Well, I’m sitting here waiting for dusk to hit. Work dismissed early on account of that storm passing through and the conditions are very windy and sloppy out. What couldn’t this happen in October?
Come to think of it, I think there was a storm this time last year coming through. Have fun tonight everyone!

I remember you PCBreakdown. I hope things are starting to look a little better for you, and am sorry about your divorce. I too am champing at the bit to start. And along the same lines, tomorrow on Svengoolie ,at a special time, is Trilogy of Terror , one hour earlier, so 7 PM EDT.

Another half hour at work and I'm heading home to start the wait until dusk. May check out something until then and just not count it, which I've sporadically been doing all month anyway.

How do I not own todays subset choice, The Haunting? Not streaming free anywhere, was about to pay for it, 6.99 to own just about everywhere, but found it most likely not supposed to be there at Internet Archive.

Check Movies Anywhere to see if they'll show up in your Prime account... Some studios won't show up at Amazon through them but some will. I have my MA account linked to Vudu and Prime so that I'll get redemptions I do through MA at Amazon if the studio is supported by them. It still very much annoys me that something like MA isn't universal - redeem it there and watch it anywhere else if you link the accounts.

I'm a minority but Ive switched a lot of my buying to digital and been satisfied with Vudu.
Agreed 100% that Movies Anywhere should be universal; unfortunately Paramount and it's Friday the 13th films are some of the ones that are not MA eligible - which is a bummer.

I am always impressed by how much work some of you guys go to to make your lists look so damn purty! How much time does it take you.
I go the simple route of just typing in the bare minimum, but I am always envious of those lists!
By the way...it literally blows my mind that I have been doing this for 18 years now on this site (originally as "brianluvdvd"). My son was one when this started and now, he is a freshman in college this year. Woah!
Even when I took a few years off posting a list on this challenge, I still did all horror the entire month of October just out of habit and because I love this challenge so much!
Thanks for all the work you do Chad! It would not be the same without you! And thanks to all the posters and prize contributors over the years. I love reading all the reviews and seeing all the prize winners every year.
My favorite section has always been the separate review threads and I look forward to those every year. The fun of discovering different movies I have never seen, rediscovering old favorites or even being able to watch a shitty movie and argue over it never gets old!
Cheers to this year's start! I have a packed month this year, but as always, I will do my best to view as many things as possible and surround myself with all horror!!!!!
Let's begin!

Interesting wrinkle on Scream Factory TV's 31 Nights of Horror, this year. There'll be 31 double features from Oct 1 - Oct 31, but you can watch the broadcast version on Shout! Factory TV and the uncensored version on Scream Factory TV. The features will begin everyday at 8:00 pm Central. Unfortunately they haven't listed the movies yet, but they are all fan selected, for whatever that's worth.

Kicked off the party tonight with The AGFA Horror Trailer Show - been holding onto this one for pretty much the whole year just as a fun starter

And so it begins...
Starting off with All Hallows' Eve to refresh myself up on Art the Clown before Terrifier 2 drops next week.

I’ve gone a little crazy in the ScreamFactory sale. Let’s just say that I have three free t-shirts coming so far, and my wish list is still pretty large.

Hey everyone! Don't know if anyone one remembers me, but I was participated from 2013-2018. Had to take a mental health break during my divorce, subsequent death of my ex and all the stuff that comes with that. Newly married to a horror virgin. I've taken him to 2 horror conventions (which he loved) and Halloween Horror Nights 2 weeks ago (which was a disaster for everyone involved - it's gone so money grubbing downhill since my last visit in 2016). I'm going to attempt to at least watch 50 movies this year - a far cry from my peak of 164 that first year. I went to grad school to become a mental health therapist, so taking classes in addition to raising 4 kids, movie time is limited.
Anyway, hi! Excited to come back and participate!

As someone who regularly scans the list thread, and has done a couple results threads, its always good to see your and others’ names, including many who only return for this Challenge each year.

A head's up the theme/subset and checklist tables just went up.
The theme/subset table had some formatting issues, which is why it's not in the usual spot (it's a literal thread killer), but all the links are working properly.
I didn't get around to getting the bad movie generator link on the checklist up just yet. I'll have it ready soon.
Also don't forget the first Sunday Night Trivia Question for Hamilton Book Prize Pack #1 starts October 2nd.
Links to everything can be found in the wikis of this thread, the list thread and the pre-challenge thread.
It has begun, and I'm off to find something to watch. Have a blast, everyone!

All Hallows' Eve is surprisingly decent for such a low-budget movie. Art the Clown is an excellent antagonist. But the girl who played the costume designer is one of the worst actresses I've ever seen. I'm going to follow this up with All Hallows' Eve 2, despite the absence of Art the Clown before I plunge into Terrifier later. I remember All Hallows' Eve 2 being terrible, but we will see if I change my mind after this viewing. I doubt it, but one can only hope.

I’ve got this idea to try and hit up all the Rob Zombie movies on Shudder, culminating with The Munsters on Netflix. Also, just noticed Steven Seagal has a vampire flick....

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 18th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)
Kicked off this year with three completely different films. The Haunting (1963), which is a masterpiece and one of my favorite films ever,. Le Main Du Diable (1943), which is in French and sort of quirky and artsy, and Sissy (2022) on Shudder. There are so many new releases and I'm going to include as many as I can this month while hitting my other goals.
Sissy is uber contemporary (it's about a social media influencer) and quite gory and graphic. It's tongue-in-cheek, but I wouldn't say it's all out comedy. More of a satire. Some of the plot and kills are so convenient as to induce an eye roll or two, but there are some truly gnarly death scenes too, and I enjoyed the last act quite a bit.

I kicked off things last night with one of my favorite Criterion films, Vampyr, which is available on YouTube as well. Felt like some cryptkeeper after that, so put in one of my Tales From The Crypt DVDs, since I have Season 2 on DVD. Finally, since I was starting to get a little tired, I finished off with one of the reruns of Halloween Wars that was being marathoned on the Cooking Channel. I'm looking forward to another day of horror watching today. I plan to start as soon as I get home from running some errands.

While last night was an Art the Clown binge, today is more of an undertaking as I relive Chucky’s story, from the original Child’s Play all the way up to the series which debuted last year. Chucky is such a little asshole, but he’s so much fun to watch.

I finally got around to watching Climax Gaspar Noe's film because so many people were raving about it. Well, I hated it. Unless you like an hour plus of dancing to techno music and upside down camerawork, I don't see what this one has to offer.
