Interstellar, I think would work (I don't remember if they say the year, but it's in the future that hasn't happened yet). Star Trek: First Contact is one.

I’m thinking that I might try the checklist, but I will have to wait to put it on my list. I need a new laptop, as mine died a few weeks ago. I plan to order one when I get paid on the first.

Lost in Space (1998) in which a future Wil Robinson travels "back" to 2058 and encounters the ship he and his family left in to build a Hypergate on Alpha Prime. But that's a somewhat smaller segment of the movie and the main characters do not time travel so I'd say it's a somewhat tenuous entry.

Interstellar has a similarly tenuous link to that checklist item with a short segment where one of the people makes a similar journey in part of the movie. But, like LJG, I don't recall if they mentioned the year.

The only one I know of that truly fits the description is Star Trek: First Contact as most of the movie takes place in the past of the main characters but their past is our future.

Every other time travel movie I've seen or am familiar with are either "current" (with current usually being the year the movie was made) people traveling either back or forward in time *or* future people traveling back to "current" time.

No worries, even five entries on the checklist, gets you an extra entry into the prize drawing. I often wait towards the end to fill in some of my checklist that I'm missing. I don't plan on going through the checklists until the end of the challenge!

I'll keep an eye out on people's checklists and see if there are other movies that crop up. This item can easily be in place for just one challenge if there aren't enough movies to sustain it. Though...I feel like the older one doesn't have that many movies to support it either...or I did think about making those 2 one entry so you could chose which one to do.

Sunday seems like a good day to watch sci fi on Shout Factory TV. It’s a Super Sentai day. I just finished watching an episode of Gaoranger ​​​​​​, which was the Japanese version of Power Rangers: Wild Force.

Surely you jest... I was ready the day the list thread went up. Heck... I was ready the day *this* thread went up. I've been ready since at least January. I'm considering starting tonight (yes, I know it won't count) and came *this close* to starting this past weekend.

Thanks to my oldest granddaughter I have 3 new titles arriving in the next few days. She wanted to watch Maze Runner and asked if I had it. Of course I do... I think it's in a box in the garage, but might be in a tote inside, and I have no idea which box. But wait... it's a DVD and in looking up how much for a BR I discovered there are 3 movies in the series (I thought it ended after the first). So... I find "good" used BR/DVD copies of each film for a song and promptly ordered them.

But the one I'm most excited about is the pre-order I have for the Criterion release of George Pal's The War of the Worlds. It's a looooong time top 10 film favorite that I've wanted on BR since I started purchasing discs in that format.

Maze Runner, like Hunger Games and Divergent, is based on young adult book series. Must have been popular enough to get the rest of the books made. I do remember at least the sequel when it was out in the theaters, though I've only seen the first. You'll have to share how you enjoy them.

I think she'll like the movies better than me. She's 13 (turns 14 mid-December) and the target audience. I think she and some of her friends have been talking about this one. There's one friend she talks to almost all day who'll ask her about movies. My granddaughter will tell her "I think my Pa has a copy.", come and ask, and I almost always do which surprises her friend.

I figure the Maze Runner trilogy will run out of steam after that first movie - much like the others you mentioned. I mostly enjoyed the first movie in each of those but the sequels all felt rather derivative (well... in all fairness, so do the main movies, just not quite as much as the sequels). I guess for younger readers/viewers they feel more fresh as they don't have decades of seeing/reading different, often much better, versions of those stories. At least she's not asked to watch Eragon.

I forget the exact date, but last night while watching BBC America, I saw a commercial for a space week, where there will be a whole week of sci fi movies.

I have a question on the checklist. For the category Unrated films (post MPAA), would this include movies on Netflix rated TV-14 and TV-MA?

I'm thinking that they were made for TV, right? I would say as long as they are actual movies and don't contain a movie rating, then yes, that would count for Unrated Films.

As a subscriber to AT&Ts Unlimited Plan, I get HBO Max for free. And there is a lot of sci fi and fantasy on there. One movie I am looking forward to watching is Godzilla: King Of The Monsters.
