Safe Lists
The following lists are Automatic Safe lists. They are not definitive and there might be exceptions therein, especially concerning Distributors. Generally, the presence of those on the lists in an actual creative capacity (that is, more than just a cameo or bit part. For instance, Bruce Campbell appearing in Spider-Man does not make Spider-Man safe) is enough to make a film safe. Got more? Post them and I'll update the list. Obviously, films not including these participants are safe, too. Update: I added several new names to the actors list. Some of these actors appeared in actual big budget Hollywood fare, but most of their career was in B-Movies, then obviously discard the Big Hollywood movies and just watch the B's (For example, William Shatner. Ignore Star Trek movies but anything else is fair game. Or Patrick Swazye. Ghost is probably not right, but most of his other films were B-Movies).

Re: 10th Annual Drive-in/Exploitation/B-movie Challenge. April 1-30, 2019

I've been a citizen of the interwebs since probably 1995, and briefly in 1989 during the BBS days. I was still able to remember most of the films I had seen as a child in the 70s and 80s enough to discuss them. Twenty years ago I was winning trivia contests on AOL chat but damned if I could do that now. Now, I find myself far enough removed from those days that those films are gone. It's like my movie memories are on a sliding scale of about 20-25 years and most earlier stuff might as well be brand new movies to me. I'm watching The Deadly Mantis, which I know I saw on a local movie host's show in my single digits, but I can't remember a thing from it other than the giant mantis. I'm marking it as a "never before seen" despite probably having seen it 40+ years ago. It occurs to me that I don't remember the plot of a single Godzilla movie. I can only remember a handful of Vincent Price movies. It's kind of one of the nice things about these challenges, revisiting old films I've forgotten. In the case of this challenge, old films I'd heard of but was not allowed to see. But still, it sucks getting old.

While I realize that the channel itself has been out for few years, Dish just recently got a new channel added to their lineup that should be a good channel for this Challenge. Dish got Comet a few days ago, and it looks like the movies are a good fit for this Challenge. It looks like b horror and sci fi movies are part of the movie lineup at least.

"Not changing a word"? Sounds suspicious to me. Obviously it's scripted, but I can't believe he couldn't alter a tense of phrase. "If Larry Cohen continues to write scripts into 2020, he will have been writing in 8 decades." A cool line, but 7 decades is still impressive.

Anybody else watching Q right now? Interesting sound mix. Whenever there’s an attack, the sound gets cranked up!

I had to spoilerize my list because there's some weird bug that causes huge spacing in between movies whenever I edit the post. Other than hating this layout, I'm still having fun with this challenge.

The same thing happens to me. I get extra spaces right after the picture in my post and have to delete them.

I'm also having a good challenge. I really enjoyed the oxploitation film Wake in Fright though I found the hunting scenes (featuring real footage) to be extremely disturbing. I also checked out my BDs of Dolemite (which looks so good) and Shin Godzilla. I'm trying to fit in as much in the beginning of the month, because I start to get super busy in a couple weeks.

Had Wild Things sitting on my DVR for months. Finally watched it. It wasn't as bad as I had been led to believe. Extremely twisty plot though

The late 90s film? People told you it was bad? You don’t need people like that in your life.

All this talk of Wild Things (1998) made me go a-lookin' and I ended up finding Wild Thing (1987), a fun urban vigilante/Tarzan mashup. I ended up renting it from Prime, but it is available for free (watch with ads) from Vudu. Should have checked Vudu first.

I was trying to find something to watch for tonight, and I got to thinking, ‘Why not some Stooges?’ I dug out Volume 4 of the Complete Collection, and just finished ‘They Stooge To Conga’, in which they are handymen who come upon a nest of Axis spies. There was one scene where Curly had a light bulb in his ear that reminded me of Fester from The Addams Family.

Just a heads up about the movie Dangerous Youth streaming free with Prime. It's touted as "Classic 1950's JD Schlock" so of course I had to check it out. An English JD/singer gets drafted into the Army and gets into a whole bunch of trouble. The problem is that the movie runs around 18 minutes less that the runtime listed on IMDB. It seems that at least one song was cut (maybe no big deal) and there is also a big gap in the middle where significant events leading up to the trouble are just not there. Beware.

Tripped over my Drive-In Delirium: ’60s and ’70s Savagery bd yesterday and decided to watch "The '60's" portion today, which clocks in at about an hour and fifty minutes, as opposed to "The '70's" which clocks in at about four or five hours. If I get around to "The '70's" for the Challenge I'll definitely be watching it in smaller chunks of around 90 minutes or 2 hours a pop.

^I did a trailer compilation last night too. Something Weird Video’s Dusk to Dawn show Volume 1. Surprisingly, there were a few trailers for movies that I’ve never heard of. Like Hell’s Chosen Few, Scream Baby Scream And The Bull Buster!

That's pretty much my list, but with TT 2&3, Ozploitation Trailer Explosion (a blast), Trashsploitation (from SRS, and it is trash), Exhumed Films: 20 Years of Terror and minus For a Few Previews More.

I recently got through Grindsploitation 2: The Lost Reels. It's not bad considering it's from Troma, although I don't think it technically qualifies as a trailer comp since it's faux trailers and short films. I'll just save part 3 for next year.

You reminded me of a couple I have that I missed (Ozploitation) and I remembered I have one Something Weird compilation (Extra Weird Sampler).

My memory has also been jogged about the need to get Video Nasties: The Definitive Guide Parts 1 & 2.

Karate: Hand of Death should also get a recommendation on the trailer compilation list. I thought the disc had long been OOP, but deepdiscount currently has it for $9. The bonus feature, "Incredible Mayhem Martial Arts Trailer Show" was more satisfying than Kung Fu Trailers of Fury to me. Mostly because the trailers are marketed towards the English-speaking crowd with the Drive-In/Grindhouse POV.

Forgot that one as well; it's in my collection too. Apparently it didn't leave as good an impression. I should revisit it.
