Over the weekend, I went to the annual Exhumed Films 24 Hour Horrorthon event that I go to every year. All of the movies are shown on 35 mm prints and you don’t know what is going to be showing until it screens though they do give a small hint for each one. This year’s lineup was pretty good. I am unable to sleep in a seat so I stayed up the whole time and only skipped Mothra when we went out for dinner. Here was the lineup.

Your Top 3 Worst Halloween Films
1. Rob Zombie's Halloween II (2009)
2. Halloween: Resurrection (2002)
3. Rob Zombie's Halloween (2007)
4. A Two-Way Tie: Halloween Ends (2022) and Halloween 6: The Curse of Michael Myers (1995). That's most likely referring to the theatrical cut, but only a couple of people were specific about which version.
5. Halloween Kills (2021)
Halloween (1978), Halloween III: Season of the Witch (1982), Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers (1988) and Halloween (2018) received no 'worst' votes. Both Halloween II (1981) and Halloween: H20 (1998) received one vote apiece. Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers (1989) received 5 votes.
Of course, this being the last trivia question of the challenge meant random.org received some assistance from Mr. David Lynch and his jar, and today just so happens to be a momentous occasion as it's his 800th pick! Number 8 it is.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 18th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)
Congrats, Irend!
I crossed the 100 threshold tonight. Watched Hiruko the Goblin (Japan), Dumplings (China), and The Long Hair of Death (Italy) and topped it off with something fun and easy -- The Mask of Fu Manchu (1932). I enjoyed them all.
Usually at this point in the challenge, I'm pretty sick of horror. But this year I'm still looking forward to the rest of October's watches, especially since there's still new stuff being released.
Has anyone seen TWO WITCHES? Whacha think?

Just hit 100 as well, with "Frankenstein's Daughter", no less.
Still a week to go and it's going to be a full one.

People thought Ends was worse than Kills??? The whole movie of Kills was just saying "Evil dies tonight" over and over.

I started the day with The Skeleton of Mrs. Morales (1960), a dark comedy from Mexico that I saw on several Letterboxed lists, including their top-rated horror. It's about a long suffering taxidermist with a nagging wife who...well, even if you see where it's going, it takes some nifty twists by the end. It's on Tubi.

I've been watching movies but haven't been on the forum on account of having screwed up my laptop. I just can't scroll and post, let alone copy and paste, with this new layout. Anyway, a couple of years ago, Criterion ran a '70s Horror challenge and I went through that. I've been going through this year's '80s counterpart, which also makes a nifty companion to my Eighty-Film 80's Daisy Chain project earlier this year. I've made a few key observations, but there's one in particular I want to throw out to y'all because it's horror-specific. The dominant theme of the '70s collection was suspicion/distrust and at times full blown paranoia. It stands to reason, given that was the decade in which faith in social institutions collapsed. By and large, the horror films I've seen from that era tend to be played straight. There's a palpable sense of tapping into any preexisting suspicion in us, to tweak (or generate) it throughout the movie, and send it home with us. In the '80s, what has stood out to me most is humor. It feels to me that what happened was instead of resolving any of our turmoil, we just kinda reached a saturation point of the things weighing on us that we could do little, if anything, about. Horror movies seem to have become more outlandish in the '80s. I also feel like '80s horror protagonists are more about simply surviving their ordeals, whereas '80s protagonists actively seek to fight back and defeat their villains. Is this a "Fine, I'll do it myself!" attitude, or maybe a compulsion to retaliate?
I'm still very much a novice when it comes to the genre, though, so I'd like to hear from the experts here--particularly those old enough to have experienced those decades and remember the horror scene at the time firsthand. Am I off the mark altogether? Are '80s horror films thematically about catharsis? What should I make a point to explore or study about this question of shifting themes? What films best reflect those decades for you? Again, my laptop is screwed up so I won't be able to respond to anyone with any regularity but I'd love to hear your thoughts!

I recently found out about this myself, but for those that weren't aware the Out There Halloween Mega Tape (aka WNUF Halloween sequel) is available for purchase here, and apparently has been for awhile. It's DVD and VHS only. They're not exactly doing their best to advertise it, and whether or not it'll get a Terror Vision Blu-ray release like the original remains to be seen.
Since my Scream Factory order that I was counting on for 10/31 viewing doesn't seem to be arriving any time soon, I've ordered it, the UK Blu-ray of Terrifier 2 (missed the theatrical run, and bought it right before finding out Best Buy's releasing a UHD) and Satan's Little Helper from Synapse, so my Halloween's set ...if the postal service comes through.

