I'm in the process of finalizing my list. I've been going though fine tuning some things and I've already found 2 I've had difficulty recalling the general plot.
Well, today is the day I signed up for Leterboxd. I love the idea of the They Shoot Zombies list, and I may try and start that one in the next few months. I'm curious if you rewatched titles to make things official? Did you watch films that had fallen off the list from previous years?

It's the 1000 greatest horror movies. Pretty interesting list. Several peeps here have been working through it. It seems like a good way to keep things focused.

Forgot to say my list is final.
I'm still going to go through it and record the decades and runtimes

My list has been finalized. Total films: 47, which is about right. The last time I participated, I made it to 100, but I found that all of the films tended to blend together when I watched that many movies in a month. I prefer to take it a bit slower, and somewhere around 50 in a month is just "fright" for me.
Thanks for the Challenge, everyone! And, once again, I must give special thanks to Chad and Internet Brands, and GoldenWheels and Hamilton Books, for the awe-inspiring prize packages, one of which I was lucky enough to win.

For instance, The Boatniks (1970) is one of, if not the first, film I remember seeing in a theater as a kid, but I don't show it as watched on either site. One day, I hope to watch it again, and then I'll record it as watched.

Since you just started, you might find this useful: Go through your old DVDTalk challenge lists to help you remember what movies you've seen (and when you watched them).

I was at Schlock! Alas, I didn't make it all the way to the end.
My favourite moments there include:
-Crispin Glover's bizarre appearance to show his films.
-People tossing footballs with Tommy Weisseau before a showing of The Room
-The Saturday Morning cartoon all you can eat cereal screenings
-Halloween Midnight screening of Rocky Horror Picture Show with shadow cast
-The Oscar parties
-The Shining/Exorcist old school double bills
-Those Indiana Jones triple feature BBQs
-When they found all those scratch and sniff cards for John Waters Polyester and handed them out to watch...errr...smell the film!
Such a good place. When you couple it with a visit to House of Targ (a classic 80s style arcade for those not familiar), you got an amazing evening. Stop at the greasy chip truck on the corner for a poutine.

My list is final.
I finished my 12th challenge with 120 movies, 81 (67.5%) were first time views. This is one more than I watched last year and is my new second highest total. Also, I completed the basic checklist with no duplicates. As usual I quickly fell behind in reading the posts here. I had a great time and I want to say a big Thank You to Chad for all the effort he puts into this, all of the sponsors, and especially everyone who participated.
Media: Blu = 61 Streaming = 15 DVD = 42 VHS = 2
Decades: 1900-1910 (6 shorts), 1920s (6), 1930s (16), 1940s (3), 1950s (4), 1960s (8), 1970s (28), 1980s (20), 1990s (8), 2000s (8), 2010s (11), 2020s (5)
My favorite FTVs were:
The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1923) - Lon Chaney is awesome in this!
Symptoms (1974)
The Happiness of the Katakuris (2001)
The Deeper You Dig (2019)
Don't Go To Sleep (1982) surprisingly grim TV movie
I rewatched a lot of the early Universal horror movies all of which I enjoyed but I especially like The Black Cat (1934). It stars Karloff and Lugosi and was directed by Edgar G. Ulmer. I think this is the darkest and most twisted of all of these movies.
FTVs I would avoid if I were you:
Axeman at Cutters Creek (2020)
Demon Witch Child (1975)

The usual post challenge giveaway reminders...
The giveaways will be the same as last year - 3 "Mystery Prize Packs" courtesy of DVD Talk / Internet Brands (IBJoel). Two of them will be 'everyone' drawings (w/ additional entries for the usual categories). One of them will be reserved for the 'best list' winner.
Let me know you're interested by posting in here between 11/1 - 11/8.
Whether it's with your list stats or just to drop by and say hi. Just to let me know you haven't hightailed it out of here yet.
'Best List' voting is open. Please vote!
Lots of time and effort have been put into them, so your vote would be very much appreciated.
List stats are due by 11/8 (to qualify for the extra entries).
Categories for additional entries include '100 & Over', '50 & Over', '10 or More Challenges', '15 or More Challenges' and the completion of the subset, checklist and theme lists (1 entry for each completed).

I finished with 113 movies watched, 58 of them FTVs. Thanks to Chad and to all the participants (except for the Trump troll who needs to grow the hell up). I finished the Theme, Subset, and Checklist lists. (I missed 2 of the subset films, but I watched 2 of the optional films to balance out). This is my 14th challenge.

I watched a lot of sitcoms this year so it’s taking me a little longer than usual to get my list done. But I should have it done by the deadline.
Have I been completely out of it this month or was their no “guess the movies in the poster” contest this year?

Didn't get to participate much but did make it to 54 films, beating my goal of 50. Twenty-eight FTV, a few were ones that I'd known about since I was a child but never got around to watching. The Fury was my favorite flick I've known about forever but never got around to watching til now. Another was Marathon Man, but I was underwhelmed by it. Der Golem is another new favorite. I remember seeing images from it as a child and glad to have finally watched it. The Blu-ray looks gorgeous, like it was shot yesterday.
Thanks for running the challenge.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 17th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)
This year was much less focused for me than previous years. I do have some OCD for preparation, and that didn't really happen this time around. My list is finalized and stats are below:
Total films viewed 103. This is my EIGHTH year of the challenge. I'm in utter awe of the old timers who have done them all or most.
BLU-RAY - 44/103 (43%)
DVD - 4/103 (4%)
STREAMING - 55/103 (53%)
FIRST TIME VIEW ** 68%
I completed the Checklist, Theme Nights, and Subset Films.
It's kind of crazy how the convenience of streaming has taken root. I can watch some woman get sawed in half in the Jiffy Lube waiting room and get my oil changed. I'm a physical media guy, but the convenience of streaming makes it a very powerful tool for watching during downtime. I have every intention of knocking out my unviewed pile but that never goes to fruition.
I did have a good time with The Severed Arm (1973), Blood Quantum (2019) & Censor (2021). There were plenty of duds, but upon reflection I don't' have too much revulsion from any of them (Devil Story 1985 was pretty bad). Triangle (2009) has still got me thinking!
Finally I would like to thank Chad! Thanks a bunch for putting this thing on. It's a real highlight of the year. Thanks to everyone for the great suggestions and stimulating discussion. Battle Royale is horror btw!

Us (2019)
V/H/S (2012)
Hope everyone has a great holidays and new year!

My goal this year was 138 and I was able to hit 150. My secondary goal was to have 50% of my total be new films and thanks to Slaxx, I was able to reach that barely.
It was a fun year for me. I like that I chopped down my unwatched pile by a large margin. I went to the theater three times and it was great being back.
I completed the checklist, subset and theme nights.
Heres some other random stats:
55 - blu
44 - streaming
30 - dvd
9 - UHD
9 - vhs
3 - theatrical
Favorite subset pick - Road Games
Least favorite - the Untold Story

Although I feel like I didn't have much time or the usual thirst for horror this year, I still managed to get to 186, List is final, but thanks for having this every year.

Just finalized my list. I did pretty decently this year -- 140, which is my second-highest tally, I think? (Last year I had 150.) This was year # lucky 13 of participation for me.
Final Tally: 140
+ Films only: 116
+ First-time views (among films only): 89
Goals: All completed!
✓ 100+ films
✓ Daily themes
✓ Subset films
✓ Checklist
✓ Personal Challenges

As for things that fall off the list -- I figure if I didn't get to it before it fell off, I don't worry about it. But I'm only at 60% so I still have plenty to watch.
