I got one movie in before the news hit here in Pittsburgh. Good thing I'm almost to 100 because it will be tough to rack up a lot of (additional) horror today.

What happened?

I didn't get any horror last night, thanks to a seven hour world series game. By the time it ended, I went straight to bed.

Saw Halloween in theaters today. It was awesome.

Awful about the Pittsburg shooting. I could say a lot about it, but I reckon we want to keep this space politics free.

yes I watched it earlier this month and really enjoyed it. Kane is very honest and open about his early childhood and the accidental fire stunt. Recommended.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 14th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/

I had a momentary freak out last night regarding my list. I was updating it for the new day when I discovered I had the wrong date. I was showing it should be a day earlier. I wondered if I had perhaps forgot to input a full day or if something didn't save correctly or got overwritten somehow.

The one thing I knew was I've watched at least one theme movie each day. So, I had to go through each day and look to see what I marked for the theme. It turns out that on the day I watched Who Can Kill a Child? I forgot to start a new day. I just put the movies as if it were still the previous day. I guess I didn't pay attention each subsequent day I wrote the new date. I'd just check on the theme or subset area of my list, which was updated, to plan that day's viewing. Luckily, I found the mistake after some frantic searching. That's the first time I've had a list mishap like that in all these years.

Huge thanks to Golden Wheels for getting my prize pack out to me in what has to be record time. Absolutely incredible package of movies definitely helped to lift my spirits for the day.

My son insisted we watch Wicked, Wicked right out of the gate due to the "Duovision" gimmick. What an odd fucking movie, haha.

Pretty ashamed to admit this, but until today, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a full Joe Bob Briggs show. Familiar with him of course, and have seen clips, but didn’t watch much TV in the 80s and 90s and somehow just missed him. Wish I hadn’t, would have loved him. Took a few bits before I really warmed up to him, but man I love his rants.

I think it would have been easy to overlook Joe Bob Briggs in during his era, an age before the internet to cue us into things. I was lucky enough to happen on his 'Monstervision' show and remember a few of the episodes (they made The Beast Within fun). Cable did a lot of cool stuff around that time, like TBS' 'dinner and a movie' movies with recipes and cooking segments or Gilbert Godfried in Up All Night. Beyond often good movies these helped give a better sense of watching with friends. Now that I'm not sure many people watch broadcast television and uninterrupted digital streaming is king there's something likely lost in the art of hooking viewers in between commercial breaks (which I never thought I'd miss).

I’m on par to end with just around 20. Not my best, not my worst.
We’re in a new house with lots of projects going on, plus work has been insane.

It is what it is. I am enjoying what I’ve watched so far. I finally managed to see Night of the Demons 2 & 3 (after watching my new BR of the first movie from SF). Was pleasantly surprised with the 2nd movie. The third one... not so much.

The Internet was in its infancy back then, but it existed (Remember ICQ and bulletin boards?). There was an IRC group where people mass watched Monstervision, and eventually TNT hosted a discussion site for the show. For today's theme I watched Hellraiser, which is covered in both ways: it was on the cover of Fangoria #67, and it's hosted by Joe Bob Briggs on Amazon Prime, prefaced by a rant on Kaepernick, the NFL, and Trump.

Everything he does is rad but his rants are what make him the best.

It was there for a bit, hahaha. The anxiety of the Red Sox game knocked it out thankfully.

I never watched him much either, but I did catch one of the recent Shudder appearances/movies and liked it. I watched I Spit On Your Grave (78) with his commentary for the commentary checklist item and he was great. Blunt and real but very broad-minded. It was fun to listen to him defend the feminism of the movie over the reviewers who said it was exploiting women (I agree with him). Really good.

Here is perhaps a best link for the theme.

It is Rue Morgue you acquired the complete collection of, correct? Do you store yours in a particular way or just box them up? Really not that many choices I guess. I need to find an indoor location for my mags as now that I'm in IL the weather gets quite a bit colder and the garage is not going to work out for long term storage.

I'm not participating this year, but I've still been watching plenty of movies. This video showed up in my youtube recommendations and I thought I would share it here.

Yes, I’m at least 90% complete in Rue Morgue. In theory, they’ll all end up in magazine size comic drawer boxes; but for now, they’re just in random boxes and piles spread around my increasingly Alan Smithee-like house.

Was anyone successful in pulling off an all-nighter for the marathon, or did you fail miserably like me? I sputtered out after only seven; gave up after back-to-back bad decision making with sleep-inducing gems like Star Crystal and The Soultangler. I probably would've stuck it out for the long haul if Shudder was doing another live Joe Bob-thon.

I'd recommend giving his books a try too, especially Profoundly Disturbing.

^ I ended up with a grand total of the marathon day being 1 episode of a Halloween sitcom.