Watched Barbarian, tonight. I didn't expect the movie to take the turn that it did, but it was a good time, if anyone is on the fence.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 18th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)
Today I completed my quest to watch every film on the They Shoot Zombies, Don't They? list, numbers 1-500.
I've always been a horror fan, but I haven't always watched that many films. So there was a lot of movies on this list that I hadn't seen.
These were the films that I watched for the first time in my quest to do the list that I either especially liked or especially hated. I am not including here films I'd already seen before like The Exorcist, The Omen, Cujo, etc,
First Watched - Best of:
Repulsion (1965)
Dead of Night (1945)
The Black Cat (1934)
The Vanishing (1988)
The Mist (2007)
Ginger Snaps (2000)
Drag me to Hell (2009)
Frailty (2001)
Mad Love (1935)
M (1931)
Who Can Kill A Child (1976)
Anti Christ (2009)
Opera (1987)
Duel (1971)
I Spit on Your Grave (1978)
Slither (2005)
Under the Skin (2013)
Kill List (2011)
Pontypool (2008)
Hangover Square (1945)
First time Watches - Worst of: (torture to get through)
Last House on the Left (1972)
Inside (2007)
Blood Feast (1963)
Inland Empire (2006)
Deranged (1974)
Bad Taste (1987)
Eden Lake (2008)
House of 1000 Corpses (2003)
Toxic Avenger (1984)
Calvaire (2004)
Surprisingly not as bad as expected
Martyrs (2006) - I dreaded how gory I'd heard this was but I really liked the religious/cult angle.
High Tension (2003) - Thought this would be too hard-core, but the story totally sucked me in. Love the ending.
I promised myself after #500, I will skip the films I don't think I'll like and only watch the ones that sound appealing. But I'd like to get to 90% eventually. I'm at 73% now.

First time viewing of the Patrick duology last night for theme day and wow, I was not prepared for the sudden Cannibal Holocaust levels of violence in the “sequel”.

I have a couple of friends coming over for a triple feature on Sunday and with all the good reviews here, I picked Barbarian to close the day out.
Has anyone here seen Aquaslash (2019)? I watched it last night on Showtime Streaming and it was stupid fun. It is a brief 70 minutes so even if you hate it, you can get through it quickly. Basically, there is a killer at a waterpark full of graduating teens. It is basically Friday The 13th meets Piranha 3DD. Some over the top acting with one ridiculous kill that keeps on giving. I laughed my ass off on the longest single way to kill someone which lasts probably near 10 minutes of its already short running time. Don't believe the terrible score on IMDB. It definitely feels like a throwback to the 80's.
Also...the dumbest scene I have possible EVER seen in a horror movie happened the other night. I was watching Leatherface (2017) and there is a scene where
And finally...does anyone have any modern-day ghost stories/haunted house films that they recommend? And not the awful Paranormal Activity crap. The reason I bring it up is I rewatched The Orphanage (2007) and I literally can hardly find a flaw in that film. I totally adore it. It brings me to tears every time I watch it and I have probably seen it a dozen times at least. Anything else out there like that I may have overlooked? And if you say you hate that film, I will fight you!

I'm creeping my way toward 97%, and like you, will not spend my time on things I won't like. (My highest unwatched is in the mid-500's and a "god no" director, so that sealed the deal.} I'll probably watch a few which turn up as subset picks, but once I realized I won't push to finish, I'm good.
The subset list is the same kind of thing, really. Though it's short enough that it's less of an issue. I have done all the subset films for the past few years but this year there were a couple that made me wonder if I really want to do that. I might use a few wildcards next year.

The Night Brings Charlie, someone posted it on Youtube and I watched it because it's one of the only 'eatting mortician' (checklist item) films I havent seen. Its an impressively cheap shot on video horror film thats better than it has any right to be; a sort of redneck giallo filled with implausible twists and maybe the best 'bad' movies Ive seen this challenge.

I’ve not seen that one, but may try to squeeze it in before the end of the challenge.
On another subject, I’d like to meet whoever thought Freddy’s Dead was a worthy Nightmare sequel and punch them right in the gonads…or tits, whichever applies. I’m a completist, so I don’t feel like I can skip over it whenever I watch the series. This may be my least favorite movie of all-time.

Just finished up a rewatch of The Black Phone. The entire movie was great, but I don’t think I’ve seen a group of better child actors than in this movie, especially Finney’s sister.
