I just cut the cord a few weeks ago and I have an Apple TV coming in the mail, pretty much the same deal as the Roku?

I'm not exactly sure how they are different but my understanding is that Apple has a more closed 'iTunes' driven ecosystem. With Roku it's a fairly open system for adding new channels (but there is also a lot of fluff/crap shoveware type channels to the occassional gem). I've moved a lot more into digital movie 'ownership' than I ever expected because digital codes/credits are often so cheap it's easier to gamble on stuff or sometikes smaller scale stuff will end up with digital only distribution. Arrow has a presence on Apple (and Apple only), they periodically runs dirt cheap sub-$5 sales on a lot of their catalog.

Edit: Nothing will replace physical media for much if the classic horror or niche personal favorites but there are some conveniences with digital.

I always watch Rob Zombie’s Halloween movies. They’re must sees for the month.

Yup I love B-Movie TV, but I'll likely have it locked on Shockwerks TV throughout October. Another a "Live" channel.

Apparently their monthly GoFundMe drive didn't meet expectations. And this isn't long after Bizarre TV bit the dust. Something was obviously wrong there when they started playing The Werewolf of Washington on continuous loop for weeks. Coincidentally B-Movie TV recently added a string of real commercials (as in not the usual vintage) when you first click on the app.

Hi guys and gals. Finally made it back for the annual challenge. I guess I do alright, but never seem to make it here for the trivia challenges...perhaps this year will be different and I'll have a chance to be more active.

Motherf.....

They’ve also taken off recent “After Dark” channels as well. Things are really sucking all of a sudden.

We cut the cord a few months ago also. Finally got a Roku, and paired it with Sling. As a bit of overkill, my wife just picked up Prime which I have not used much. I suddenly have a good bit of options available.

That does really suck. I'm planning on having a few backup channels on Roku this year.

Shudder has a one week free trial and is $5 a month. Pick it up for a month and then drop it. I've got a yearly subscription so I can scratch when the itch strikes.

Oddly...I love the Halloween movies.....and hate everything else he's done, ESPECIALLY Devil's Rejects (gross, nasty, nothing of a movie IMO). Though I haven't seen his one about witches, maybe this year.

I must admit that his remake of Halloween is the better of what I've seen of his work. It's been too long for me to remember exactly what I didn't like but I do recall several issues. lrend might remember better - I really vented to her about it.

American Horrors and Mutant Sorority Pictures.

Can't comment on the quality of either as I just discovered both yesterday from this article that recommends them. R.I.P. 7 and 8.

Also a good reminder I need to update the Roku section on the first page.

Freeform Expands “13 Nights of Halloween” to “31 Nights of Halloween”

Another personal reminder to update the channel schedules on the first post.

The Parent Trap remake scared the living hell out of me ...especially when it's followed by The 700 Club.

I just moved to IL from NC and decided to keep my Dish service "on hold" while I try out YouTube TV, Philo, etc. My biggest complaint is the sound. I'm now going back to Dish just so I can have 5.1 DD (and that Hopper 3 is pretty cool). I've never been a fan of up-converting 2.0 in the first place.

For anyone not following the pre-challenge thread...

The final phase of the 31 Film Subset building is currently underway.

And we're still shy 3 subset volunteers.

I am hearing alot of noise about the Indonesian film Satan's Slaves (2017). Does anyone know about this and how to watch or obtain a copy? Amazon.com has a pretty pricey blu ray.

Yesasia has a dvd and blu (HK version) available. Depending on your shipping option either should be better than Amazon's choices.

I don't remember exactly why you disliked it. I just know that you don't like his films so I don't even try to get you to watch them anymore.

I love his remake of Halloween and I also love House of 1000 Corpses and The Devil's Rejects. Lords of Salem is probably my least favorite of his films. 31 was okay but none are as good as his first few movies (IMO).

11/22 and 12/21. Gotta say I'm more than slightly disappointed it's not going to be during October where we could've had our first live theme marathon. Still, really excited for this. Shudder continues to amaze.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 14th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/

Thought this might be relevant since we have a Universal theme/subset and that sometimes results in a purchase. They're offering replacement discs for Revenge of the Creature and Creature Walks Among Us:

http://www.thedigitalbits.com/column...ts/090518-1100

Spoiler:
All right, we’ve got a quick update for you today…

As many of you know, Universal released its Universal Classic Monsters: Complete 30-Film Collection and Creature from the Black Lagoon: Complete Legacy Collection Blu-ray sets in stores last week.

We don’t yet have review product from the studio, but, as we reported last week, many readers began to complain about a problem with the new 3D presentation of Revenge of the Creature being subpar because of a suspected authoring issue. There were also reports that the 2D presentation of The Creature Walks Among was problematic.

We suggested that readers contact the studio via the customer service form on their website.

Well… starting yesterday morning, people began receiving the following reply:

“Dear Consumer,

We apologize that you are having difficulty with your copy of Creature From the Black Lagoon: Complete Legacy Collection.

Universal Home Entertainment is offering replacement discs for Revenge of the Creature and Creature Walks Among Us, which are included with your collection. To receive replacement discs, please email the following information:

Your shipping address
Daytime telephone number
A copy of your sales receipt OR a photo of the two discs and the packaging

Please sent the above requested information to the email address below:

[email protected]

We hope that you will continue to enjoy this and future Universal releases.

Sincerely, Consumer Relations UNIVERSAL PICTURES HOME ENTERTAINMENT”

And indeed, our sources have informed us off the record that efforts are being made to correct these errors and to author and replicate replacement discs.

An official statement has yet to be made by the studio, but we feel confident reporting that this is indeed happening. If and when they do issue a statement, we’ll share it here on The Bits. So our suggestion is for you to follow the instructions above to get your fixed copies.

And we would like to thank everyone at Universal for addressing this issue so promptly.

All right, two other pieces of news today…

First, Lionsgate has officially announced the 4K Ultra HD release of Law Abiding Citizen on 11/6. The films stars Jamie Foxx and Gerald Butler. The 4K package will include the film in 4K with both Dolby Atmos audio and Dolby Vision HDR, and you’ll also get a Blu-ray copy of the film with all the previous extras.

And you’ll recall that we reported yesterday that Lionsgate would be bringing The Rambo Trilogy to 4K Ultra HD, based upon an 11/14 street date listing by French retailers. Well, Best Buy has now listed the individual films for release on 4K Ultra HD here in the States on 11/13. There’s no sign of a trilogy set here in the States yet, nor does Rambo (2008) appear to be planned for release in 4K at this time (but we’d be surprised if it didn’t follow sooner than later).

We’ve updated our 4K Ultra HD Release List here at The Bits accordingly.

That’s all for now. Stay tuned…

And finally, if you got stiffed on a past Fangoria or Gorezone subscription like I did, 9/11 is the absolute last day to give your address info for a complimentary one-year subscription...
