and informative history of Hammer Studios.

9/14/22

The Horribly Slow Murderer with the Extremely Inefficient Weapon (2008) [YouTube] - A rather amusing faux horror movie trailer.

9/15/22

Shock Cinema Volume 2 (1991) [tubi] - Brinke Stevens hosts a collection of interview clips with other low budget movie actors and filmmakers, plus Forrest J. Ackerman, talking about making low budget movies.
Monster Madness: The Golden Age of the Horror Film (2014) [tubi] - A documentary looking at (mostly Universal) horror movies of the '30s and '40s. I had watched this one before.

9/16/22

Hollywood in the Atomic Age - Monsters! Martians! Mad Scientists! (2021) [tubi] - A documentary looking at science fiction and horror movies of the '50s.

9/17/22

Fun Size (2012) - A teenage girl loses her little brother on Halloween night.
Monster Night (2006) - Three kids are left alone on Halloween night. Stuff happens.
The Witching (1972/83) [American Horrors] - A young couple moves to a new town populated by witches.
Monster Movie Trivia Quiz (2004) [tubi] - A narrator asks trivia questions while horror movie clips play on screen.

9/18/22

All the Colors of Giallo (2019) [tubi] - A documentary about Italian movies.

9/19/22

Girl vs. Monster (2012) - A musical, Disneyfied Ghostbusters / Buffy pastiche - When a young girl is left home alone on Halloween and accidentally releases the monsters which her Monster Hunter parents had kept imprisoned in a containment unit in their basement, it's up to her and her two nerdy friends to overcome their fear and save the day.

9/20/22

Nightfall - 100 Years of Vampire Films (2010) [tubi] - A video about vampires in movies.
Zombie Genocide (Deadlands: The Rising) (2006/2012) [OtherWorlds TV] - A rather unremarkable generic low-budget zombie movie.
Monsterland (2009) [tubi] - A pretty decent documentary about movie monsters.

9/21/22

Funny Games (1997) - Austrian home invasion flick where two fey preppies hold a couple and their young son hostage in the couple's large vacation home.

9/22/22

Funny Games (2007) - A nearly exact, shot-for-shot remake of the previous film, made by the same director, but with different actors, and in English.
What Have You Done to Solange? (1972) - After a few students at a Catholic school are murdered, one of their teachers (who is innocent) becomes the main suspect, so he tries to locate the real killer.

9/24/22

Blood on the Reel: The Guts Behind Indie Horror (2016) [tubi] - Yet another horror movie doc on tubi. This one is about indie horror filmmakers and their movies. I only recognized one of these directors, and that's because I recently saw him in another doc.
That Guy Dick Miller (2014) [tubi] - A cinematic fan letter to Dick Miller, celebrating his life and career through movie clips, home movies, and interviews (with family, friends, filmmakers, and others).

9/25/22

A Collection of Retro Halloween Commercials: From the 70s-90s [YouTube] - A potpourri of Halloween and/or horror themed commercials. A fun time waster, but the uneven volume from one commercial to the next was a little irritating.
Terror Is a Man (Blood Creature, Creature from Blood Island) (1959) [The Monster Channel] - A man is shipwrecked on an island inhabited by a mad scientist who has surgically transformed a panther into a man-cat.

9/26/22

Hard Candy (2005) - When a groomer meets the young girl he has been communicating with online, the predator soon becomes the prey.
