^While we’re on the Universal theme today, I felt like giving Dracula’s Daughter a look on the first Legacy set....Completely un-readable. But side B still works. Looks like a re-purchase Of one of the newer sets is in my future. Ended up going with Invisible Man (And it’s Commentary) instead.

And Chad, not surprised to see neglect towards Spanish Dracula. Have you heard the commentary for the Lugosi version by Steve Haberman? He bashes it with every chance he gets.

Good info on the Universal blu ray set. And Jacob_B that sounds like a fun night!

I ended up wracking up 5 today since so many of the universal movies are short. Watched The Invisible Man, The Creature from the Black Lagoon, Dr. Cyclops, and The Mummy's Hand on TCM Added Tower of London from my Vincent Price set, which fit the vibe of the night.

Believe it or not, I've never seen any of these films in their entirety. So it was a big win for my "to watch" list. I liked The Invisible Man the best. The effects were amazing and the script was much darker and more serious than the others.

I'd love to see F13 Part 3 on the big screen in actual 3-D someday. Already missed one opportunity.

Just for the record--while I do enjoy the film more, I think Lugosi gives the better Dracula performance of the two.

No, just the David J. Skal one, and he actually praises it quite a few times. I'll have to give that one a listen.

Have a few beers and it can be a fun terrible movie. The audio commentary I felt was much more interesting than the source material though.

I had a Terence Fisher triple-feature tonight: The Two Faces of Dr Jekyll (1960), Phantom of the Opera (1962) and Island of Terror (1966). Great evening, full of style, bright color, and at least one "how did they get away with that" per movie. Good times.

I watched Terror Toons today and I don't think I'll see a worse movie for the entire month.

Does anyone watch Stan Against Evil? Season three is on pre-order sale at Amazon for $2.99
Amazon Amazon

The first ten seconds of s1e1 are very promising, giving an episode or two a try on YouTube TV...

I want to do a marathon today, but wasn't sure what to start with. To get some ideas, I decided to browse the list thread. I forget who it was, but someone on Page 1 watched Alien vs Predator earlier in the challenge. I've always enjoyed that movie, so thought why not?

Scream Factory's Shocktober sale. 40% off their top 100 titles.
I probably already have most of the ones I want, but a good chance to pick some up if you need them.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 14th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/

I've been so bad at keeping up with discussion this year. It's just a really weird time. In addition to being the first challenge without my dog, things at work are all screwy.

Shortly before September ended, my manager announced she was basically leaving with no notice. I'm stuck as acting manager. Obviously we're short staffed now, and I'm getting a lot more stuff added to my plate now. There's a real chance that I could be getting a promotion, but apparently my supervisor has concerns that basically amount to thinking I might be too nice. Anyway, there's a lot on my mind, and I'm having a hard time getting into the next gear. I pretty much always take time off during October, but I don't even know if I can right now. Besides, I'd like to know where things stand before I do. For the first time in a long while, I'm worried about hitting 100.

I'm still having fun, though. It feels like I have a higher percentage than normal of repeat viewings so far. That just seems to be where I'm gravitating right now.

I forgot to weigh in on my books of the dead. They're both still in excellent condition, but the second one no longer screams.

Good luck with everything; if you want the promotion it sounds like an exciting chance to possibly grab it or at least an opportunity to try out a slightly different role. Having fun is what the challenge is about, also I've found it's a nice distraction from 'real life' like this. I checked your list and if you've found time for 'Attack of the Killer Donuts' (which I also have in queue) and 'Dude Bro Massacre III' those are some gutsy choices.

If you want a refreshingly fun horror-comedy, check out the new Blood Fest from Rooster Teeth. A romp that sends up any number of horror tropes, from slashers to killer clowns. Probably the best new horror movie I've seen in 2018.

19. Buzzard Hollow Beef (2017). Something is making people go insane in Buzzard Hollow which turns out not to be a good place to have Thanksgiving. A well done horror comedy that coincides with our Canadian Thanksgiving today but this one is no turkey! 3/5.

I was going to watch Cat People for today's theme, but couldn't locate my copy. Instead, as a second choice, I decided on the original classic, Night Of The Living Dead. George Romero was a genius, and he single handedly rewrote the entire zombie genre.

I know I'm going to be alone in this, but after all the hype surrounding Hereditary, I found it to be ridiculously overrated.

I'm sure if you go on Facebook pages like Dread Central or Bloody Disgusting, you won't be alone. Every year, an indy film comes out that gets very overhyped and you will find a crowd that does not like it.

I guess I'm just used to liking the ones that are usually hyped. This is a different experience for me.

Pretty sure the response here was more negative than positive. See the subset thread, and movie thread linked therein. I loved the first 75% and think the last act ruined it.

I watched Mother! for today's theme and I gotta say it absolutely blew me away. Quite possibly the best start-to-finish demo for an Atmos set-up. In fact it relies so heavily on Atmos I'm not sure I'd enjoy it as much on a 7.1 or 5.1 system. Don't get me wrong, the whole movie was excellent of course, just that the sound was like a major character. Can't wait to watch it again when the challenge is over.
