I'm amazed that you can still buy MGM Midnight Movies on the original pressed DVD, although many of them have since been released on Blu-ray through Kino Studio Classics.

How can you know until the checklist is done? Unless you're not doing the checklist. Oh, yeah, that's possible. :-)
I've gotten my hands on all the subset films except for Blood Beach and Dr. Caligari, which I figure are going to have to be YouTube watches. But I imagine I'll have to add at least a few more once we have the checklist.
If anyone knows of a good source for Blood Beach, let me know.

Caveat emptor: that's for the Warner Archive DVD-Rs. The original pressed set is only available used for a lot more $$.

Would love to get a better than average DVD release.

All 34 subset threads are up.
This year I'm going in a slightly different direction and posting them before the theme/subset table. And that's only because I'm still working on it. It is coming soon though.

I'm hoping Shudder eventually makes its way to Australia, that's a subscription I'd definitely enjoy.
Struggling hard to find subset picks in Oz. Have/have on order 11 out of the 35 films... can't seem to find the rest on Blu for my region (can't even get my hands on the dvds). Will have to do more digging...doubt they would arrive here in time the challenge now.
Received my copy of The Toxic Avenger day before yesterday. Was pleasantly surprised that I was able to find that one!

Paste usually does a decent job with these sort of lists. I only scanned it, but it seemed decent, and can’t really fault their #1.

I watched some of these. They're good but MAN does he have spoilers. He gives away the entire endings of movies (like Deadly Friend). So I had to stop watching them. He also seems to dislike most of the films.

Getting excited for Halloween, so I started decorating today. Watching horror today too.

Agreed on both counts. I've enjoyed his videos over the years, but always got the impression he's not really a big fan of the genre. The man doesn't doesn't even care for Tales from the Crypt!? Also don't recall him being so spoilery in the past. I just outright avoid the ones I plan on catching for the challenge.

Cool idea for a little sub-challenge.

I was browsing the remainder of September's tv schedule for the premium cable (Movie) channels and got worried by seeing the same exact stuff that they've been showing for months/years now (Though I still have a soft spot for seeing Funhouse Massacre around) But once October hits, they've (Lo and behold!) got some new ones on the horizon:
Victor Crowley
American Nightmares
4/20 Massacre
Primal Rage
So its good to see that my DVR won't be entirely neglected this year.
Btw, I bought this for the challenge
'What's/Helen" doesn't have a horror keyword on imdb. But it's in a "Horror" collection and the trailer appears on the FESTIVAL OF FRIGHT compilation. So has anyone seen it to know if it truly qualifies?

I miss getting the Paste print magazine with the CD samplers. And very ballsy move of putting Halloween at #47. My only complaint is when they proclaim these lists are the "best of all-time". Just the simple headline addition of 'according to our writers' gives it more credibility, IMO.

Going to go through my movies today. Every challenge I usually save my favorites for last and then, for the most part, burn out and don't even watch most of them. Think I may start with a few new movies then sprinkle a favorite here and there. Maybe for every 2 or so new ones, a horror favorite of mine, to keep me interested.

Planning to dig into the Synapse Films 'new' Suspiria remaster first thing, if not Dressed to Kill. Maybe Ghostbusters if the kids are still about.

I'm also starting with Dressed to Kill. It will be my first time viewing of it. Can't wait!
