For the third challenge in a row, still working through my Dark Shadows complete original series Barnabas coffin set! I cracked the set open for the 2016 challenge, was up to episodes in the 500's for 2017, and this year I'm up to the 790's.
Everyone seems to get a creative jolt from time travel, and the 1890's has been a fun setting. Barnabas gets to be a vampire again, Angelique the witch is back, Reverend Trask gets to chew more scenery, Laura the fire Phoenix demon is back, Quentin Collins has dialog. Throw in a werewolf, a warlock, a zombie, an evil disembodied hand, gypsy curses, ghosts, a Manchurian Candidate story, a Gaslight story, a madwoman locked in a closet (riffing on Jane Eyre) ... lots of fun stuff (and I'm probably overlooking a bunch of stuff). And the positive of going to a different time is that regular cast members can really die at any moment since they're playing different characters.

In an unrelated topic, I went through Summer of 84 late last night and enjoyed the heck out of it. I recommend it for anyone who liked Stranger Things, It, Rear Window, or even The Goonies. Not on those levels, but still a good little horror flick worth watching.

^They ran trailers for several hours after the last movie aired on the 9th (Which was Shockwaves, btw) Fingers crossed if a miracle happens to occur. While we’re on the roku tip, I spotted a new channel there called “Binge Horror”. It just looks to be zero budget DTV stuff, but at least it’s not another channel with the usual Public Domains.
As for my current status for the challenge, Well right now I’m watching a dud: Catacombs (1988). Seek out the same-titled film that features Pink (The singer) instead.
But within just 2 days I’ve encountered 2 fully nude female attackers with Lifeforce And The Deathhead Virgin . Maybe, for the Jess Franco check, I’ll give Devil Hunter a spin tomorrow to give the nude guys a chance

As long as the movie is exploitative in it's ripping off the Jaws idea, so most likely yes. IMO I would count Sharknado (obviously) and the more knowingly rip-off Jawsploitation classics like Orca the Killer Whale and Piranha. But for me I wouldn't count something like Slither since that's a very unique story idea. But Bees or Grizzly would be a yes.

I was a kid when this series originally aired but never watched it - mostly due to being in school when it was on. So... after all the talk from several members I watched a few episodes when Amazon added it to Prime. I couldn't get into it and wondered what everyone else sees that I do not. I might give it another try this year as I don't have the huge backlog of years past.

Stuart Gordon's Dagon (2001) was a good watch. It seems to grow on me with repeat viewings.

I saw this mentioned on a blog, and I thought that some of you might get a kick out of it:

Any other really good movies in this modern era ike The Autopsy of Jane Doe you might be able to recommend?
Did this with The Open House It actually started off really well, though had the feel of a Lifetime/Hallmark made for TV movie (which isn't ALWAYS terrible), but the payoff was a huge letdown. Had a good build and story, but ugh...such a bad payoff.
Sometimes it's fun to randomly watch Netflix stuff and there are occasionally some gems but The Secret is not one of them. Nursery rhymes is a trope that could maybe fit the checklist, or a theme day, and in this film there's an insane amount of nursery rhyme repetition and the characters spend easily a third of the movie in extended high and go seek games. Cliche everywhere in this one - it's nets a lot of checklist items if nothing else but still not worth it; flickering lights, cell phone problems, etc etc.

It's only after they time travel to the 1790's that it seemed something interesting could happen any day. Now it seems that what would've been a gigantic week ending cliffhanger could happen any day of the week. Though with the way the show is going now, I can see how they burn out by 1971.

I just got a reminder of how my DVD buying was out of control in the 2000's. Even though I upgraded it to Blu Ray, I thought I still had a DVD of Cronos around to lend to someone (who didn't have a Blu Ray player). So I dig it out and it turns out instead of the Guillermo del Toro movie I have this:
which was a 1985 art-house photography movie. I must've bought the wrong movie 15 years ago and never even noticed because I never got around to watching the majority of stuff I purchased. How could I have not even noticed the cover was wrong?!? I even filed it away alphabetically under "Cronos" and made a note in a database that I owned the del Toro movie. Jesus ... I wonder what other mysteries I have in my giant unwatched DVD collection?

What would be the ruling on “Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom”? Too action-y?
I reserved it from my library months ago and my number finally came up. I do want to see it but I’d hate to “waste” a viewing in October on something that doesn’t count.

B-Movie TV is showing The Last Shark (1981), which fits today's theme, at 4pm. Or you can do like I'm doing and adjust your time zone on your Roku and watch it now.

Yesterday I managed four from the Studies in Terror list. Blue Sunshine, Mill of the Stone Women (1960), Anatomy (2000), and The Brides of Dracula (1960).
My favorite was Mill of the Stone Women. I picked up a German import blu ray on ebay and it's gorgeous. One of the best Euro gothic movies I've seen.
I'm trying to load up right now because later in the month I have to go to a conference and will likely only watch 1 movie for about 4-5 days. Ugh. Still hoping to get to 100 this month.

Woah, OCD crisis narrowly averted! Spent the last few days of September getting titles organized and a viewing schedule mapped out, attempting to watch at least two theme-compliant films per day, but then didn’t notice until last night that the theme schedule had shifted. Scrambled to watch Blue Sunshine and another before midnight, whew!
