Who did the google drive last year? I'm only asking so I can help them get some of the subset picks for them to upload.

Would be nice to have my entire collection that I can just easily access instead of going through the mess that is my physical media.
Copyright law states that if you sell your physical copy then you must destroy any/all "backup" copies you've made. Ripping music/movies to a media server and then getting rid of the physical copy violates copyright.

Copywrite laws need to be updated.

But aren't we all kind of breaking the copyright law as it is watching movies off of Google Drive to watch the subset list? Isn't that a copyright law as otherwise all movies would be on Youtube or something?

Not all of use them. Most of these films usually have alternative legal means to find them cheaply. Personally, I’d prefer that being a requirement for selection.

That would be me. Thanks for the offer; I think I'm probably in decent shape on my own, but feel free to PM/email me if you've got a specific idea/resource in mind.

As for the conversation re: legality, I'm trying not to box myself into any corners here, but basically I think each person here is capable of deciding for themselves whether they feel morally/legally OK with using the links, and I just cross my fingers and pray to {insert deity of your choice} every year that anyone who's not OK with it just doesn't use them, rather than deliberately getting me in trouble when I'm just trying to be helpful. (So far, so good, I guess...)

Of course, they are always intended as a back-up resource, not the primary go-to. But I try to keep in mind that what's readily available in the US is not necessarily so for our non-US-based participants, and that what's streaming on Netflix/Amazon right now might not be by October, and that we all have different thresholds/limits for what qualifies as "cheap," especially when you're talking about 30-odd movies, many of which a given participant may never want to watch again after that one-time viewing.

This might be of interest to someone who might DVR it. I just saw a commercial for a remake of The Bad Seed that’s on Lifetime tonight at 8 PM EDT.

Thanks. That looks cool.

ETA: It was good. Very faithful to the original story but nicely updated.

Shudder is going to be showing Satan's Slaves (2017). It's going to be debuting new movies between now and Halloween and that's one of them.

Turner Classic Movies 2018 schedule:

https://bloody-disgusting.com/tv/352...-october-2018/

Looks to be a few new additions--The Hand, The Penalty, He Who Gets Slapped, Dead Sleep, Demon Seed, The Frankenstein Myth (TCM doc?), The Power, and Carry on Screaming. Maybe a few more. And the usual assortment of head-scratching titles.

I'll eventually get this up on the first post.

Ugh. I just knew Dementia 13 would show up on the 31st AGAIN. Can't stand that movie. And I guess this movie has replaced The Haunting (Although House of Wax is also way up there) for TCM's favorite annual Halloween-Day movie. Nifty idea for including an anthology marathon later in the day, at least

TCM looks like a mixed bag, blending in sci-fi and fantasy titles, and A Woman;s Face is a Joan Crawford crime film that has zero horror elements. And they sure went heavy on Bowery Boys titles!

The subset list looks great. Quite a few titles on there I'm not familiar with, so really looking forward to those!

Also, in case it hasn't been mentioned yet, AMC will be airing another "AMC Visionaries" documentary series, beginning 10/14 - this time focused on the horror genre.

Eli Roth's History of Horror

Featuring A-list storytellers like Stephen King, Quentin Tarantino, Jordan Peele, Jason Blum, Robert Englund, Linda Blair, Tippi Hedren, Rob Zombie, Haley Joel Osment, Jack Black, John Landis, Jamie Lee Curtis and more, Eli Roth’s History of Horror brings together the masters of horror - icons and stars who define the genre - to explore its biggest themes and reveal the inspirations and struggles behind its past and present. Each one-hour episode will take viewers on a chilling exploration of how horror has evolved through the eras and impacted society, as well as why loyal fans remain addicted to fear.

Youtube TV apparently doesn’t allow searches more than a week out, so hopefully this item gets mentioned later.

Petty gripe here - I've been trying to avoid all references to Hereditary in the media because didn't want it spoiled at all then today picked up the blu-ray case and worry it gives too much away. Possibly I'm wrong but I'm reminded of a recent new release that definitely gives away a payoff twist on the cover.

I've just been burned too many times, so I just do a complete media blackout of any title that looks remotely interesting. What is the other 'new release'? I'm curious if I have it on my list.

Not a 'new release' but new to blu-ray... details spoiled because what a horrible cover tactic.
Spoiler:
A 1975 made for tv anthology horror film starring Karen Black.
Spoiler:
Trilogy of Terror

Here's the spoiler laden coverart:

I pre-ordered that because I remember it very fondly. I thought the cover was cool. But you're right, it's spoilery.

Looks like they have a horror film almost every day. Usually they leave it to the weekends and the final week itself.
