I'll probably knock as many Friday the 13th movies out as a I can. Make it an all-day marathon. Maybe a couple of episodes of Friday the 13th: The Series if I get anxious to do something else, seeing as how I'm about to start the last season anyway. I recently did a werewolf movie binge about a month ago, so I'll probably wait to revisit until werewolf day next month.

Jason Takes Manhattan is one of my favourties. Lot's appear not to enjoy it at all but I've always held close to my heart. I remember renting it on VHS when it first came out and was obsessed with it for awhile.

While I wouldn't call JTM one of my favorites, I don't think it's nearly as bad as it's made out to be... then again, I think the same way for Jason Goes To Hell. Jason X is the only one of the series I really don't like at all.

Final Chapter is my favorite by far. It's one of the few cases where the characters feel three dimensional. I was actually bummed as they get killed off. It's also one of the scarier entries, along with part II.

Oh, I love it too, and don't really get the hatred for it. In fact, I love them all to be honest. That includes, part 5, Goes to Hell, X, ...even the 2009 remake, or whatever it was. Just wish I could say the same for the Halloween franchise.

And I can never pick a favorite, but 2, 4, and 6 are definitely up there. Part 3's also a blast in 3D.

Part 6 is my favorite of the series and probably one of my favorite horror films altogether, but Part 4 is my second favorite with Part 2 and probably New Blood close behind.

Here's the Blu-ray/UHD/HD guide to the subsets I forgot to post yesterday. Just keep in mind it's a very shoddily put together list. I only listed the other regions if it wasn't available or OOP in the US with maybe a couple of exceptions. Also I only included streaming if it was the only HD source.

Videodrome - On Blu-ray from Criterion.

Viy - Severin LE Blu-ray OOP, retail version "coming later this year". Also on Blu-ray in Japan but OOP (I think). On Shudder in HD.

Phenomena - On Blu-ray from Synapse. Also in UK from Arrow (region B).

The Hills Run Red - DVD only, but is available to rent in HD on Prime.

Nina Forever - On Blu-ray as double feature with "Imitation Girl". Also available in the UK from Studio Canal.

Tigers Are Not Afraid (2017) - On Blu-ray in the UK. Currently a Shudder exclusive.

Audition - On Blu-ray from Arrow.

One Cut of the Dead - On Blu-ray in the UK, Japan, and HK. Another Shudder exclusive.

976-EVIL - On Blu-ray from Sony.

Der Fan - On Blu-ray from Mondo Macabro. Red case LE is sold out, but retail edition is available.

[REC]³ Genesis - On Blu-ray with all four films from Scream Factory.

The Prey - On Blu-ray 9/17 from Arrow.

Cat People (1942) - On Blu-ray from Criterion.

Death Spa - On Blu-ray from MPI.

Disconnected - On Blu-ray from Vinegar Syndrome. Slipcover LE sold out, but non-slip edition available.

Dead End - DVD only, but available to rent in HD on YouTube, Google Play, and Vudu.

Wer - On Blu-ray in Germany.

Mausoleum - On Blu-ray from Vinegar Syndrome. Slipcover LE sold out, but non-slip edition available.

Final Exam - On Blu-ray from Scream Factory.

The Mummy's Curse - On Blu-ray separately and on "The Mummy: Complete Legacy Collection".

The House That Screamed - On Blu-ray from Scream Factory.

Wes Craven's New Nightmare - On Blu-ray box set with all the others. Also available on Blu-ray LE digibook separately in Germany as "Nightmare on Elm Street 7: Freddy's New Nightmare".

Us - On UHD and Blu-ray.

The Faculty - On Blu-ray.

A Nightmare on Elm Street 4: The Dream Master - On Blu-ray box set with all the others. Also available on Blu-ray LE digibook separately in Germany.

Vault of Horror - On Blu-ray as a double feature from Scream Factory with "Tales from the Crypt".

The Fury - On Blu-ray from Twilight Time but OOP. Also available from Arrow UK (region B).

God Told Me To - On Blu-ray from Blue Underground.

Zombie [Zombi 2] - On Blu-ray from Blue Underground.

