Haven't watched the movie (impossible to find on disc), but I've seen the poster plenty; nake Sammo isn't something you tend to forget. Archive.org looks to have a decent subbed copy, so I'm going to indulge tonight, I think.

I rather enjoy Elseworlds stories. Assuming they are otherwise well-done, of course. And yet, I still found Brightburn unenjoyable.

Work has been crazy all month but seems to be reaching a fever pitch. There have been late meetings the last two nights and another tonight. I've managed to just barely keep up with a daily theme watch. Still need to update my list for the last couple of movies. I'm still foolishly hoping to take some more time off this month.

Made my 50. Could try to keep my current pace and finish somewhere in the low 80's, but nah. Anything after this is gravy. Even if I drop down to a consistent one movie a day, I'll finish in the 60's. It's all good.

Since I watched Weird Woman (1944) last night, I decided to make a double feature of it by watching Night of the Eagle (1962), tonight. Both are good, but Night of the Eagle edges out Weird Woman. I've got to re-read Conjure Wife (Fritz Leiber); I'm pretty sure I've read it at least once. I suspect Night of the Eagle probably hews closer to the source material.

Finished the second season of Dead End - Paranormal Park - today. It was surprisingly emotional.

I'm pretty surprised at how far I've gotten this year, just hit 69 in my list after 19 days. Starting Saturday, I'm taking my usual end of October week of R&R so for 9 days, I can get at least 4 films a day in. It's actually possible to hit 100 which I've never come all that close to before - I think my highest scores have been between 75 and 85. Up to now, my favorite first watches have been:

I had probably my favorite first time watch tonight. Some friends on Discord got together for a watch party of the new Scream ​​​​​​, and surprisingly, I thought it was very good. Not quite as good as the first, but still up there. The idea of a requel was very interesting.

Going through my Addams Family & Munsters TV series sets finally this month, and I have to say, I vastly prefer The Addams Family over The Munsters.

I always did as well as a kid but wondered at all if my thoughts would change as an adult. Nope. The AF plays even better as an adult than it did when I was a kid.

I thought The Munsters was too goofy even when I watched them (both in syndication as a kid...I ain't that old!), and it still rings true to me today. Kinda surprises me that Rob Zombie is such a huge, long-time fan of The Munsters over The Addams.

Anyway...I know this is basically a Coke Vs. Pepsi, Nike vs. Reebok, McDonald's vs. Burger King kind of thing. So...which is your favorite between the two? No films or remakes...just the original TV shows.

Smooth sailing up to this point. I'm current at ~65 titles, and the cool weather has really settled in. It's feeling like October, and I'm looking forward to more good stuff for the last 1/3 of the month. If I can keep it up, it's likely I may hit 100, but one never knows. I'm pretty sure I have not seen all of the Halloween movies for Chad's trivia question, but I have a feeling Halloween: Resurrection may make that list.

Watched The Black Phone last night. I was pleasantly surprised by it. Ethan Hawke was fantastic in it. Really creepy. Highly recommend it. Don't want to give too much away, but good ghost story and not that much gore in it.

Welp, it's the 20th. That's a sad milestone because it means my favorite month is 2/3rds of the way over already. Before you know it, it'll be November.
I think I'll feel well-glutted on the Halloween season by Nov 1 this year, though. I've indulged in plenty of pumpkin-flavored things, walks in the leaves, Halloween decorations (we set up on Sept 15 this year) and horror movies. I topped 80 yesterday so I shouldn't have a problem getting to 100.

My favorite total surprise of the season so far is the new INTERVIEW WITH A VAMPIRE series, which I adore. Bodies, Bodies, Bodies fell to $5.99 on Amazon, so I hope to catch that soon and the new V/H/S/99 premiers on Shudder tonight and is getting rave reviews.

Jakob's Wife is really good and fits todays themes. Barbara Crampton is a legend who has not only been a prime 80s 'Scream Queen' but also transitioned into effective modern horror; I usually find her involvement to be a hallmark of a good horror film (rather than someone who shamelessly appears in even iffy films). In Jakob's Wife she appears with Larry Fessenden who has a similarly interesting profile.

I've always loved the Addams Family over the Munsters. Gomez is the ultimate latin lover with this otherworldly devotion to Morticia. The Munstes just seemed like dumb fun.

I've been having a pretty hard time watching stuff this year. I'm only at 11 new watches and 4 repeats. I don't know why I'm just not so into it, although I think it's a combination of things.

• I'm actually fairly busy. I'm hosting a conference for IB this weekend, so I've been preparing for that a lot.
• I've moved and try to incorporate my fiancee into more stuff, who is very busy this time of year with work. I may even be past the phase where I enjoy watching alone and want to share the experience with others
• I've worked through most of the good stuff and the stuff now is pretty "eh". Shout! adding commercials and not really expanding their streaming catalogue also sucks
• I think I'm just much happier overall and the movies are less of an escape. I've been having more fun taking an edible and listening to a podcast while I wander the neighborhood and look at decorations than watching even a good horror movie with some drinks

I enjoyed The Black Phone as well. Ethan Hawke was a terrific villain, and the ghost element was really well done. I also watched Come Play for the phone theme. The story concerns a non-verbal boy with autism who attracts an extra-dimensional monster named Larry that uses the boy's cell phone to communicate with him. There's no blood, just a gradually creepy atmosphere as the boy's parents find out that the imaginary friend isn't imaginary and wants to abduct the boy into his world. It would be a good movie to watch with older children, but it might be too intense for little ones.

We had to go out of state last weekend for a family event, and we leave for our cruise on Wednesday, so I'll be lucky if I can get to 60 movies this year.

The Addams Family - hand's down favorite. I really like The Munsters as well but it's more of a "fish out of water" type series, ala The Beverly Hillbillies (though The Beverly Hillbillies are a bit more surrealistic than The Munsters in that respect). It's mostly a very standard sitcom just with "Universal Monsters" as the family who mostly doesn't see themselves any differently than any other family on the block. The Addams Family is just plain twisted and macabre with a family who knows they're different and make zero effort to conform, thinking the rest of the world are the weird ones. Plus the characters are just more interesting because they're different.

I did worse than that this year. Over the weekend I got a fever, which progressed into a stuffy head and bad cough (which, as it does, turned into a sore throat). My doctor was swamped and wasn't able to see me until Tuesday morning. And for the first time ... I have COVID I tested negative over the weekend from an at-home kit but I'm told it may take a little longer for antigen levels to build up to detectable levels (as opposed to the PCR test).

You'd think being stuck at home for a week while sick would be great for watching movies, but not really. The cough and congestion make it impossible to get any kind of sleep at night. Hard to focus on watching things. I'll keep nodding off with chunks of a movie just slipping by. I am trying to watch things I've seen before though.

I rewatched The Hunger last night. While it's a movie I like, it's not the best movie to watch when feeling sleepy. One thing that still creeps me out is:
