Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 16th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

I bought a couple things on Google Play that I might get to next month. First, I bought Queen Of The Damned to replace the DVD that my dog ruined many years ago. I also bought one of my favorite series, American Gothic . That was the show that made me a fan of Gary Cole. I also signed up for a year of Shudder a few weeks ago, plus I have the Total TV Deal, plus Starz on Sling TV. FilmRise looks like it has some interesting ghost shows. I just watched the first episode of Derek Acorah’s Ghost Towns , about haunted towns in England. I don’t have Amazon Prime anymore, but I found that Tubi has a lot of the movies that Prime has, along with other subscriptions I have. Even Disney+ has some family friendly Halloween movies.

I still don't know what I'm starting with...

Maybe The Frighteners? Psycho?

I’m going to start off with the Vineyard. That was my prize from last year.

I’m too busy with work to be able to come close to 100 (let alone my all-time record 121 from 2019). I’ll probably end up in the 30-50 range. And getting through my streaming horror backlog will feel good. I’ve been holding off on some movies since late last year.

Same here. All the more so that I bet the St Louis Cardinals moneyline today and its looking like a winner so far.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 16th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

I'm ready to catch up on my to watch pile. I still need to plan a few goals, set aside movies my wife is interested in joining me for, and run the current checklist through my script to find some high match titles, but I'm happy to be here after looking forward to it. With an October without a crazy push at work (please no jinx) and as of yet no travel planned for once, I'm pushing to break 100 again.

I decided to kick off my Challenge with a theme movie tonight. For the theme, I watched Godzilla Raids Again, which I have in the Classic Media set.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 16th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

I started this thing off with Brahm Stokers Dracula. One of my favorites. I pourposely starve myself of horror movies leading up to the challenge. This way, I'll be hungry to watch a bunch during the month. Which I'm planning to do.

So, what do we do? Just watch horror movies and post about them in this thread?

Forgive the newbie question, but this is my first year doing this.

I doubt I will achieve 100+ though. I will be lucky to get in 10-15, to be honest, but I'll make them count!

Hope that's okay...

Edit: I see each night is a theme, but we have freedom to choose from within those parameters?

Hi and welcome. I started this challenge a few years ago myself.
Watch however many you like and post what you watched in the LIST thread. Last year I only got about 20 in. (LIST thread: https://forum.dvdtalk.com/dvd-talk/6...%2A%2A%2A.html)
Each night is a theme. You can watch something with that theme if you want. There's also a "subset" film picked for that night by people in the group (there was a whole planning thread). You also watch that if you want. It just depends on how much of a perfectionist you are (or how much you want to do everything in the challenge).
For the nightly subset films, there's a thread where people can discuss them after watching.

The full list of theme nights and subset film for each night should now be updated at the top of this thread.

Have fun!

Arrow Video sale at iTunes. Almost all titles are $2.99.

Same here. I want to like Coppola's Dracula more than I do. I think Winona Ryder and Keanu Reeves sink the film for me.

Just an FYI, the Werewolves link for today’s themes is broken.

yeah, I’ve warmed to Keanu over the years, but when I first saw it, it was rough. Constantine started his rehabilitation, and currently I really think Coppola’s version is very high on the list.

Well I'm starting today with Beetlejuice and I haven't watched it in a really long time. I like something lite to start off in the morning.