Monster House - On Blu-ray and 3D Blu-ray.

Society - On Blu-ray from Arrow.

House of 1000 Corpses - On Blu-ray.

Boar - On Blu-ray in Australia and Germany in LE Mediabook. Yet another Shudder Exclusive.

The Seventh Curse - DVD only, but OOP. A Greek all region DVD edition put out by Silver Star can be found on eBay. On Prime/AsianCrush.

Return to Horror High - On Blu-ray in the UK from 88 Films.

I have the DVD of this series. I didn't think that the video quality was all that good. I did like the two part episode The Quilt of Hathor.
I have used that a couple of times for the challenge.

I'm planning on starting out Friday the 13th tomorrow with The Snarling, which I don't know much about but is on Morbidly Beautiful's list of '35 Best Indie Horror Films of 2019,' we'll see about that...
https://morbidlybeautiful.com/best-indie-horror-2018/

Edit: Also Another Wolf Cop and maybe F13: New Blood.

I just took a look at the very first challenge we did. 2005 lists. I had a grand total of...um, 15.
It was neat to re-visit the first season anyhow.

Horror anthologies always surprise me - every year it seems like there are new horror anthologies, and anthology does not seem like an especially common format otherwise. Looking forward to checking out Field Guide to Evil and Nightmare Cinema this year - despite lukewarm reviews I've heard.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 15th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

For the bonus Friday the 13th/full moon day, has anyone noticed anything interesting (maybe a newer movie) on either Netflix or Amazon Prime? Though there are a few things I have physical copies of that I've been meaning to get around to. The Black Cat (1934), The Wolf Man (1941), Ginger Snaps, and Cat People (1982).

Last year I couldn't make a run at 100 since I had a new course prep in the Fall (I'm a college professor) and that takes up a lot of time. But nothing new this Fall. And unlike some of you, I'll gladly take the bonus day to get a little head start.

I'll have to get back into my Dark Shadows coffin set DVDs. I was making great pace through them, but I just stalled out around episode 900 (getting into the "Leviathans" story line). In theory, Dark Shadows drawing inspiration from Lovecraft's Cthulhu mythos sounds great. But the execution seems to be a bit of drag (and that was the general impression I got from others as well). But the end of the series is in sight (I think it stops shortly after 1200 episodes) so I can't give up now!

I know it will probably be terrible, but I've been holding off on this horror anthology in my Amazon Prime queue for months:

I wasn't sure what to watch but with the anniversary this year, maybe I'll pick Part VIII. I'll probably only get to one on Friday so I need to pick wisely.

Just one correction that Phenomena was released by Synapse.

I did some more digging and it looks like a dvd of The Seventh Curse (1986) can be had, with caveats. There's a Greek dvd edition, put out by Silver Star, that is legit and can be had for a reasonable price. The easiest place to find it is Ebay, bearing in mind, it's Ebay. It's non-anamporphic and PAL, but it is R0.

Finally upgraded my Panny plasma to an LG OLED last month, so real excited for this. Wish it were being released in October but I'll take November...

They did. For the time being I was only including other regions if they weren't available in the US, but I'll add them. I plan on updating the list with all available regions soon.

I don't think I've ever been more excited for a 4K release. I'll gladly double-dip on that one.

I'm really hoping that'll also open the door for other boutique labels to start offering UHD releases.

Video quality isn't good. The series hasn't held up well, either (imo), but I've never watched it all the way through, so I'm two seasons in now. I really liked Prophecies (the next episode on my watch), so I'll see how it holds up soon. Just one more season to go, but I'm not sure I'll spend much of the challenge on it. Going to try and knock it out before the series fully begins.

Thanks, makes my upcoming job easier.

Just don't forget The Seventh Curse is on Prime and AsianCrush. And One Cut is coming sometime this month to Shudder according to Fangoria.

I need to give Screambox a try.

Just think of it as a day with two themes, and one is getting another go-around in October.

I'll post another reminder the day before in here and on Facebook.
Post bump since I can't get the Facebook post to embed.

Multiple counts was the clear-cut winner.
