Quite a few didn't bother with the bonus, but for those who did, well, not a single person got all three right. The most correctly guessed answer was Cardiac Arrest with around 10 people, and that's not including those that stated it in their banner answers only. And not surprisingly Dawn of the Dead got quite a few, which is understandable considering the German Day poster is just a more elaborate version of the Dawn poster. Also one [separate] response for Demons (you), and zero for Day.
I'm winning one of these prizes this year, dammit! At least I know I can't get the next question wrong ... as long as Chad doesn't pull shenanigans like disqualifying any responses with "infected" style zombies
Speaking of "infected" style zombie movies, I got a chance to catch Ravenous on Netflix (2017 French Canadian movie, not the 90's cannibal western movie). It did some interesting things. Instead of the "zombies" running around crazed non-stop, you'd see them just standing and staring, gathering in groups ... building giant piles of furniture and toys. No real explanations, not much of a story, but genre fans can probably find something to enjoy. I liked the setting of the Canadian forest (which has its positives and negatives for people trying to survive a zombie apocalypse).

I just found out that you can’t always go by an episode title. I was watching an episode of Mom that had Zombies in the title, and it had nothing to do with zombies.

That's it exactly. The higher priced is BR the other is DVD.
You *may* want to check the one you have anyway - depending on if you purchased any of the UK Stanley Kubrick sets or the UK release of just that film. If I'm reading information correctly, all the UK sets have the "International" release of The Shining which is a different cut, shorter by ~24 minutes.
The US BR SE is 144 minutes.
The UK BR is 119 minutes.
I discovered this after purchasing the UK "Stanley Kubrick: Visionary Filmmaker Collection" so now have two versions of the film (I purchased a US version of The Shining shortly after).

Watched Sunset Society (2018) which has Lemmy from Motorhead and Ron Jeremy as vampires feeding off the Sunset Strip in this low budget romp. Not the most exciting flick but watching Lemmy be head vampire was interesting. Steve-O makes an appearance. 2/5.

ETA: I watched the other Ravenous tonight, from 1999. I love that movie. 9/10. Highly, highly recommend if you haven't seen it! I wish there was more horror in that old west setting.

Based on the trailer and the first 28 minutes, Borgman might become my favorite new viewing of the month. Currently free to watch at Vudu.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 14th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/
Welp, today my friend arrives from out of town and tomorrow we drive 6 hours to a conference. My viewing will go from 4-5 a day to 1-2 at the most until next Tuesday. I'm taking a bunch of movies with me on my laptop but I probably won't have time to get many in.
I must say, this is the first time I have ever viewed this much horror in such a short period of time (I'm at #68 in 15 days). I wasn't sure if I'd get burnt out. But I'm loving it! It's great to get so many things crossed off my 'to watch' list so quickly and I'm enjoying the theme day approach.
Looking forward to the rest of the month.

I watched Son of Dracula with a friend last night. I have mixed feelings about it. I really liked the story being told, but I thought Lon Chaney Jr. was a terrible choice for the title role. I typically really like him, but I thought he was incredibly miscast here.

For today's theme, I watched Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon which is just an absolute hoot. I don't recall Scott Wilson's death mentioned in this thread, but I added him to my deceased checklist since he passed on 10/6.
I'm working from home this week while I recover from surgery, so I'm going to try to whittle down my To Watch list.

There's always at least one movie I watch that Netflix or Amazon or Hulu or whomever has as horror that really to me isn't. I've already watched two murder/mystery/suspense types in Imprint and Haunted...sure they've got horror elements, but they aren't horror to me.
but at least both were pretty good movies.

Thanks to all for the mid-challenge suggestions.
Cheers to the prize winners as well as Chad for the organization and GoldenWheels for the epic generousity.
The Nun very much rips off another movie with it's ending, that is probably the most second hand embarrassing thing I've seen all month. It's not just that they are similar but too close for coincidence. Otherwise I thought the buildup was eerie and effective. The Nun is worth a whirl. Well... maybe the other movie ripped off the 'true story' The Nun was based on, or they somehow have the same source material.

One of my favorite FTV so far is a Latvian film called Spider which is hard to describe. It's an artsy film about the fear of reaching sexual maturity. A creepy artist paints a young woman for a church portrait of the Virgin Mary and tries to take advantage of her. She has visions and nightmares of a giant spider lusting after her. As the nightmares get worse, she retreats to the countryside for relaxation and discovers that the artist has followed her, and he may be responsible for the visions. It's a very interesting, surreal, and dream-like movie.

Congrats to the winners! I had no chance on that banner so I just skipped it.
My kid wanted to watch The Shining to see what the fuss was about (we had recently seen Ready Player One), so I had to choose between the UK BD set (short cut) and the US DVD set (long). I thought about asking in this thread, but quick internet research indicated that Kubrick liked the shorter cut, and I'm always up for saving time.

I felt like using my Xbox One when I got home from picking up a prize I won in a radio contest, so I thought why not put in a DVD. Seeing as it is October, I decided on an episode of A Haunting . It was one of my favorite episodes so far about a man in black. The episode is called ‘Cursed’, in case anyone knows the one I am talking about. I am very happy that Amazon had the sale on the Season 1-6 box set a few years ago. It was a great buy.

Shudder is continuing to impress me and this time it's with their International Exclusive offerings. A couple of supernatural-themed films that were actually somewhat terrifying--the Argentinian Terrified and Satan's Slaves from Indonesia. Also the slasher Among the Living from France, which definitely delivers in the originality department for the killer.

THANK YOU!!
I think I've come to the conclusion that at the halfway point of the month I don't have a real chance at hitting 100. I will likely come reasonably close but I have so much going on day to day this year that staying on pace was tough early on and now having to play a bit of catch up seems daunting.

Since Terrifier is today's movie, I decided I'd best view the All Hallows' Eve movies since Art the Clown appears in the first one. I thought he'd be a Pennywise ripoff, but I gotta say, I not only have enjoyed both movies (though they're terribly acted and obviously low budget), but Art the Clown has some potential. He's unique.

Every so many movies I watch, this guy (Richard Riehle) shows up briefly, and usually only to be killed off:
I think he may be the modern day equivalent of George "Buck" Flower.

I'm at 110 films now and surprising myself (this year I'd like to break 200 for the first time) - but it gets to a point where I'll watch a random low budget film and leave it thinking it was much more awesome that it probably was. I think sometimes watching so many films back to back lowers the bar somewhat or makes you appreciate twists.
The Demon Inside (2007) looks and sounds as generic as they come but it's well staged and an effective horror comedy, the kind that is cartoonish in placed but maintains well paced tension. I felt like Demon Inside was especially good.
Inside (2012) is quite a good prison supernatural thriller mostly taking place in a cell with an intentionally predictable ending but a nice ride.
I love 'A Haunting' I remember randomly running into it on cable and it's surprisingly scary for a televised docudrama. That box set is an excellent value for the money. Perhaps I'll dig up mine for the challenge - the first two episodes were movie length (but I don't think on the box set).
