Diary of a Mad Housewife

Does anyone have any idea as to why the 1970 movie 'Diary of a Mad Housewife' has not made it to DVD?

Wow, third reference to a Frank Perry movie I've seen today. (The others were on Facebook referencing THE SWIMMER and LADYBUG, LADYBUG.) I saw DIARY back in 1971, when it played on a double bill with TWO MULES FOR SISTER SARA, a western starring Clint Eastwood and Shirley Maclaine.

'The Swimmer' is possibly Burt Lancaster's most outstanding performance.

As for 'Diary of a Mad Housewife', it's Richard Benjamin who kinda makes that movie for me. Carrie Snodgress was kinda cute, but didn't stay that way for long.

I remember seeing "The Swimmer" for the first time on "The CBS Late Movie" a thousand years ago and was just stunned at the end.

This probably should've been moved to DVD Talk forum since it's DVD-related.

Perry is one of the most underappreciated of American directors. The Swimmer is one of the great films of the sixties, not to mention one of the most unconventional and haunting of films. Last Summer is also excellent, and Diary of a Mad Housewife and Play it as it Lays are both fine films.

It is, yes.

Also, TCM has shown it a couple of times this past year.

I'm guessing it's because of music rights related to the Alice Cooper Band scene.

It's not the only early Richard Benjamin movie that's difficult to get hold of on DVD. I think it may be an anti-RB plot.

It's finally scheduled for release on DVD for the first time.

Kino Lorber is supposed to be releasing it in mid 2020, according to Wikipedia.
