I've been picking one movie a night on Shudder for the past few days. Nothing too amazing, but I had a good bit of fun with The Pool and Uncaged. The Shed was somewhat lacking, but it was still good for some things.

I haven't had time to watch much outside of some potential subset picks, but did squeeze in a couple.
Caught The Wretched during a Hulu trial. It was a predictable by-the-numbers flick, but still a fun watch. I think that was the one that played drive-ins and hit #1 at the post-COVID box office. Becky was also a one and done that's at least worth a rental. Kevin James was only semi-convincing in the nazi role, especially after hearing Simon Pegg was originally cast.

You actually watch potential subset picks? That must take forever!
Another film I watched recently and really loved was The Other Lamb. It may not be everyone's cup of tea. Def more of a chick flick. But I like religious/cult horror and it was right up my alley.

Well, I've already seen a good 85% or so of the current crop, and we're talking maybe five or six films so far. Just whatever's streaming free. And there's a couple from my own collection I might catch.

I'm actually taking my last two vacation weeks of the year in time for this year's challenge. One at the start and one at the end. I'm really looking forward to seeing if I can hit 100 again after a few years of not making it.

I'm the same way. I haven't taken any vacation days this year. It's partly out of a feeling I can't leave my department unattended and also less urgency to take days off when working from home. I'm planning to take at least the last week off, but any more than that depends on how much work I can get done ahead of time. October is always a really busy time at work.

I've got a record number of First Time Viewings set aside for this year's challenge. I have been purchasing horror titles all year, many of them blind buys, and this time around I actually had the restraint to mostly avoid them and watch old favorites instead. This should make for an epic challenge this year.

Here's the Turner Classic Movies October 2020 schedule:
https://www.ihorror.com/turner-class...02F7YjepW3Btok
Plenty of Hammer for the Hammer/Amicus theme. Also Rollerball, Dr. Strangelove, and some Noir that's on the list for some reason.
Again, it'll be up on the first post eventually.

I've been working on the They Shoot Zombies, Don't They list. I'm going to incorporate the titles I haven't yet seen in the top 200 into my challenge. So hopefully by the time the challenge is done, I'll have be done with the top 200. The list is definitely stretching me. I'm watching silent films and early 30's stuff I wouldn't otherwise have watched. And also movies I've avoided because I thought they were too torture-porn-y like Martyrs and Saw (both of which were not as bad as I anticipated).

Nothing like having a dog that enjoys horror too. I’m watching The Dark right now, and one of my boxer babies asked to climb up with me so she can watch too.

I tried holding out on starting Lovecraft Country (really good so far) till the challenge, but failed. But hey, there's always The Haunting of Bly Manor.

As usual, my plan is to wing it. While I don't have to travel out of town this October (due to Covid), we are planning to hold that event online, spread over two weeks. So there is still a lot of work to do. Winging it is my best option.
But I still plan to have fun with it!

I pulled aside a watch pile of more movies than I'll likely to get to next month and tried to sort them into theme day categories; which my wife tells me is a form of insanity.

Having the list thread up makes it feel like it is starting. Time to brainstorm some personal goals for the year. And we'll see how life gets in the way of them

Football isn't looking that great this year. There will be some good games yes, but not as plenty as past years. And who knows when hockey would start back up when they haven't even finished their season yet. But, looks like I'll have some extra room this year to have a better score. Looking forward to it. I signed up on the thread list, which inspired me to have an early viewing. So I picked Burnt Offerings. Which was fantastic.

I discovered something interesting while looking up Horrorhound #83. At www.horrorhound.com I found out that they are showing the Indianapolis Horrorhound convention virtually this year. For just $10 you could theoretically watch the entire film fest from your bedroom. From want I can gather, they will be showing 6 new or relatively new movies, 57 shorts, a Q&A session with Tony Todd, Robert Englund and Rick Baker. They also have after-hour events, including one on Atomic Age Cinema. They will also have the H2F2 awards ceremony. There will be other things of course, including a virtual selling room as I understand it. Anyway, look at the website, don't look at what I say as the final word. But if you are one of the people starting early, this runs the 18th-20th so it fits in that time frame. I wasn't planning on starting early but this has changed my mind. Even if I just watched the movies 6 movies for $10 is a great deal in my mind. Just thought I would pass this on to everyone.
