Enjoying 100 Bloody Acres for today's theme it's a gorey comedy of errors; also the subset film Boar was not bad.
I wish more theaters did this sort of thing; when I lived in Austin Alamos Drafthouse use to have cheap, near free, midnight screenings of cult films and that was fun.
I was planning to check out more of the Into the Dark series films - I'd heard good things about Pooka at least but didn't realize there were so many of them. That could be a challenge in itself.
Severin has been on fire lately; their tshirts and enamel pins are fun too.

One thing I love about this genre is how quirky it can be. There are some really odd horror movies out there. It makes even some bad movies very watchable.

Going from Fernando Di Leo's sleazetastic Slaughter Hotel and following that up with Disney's The Haunted Mansion was an odd transition. Really didn't expect to enjoy the latter as much as I did either.
Very true. Watching From Hell It Came this morning was the perfect example for me.

It's been confirmed - Joe Bob’s Halloween Hootenanny on Shudder will be a triple feature streaming live at 9PM EST on 10/25.
https://bloody-disgusting.com/tv/358...ig9svDon3694GY
Sounds like the original 1978 Halloween will be one of the features. I might actually consider watching it then, which would be the first time watching it before Halloween day since forever. No hints so far on the other two.

Dead and Rotting may have been the longest 72 minutes of my life.

I also have watched one of the worst movies of my life today - Encounter with the Unknown (1972) I found this on Amazon Prime after the poster prominently displayed that it was narrated by Rod Serling. I didn't know before I watched this that in his later years, Serling did narration for hire, and I naively assumed he had more to do with the film than just the narration. I have never seen a movie with more filler. Scenes dragged on forever, and we repeatedly get scenes that just happened replayed. One particular moment when a hex is dictated to 3 young men was replayed at least 7 times! Avoid at all costs!
As for highlights from the challenge so far, I watched Hello Mary Lou, Prom Night II for the first time and this was an absolute blast! Way better than the first Prom Night, in my opinion, and something I definitely plan to watch again in the future. This is also on Amazon Prime, though it looks like VHS quality.
Another surprise was Deadly Eyes, which may be the best killer rat movie ever made.

Well, I was digging through some movies yesterday, and The Living Corpse fell into my lap. I think it also goes by Dracula in Pakistan. Such an oddity to me to see a song and dance number in a horror movie.

Three first time watches last night. Bad Taste, Mom & Dad and In The Tall Grass. I won’t be in a hurry to see any of them again.
Bad Taste was terrible and not even in the way it’s supposed to be. I couldn’t wait until that was over.
Mom & Dad had an interesting premise, but the kids just dragged the movie down. I do appreciate unhinged Nic Cage though.
In The Tall Grass was a huge disappointment. I was really looking forward to it and it just didn’t deliver.

Had a first time watch last night about a rampaging grizzly where it was a real bear that was used. I was pleasantly surprised. The movie was called, aptly enough, Bear, and was on Tubi.
This morning I was watching the local news, and there was a recurring segment where one of the reporters was on location at a haunted bed and breakfast. The same one they said will be on tonight’s episode of Most Terrifying Places In America , on Travel Channel.

I may need someone to explain to me how Valentine is a good slasher film. Occasionally I hear people talk about Valentine being good or their favorite kill and I suspect that is just a viral Shout Factory marketing campaign to sell a video they got the rights to and blew money on their cover art guy.
Edit: Valentine the 2001 slasher.

I noticed Valentine and Bear on Tubi, but I'm hesitant for both. I do love a rampaging bear movies though, even when the bear is smarter than the average bear.....

So we're facing a 24-hour power outage from PG&E starting at 4am tomorrow. My movie-watching will obviously take a hit, but I'll be keeping the festivities alive by listening to old, spooky radio dramas that I ripped to CD earlier (Gotta whip out the ol' battery-powered boombox for that) In a way, i'm looking forward to it because it gives me a chance to be transported back to a time when radio dramas were the norm.
Btw, I've been meaning to check out some recent subset picks, but I can only watch them on my PC, which is being used by the family nearly 24/7. I'll likely have to wait til the weekend to catch up on them.

But...if I remember correctly, at the time it came out, there were very few slashers being made anymore. The Scream clones, which weren't really the same style as the 80's slashers, had slowly died off and The Blair Witch Project was the new thing to rip off. So, Valentine came out and I remember a few people being enamored with it because it wasn't full of movie references and seemed more old school in nature with the kills. I did enjoy the Katherine Heigl death scene, but I think at that time, it was just considered good because it was a bit of a throwback to older school slasher horror and not the fads of the moment. There was no Amazon Prime or Netflix to stream the older stuff, so we were at "New Release" mercy at Blockbuster. Nowadays, I don't hear anyone talk about it anymore.
