100 Movies. 31 Days. The 14th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/31)

Good recommendation. I watched this last night and enjoyed it. I liked how the story morphed:
As expected, I'll finish in the 60-70 range. Sucks that Halloween falls on a Wednesday, since I have no time for viewing in the middle of the week this year (except for scattered tv episodes). But I've still managed to clear out much of my streaming queues, get around to some rewatches, and make a further dent in my Barnabas Coffin Dark Shadows DVD collection (maybe I'll be finished by next Hallween!)

I hoped to get 4 or 5 in today, but a house showing popped up for 6pm that is screwing up my whole day. Our farm has been on the market since April and it's been hellish. So disruptive. Hopefully I can get in at least 2 including the subset film.
I wish I could watch a film while I clean the way I can listen to an audiobook, but it just doesn't work because I move from room to room too much and I, like, need my eyes for cleaning.

Just finished it and was kind of blown away by it. I've been trying to minimize my streaming this year because I have so much physical media at the house it feels like I'm selling out. Netflix has some pretty good stuff this time of year. I may try and fit in the followup to 13 Cameras tonight after Brainscan if I have the stamina.

I feel that way, too, but between travel to my college reunion at the beginning of the month and going to the hospital in the middle, streaming movies on my phone has been a lifeline.

Chad, in planning for tomorrow, I see that several of the theme links are down. Looks like buried.com hit a bandwidth cap. Anyone save a backup of those lists? Or maybe I’ll look for this way back machine thing I’ve heard people talk about.....
Search engine archives are pretty cool!
Broken links for tomorrow’s themes:
Witchcraft
https://web.archive.org/web/20160817.../Witchcraft/1/
Satanic
https://web.archive.org/web/20180110...ywords/Satanic
Demonic possession

Rules Question
Not that a care about one more in my total, but for clarity and maybe other’s use, what would the ruling be on seeing a live performance of a qualifying item more than once? In my case it was the MST3K tour and their live riff of the incredibly bad in a good way film The Brain. Obviously, the film and bulk of the riffing was basically the same, but there were obvious ad-libs and different performances in the two shows.

Glad Stephanie was mentioned because I kept passing it over due to that horrendous Netflix cover art. Enjoyed it.
Clarification. It was actually Friend Request, not Unfriended: the 2013 version with Anthony Michael Hall, and Prime had the description listed for the other Friend Request from 2016 that I have yet to see. Also neither are affiliated with Blumhouse, so faith restored in them.
Yep.
Went against my every instinct and watched Unfriended to meet today's theme. Instantly regretted it, and it'll easily go down as the worst watch of the challenge. It was extremely restrained with the absolute worst acting straight out of an After School special. I noticed it was filmed in Salt Lake City, so maybe some Mormon affiliation? Definitely felt more like a morality tale than a horror film. Surprised to hear it was produced by Blumhouse and they gave it a sequel??
Washing it down tonight with Spontaneous Combustion and maybe a revisiting of Repulsion.

Only Hoopla apparently, although you can find almost everything in YouTube. And Spine Tingler: The William Castle Story is on Kanopy.

Today for mind games I managed to get 3 in, though I wish I'd had more movie time today. I enjoyed them all. Brainscan was good. Definitely on point for the mind games theme too. I also watched an old Hammer that's been on my list for ever, Nightmare (1964). It's essentially a gaslighting story and works well for mind games. It was decent. The last one was Backtrack (2015), which I have never seen and picked to get a Sam Neill I hadn't already watched. It's a good movie, a psychological thriller (also Horror in imdb) but it's more of a ghost story than mind games. I recommend if if you've never seen it.

Is this anyone's 10th horror challenge?
This is the list so far from last year's '10 or more challenges' category:

This year completes my 10th year of the challenge, which is hard to believe - gorey details in my signature.
