Holy shit. I JUST realized that Chris Hardwick was in this. I might have to rewatch it.

Bruce Payne

Themes:
15 year Anniversary - Watch movies that are 15 years old

Ok that's all I got at the moment...

Interesting that you mention Klaus Kinski. Crawlspace was on MGM HD yesterday.

I've noticed that Larry Cohen is in 3 spots. Producer, Director and Recently Deceased. Does he really need to be in all three categories?

Glad to see this did end up getting added to the Shudder lineup since I saw that it may be in an article a while ago and look forward to host it as a subset. I have read good things in indie movie reviews so hoping it’s a hidden gem as we horror fans know finding those are always fun (haven’t seen it myself) so I thought it’d be an interesting one to suggest.

He'll be contained to the RIP list on the actual checklist, just like John Carl Buechler since they're both already themes. In fact, I believe he was already on the producer's list last year.

I had to take a breather, but I'll start the checklist construction on Monday night. I'll have all the new suggestions plus links updated by then and we can continue building from there.

Just wondering, how far are we from finalizing the date for each theme night / subset film? Or is the subset list ready to roll as is?

There's a handful I'm still shuffling around, but I should have them all in their permanent spots in a day or two.

Re: Pre-Horror Challenge 15: Building of the Optional Lists (Themes, Subset, & Checklist)

Some suggestions:

Composer:
• Joseph Bishara

Maybe for the "films you've never seen" section?

• Takes place in a castle
• Features a vampire/monster hunter
• Features a scene in a morgue
• Death by silver bullet
• Features a character being chased through the woods

Maybe remove Classic Hammer film, since it's down in the Anniversary section?

Re: Pre-Horror Challenge 15: Building of the Optional Lists (Themes, Subset, & Checklist)

Actors:
Billy Zane
Ted Raimi

Composers:
Shirley Walker
Elisabeth Lutyens

Producers:
Brad Fuller

Possibly switch out the Arquette family with the Baldwin brothers. Alec is pretty much useless here, but William, Stephen and Daniel all have 4-15 horror films credits each.

I especially like the new OHMC favorites addition, very nice.
This is a huge chunk of the list - might it make sense to list the recently deceased in a separate reference post and simplify the checklist to something like:

You got my hopes up but the article is quite pessimistic. It's odd how studios will spend millions filming a movie then just trash elements.
"The unused footage ...it was in such poor shape it was no longer usable. Anderson himself has recently reaffirmed this, seemingly dashing any hope of the lost footage re-emerging from a black hole, like the titular ship itself."

I really like those 2 picks.

Hell Ted Raimi could be a separate checklist item. 'Watch a movie where Ted Raimi dies.' Or go super hard 'Watch a movie starring Ted Raimi where he doesn't die.'

Alec does have Beetlejuice, and I'm surprised it doesn't have a horror tag on IMDB. Most places categorize it as Comedy/Fantasy/Horror.

We just keep rubbing more salt in that wound.

I just wanted to use the year the challenge started even if it technically hasn't been 15 years.
