In terms of the movie, most of the humor is pretty infantile, and the villains this time around are really lame, so the climax wasn't very exciting, however I just find myself enjoying the tone of these films. I love the over-the-top 80s throwbacks we've been getting in recent years, so I thought this was a nice palette cleanser in a challenge full of heavier films. If you're finding yourself getting sick of stuff like Kung Fury, you probably won't enjoy this.

I'll take the unpopular opinion and say that I never cared much for those films. I remember wanting to walk out of it at the theater but didn't because I was with friends. It turns out all but one wanted to walk out, too. I thought the second one was better.
I had one of my first breaks for the challenge yesterday. After getting in the theme film, my friends and I watched the latest American Horror Story episode and then watched some of the new Halloween episodes. The Goldbergs episode was a lot of fun. For those who don't know, it featured the youngest son becoming terrified after watching Nightmare on Elm Street for the first time. The big bonus is you actually get a scene with Robert Englund playing Freddy again. I had no idea he was going to be on.
I have a couple more Halloween specials still on the DVR. I might watch them tonight. It's a nice change of pace. Plus, it allows me to take some stuff off the DVR, which was at less than 10% when I started watching stuff last night. If the month were much longer, I'd be in serious trouble with space.

I've been catching up on Netflix originals (whether done by direct contract or distro deal) and I've been having a blast with them. The Babysitter has been talked about a lot I'm sure, but wasn't until this month that I watched it, and it was such a treat! Caught Stephanie last night and was subtly blown away by it. Malevolent also was a lot of fun. But The Ritual is hands-down the most enjoyable horror movie I've seen in years. It's a solid movie from start to finish, and the creature is the best since Pan's Labyrinth. I've seen some unfair reviews regarding the ending, but I found it to be equally as strong as the rest of the story. I'll spare any details for those that haven't watched it yet.
There's some others I've caught but these are the stand-outs for me. I'm so happy there's someone producing such quality horror entertainment. I also need to check into those horror shows they've been producing as of late. I've heard good things so looking forward to those sometime.

Linus: "You've heard of the fury of a woman scorned, haven't you?"
Charlie Brown: "Yeah, I guess I have."
Linus: "Well, that's nothing compared to a woman who has been cheated out of tricks-or-treats."

Speaking of Video Nasties, what the hell is Night School doing on there? There's clearly far gorier slashers from that era that didn't even make the list. I really need to watch those two documentaries Severin released on DVD a few years back.

Werewolf and The Yeti is the biggest headscratcher for me on there.

^That's definitely another WTF entry. Also reminds me I've been Naschy-free this challenge and need to watch The Devil Incarnate.
Also speaking of MM releases, just giving a heads up that this starts tomorrow morning since there's a few red case collectors in here. Best I've done so far is #3/666 with that very title.

Chad, what are the “rules” on the sub-theme tomorrow of Fangoria? Any film featured on the cover?

I am finally starting to hit my limit. Yesterday I watched 5 films. I had time for one more and several options picked out, but my brain was just like "nope".
I'm up to 105 and we're entering the home stretch. I still have 4-6 films planned per day and some checklist items I knew I'd hit with the latter films left to get. 6 more days!

I'm so excited about my progress with the checklist. I've got sixteen checks to complete and am track to do it by the end of the month. This is the first time I've come anywhere close to completing the checklist! I've probably got time for 16-20 more films this month so I'll fall a little short of 100 which is a bit disappointing, but I've never been able to do that.
Last night, I got together with friends for hot cider and It (2017) which I missed when it was in theaters. I loved the film a lot and am eager for the sequel! Hell, I'm eager to rewatch it!
