DVD bought from japan

Hi im new here! and i have no clue about this on the DVD that i bought.

there are 3 dvd and 1 worked so far
the other 2 dvd just refused to play on any of my pc's video player (vlc, mediaplayer, etc)

but the files are all readable on the DVD except there is one video file that seems to be hidden and even if i tried copying it on my desktop it says the computer could not read that part
take note these are all brand new and sealed dvds with no scratch whatsoever.

Hope anyone has an idea! thanks! I have no clue what to do!

I can't speak to your problem with that file except note that it's nearly 4GB and maybe your file system (or some other aspect of your computer) can't handle the size. If you really think the disks may be damaged, you could scan them with a program like OptiDriveControl (https://www.cdspeed2000.com/), Nero DiskSpeed, or others. I typically scan at 4x unless there are problems. I assume you know that Japanese DVD's are typically region 2, so a multi-region DVD player would be necessary, but VLC usually handles anything you throw at it. I tried just now with a R2 Japanese DVD of my own with no issues. When VLC refuses to play the disk, how does it respond?

Could also be region coding, as Japan is Region 2.

It's definitely not the size of the file. DVD files are just at the limit for FAT32. Likely copy protected. You have to properly rip/decrypt DVDs, you can't just copy the files to your computer. You want to go over to Videohelp.com. This site is more about commercial releases. We can't help you rip files that are protected.

Use Doom9's forum, which has all the answers you'll want on questions like this one.

I feel confused why one VOB file is so small and the other VOB file is so much, around 3.787GB in size. It seems weird, cuz usually the maximum size of a VOB file is 0.99GB.
