The transfer of the 4K restoration looks amazing. Great Lieberman commentary with tons of supplemental material and CD soundtrack. Sturdy packaging with beautiful slip and some goodies inside. Just all-around great set for something that completely slipped under the radar.

You're prize packs make me wish I lived in the U.S.

I don't hate Rob Zombie, per se. I actually think he's talented with visuals. He just wasn't the right person to remake Halloween.

You need to get with lrend, who loves his work, especially his Halloween films. She practically insisted I watch his films in years past, loaning me her copies to ensure I did. Never again. There's not a single one I liked. That includes his Halloween remake, House of 1000 Corpses, and The Devil's Rejects. I disliked those so much I'll not consider another of his films for any reason. There are too many good films out there to waste any more time on his dreck. I don't like his music either.

Blue Sunshine, its an ok movie but I can't see wanting a version without Elvira, no matter how good the transfer is.

I will for sure need some suggestions for work. Could do this for lunch and some paper pushing time. Double screens for the win.

B-Movie TV is the only one I can think of offhand. Of course it's "live" and not strictly horror. Excluding YouTube, everything else I've used is packed full of commercials.

And Shudder had the code GROUPON60 for two months. Might be worth a shot since they usually stick around for awhile.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 14th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/

Excited for this year's challenge as usual! I'm in my last semester of my final year of uni (FINALLY, I've been studying on and off, and changing degrees since 2010, wow I just realised that was the first year I ever participated in this challenge) so I doubt I'm going to get more than 10-20 watched, but exciting all the same. Next year I hope to come back with a vengeance

B-Movie TV will go (mostly) all horror for October this year. He's been building up to it each year, and I think he finally has enough horror movies to do it this year.

If you tune in and see something non-horror, or something you don't want to watch, just change your time zone and watch something else.

I've noticed the last several years that loading the list pages has become a painful chore because of the plethora of graphics. I'm not saying don't use graphics, but consider resizing what you were originally going to use to half that size. The list pages would load faster and it'll use less bandwidth.

Agreed. Also Iironically) it's often hard to go through and read some people's lists because the text gets lost in the midst of all the images. Less/Smaller is definitely better.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 14th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/

I can't get page two of the list thread to load. It keeps bringing up page one. I'd much rather have my list on page two so I don't have to load all that stuff every time I update my list. I can avoid some of it by bookmarking my list post (which is what I always do), but when I hit the save button it'll go to the full page view anyway.

here's post 43 in the list thread - that works, but if I edit it, I get thrown back to page one.

I deleted my spot from page one in the list thread (#39), but I still can't get to page two. I can get to my individual spot on page two by the link above though. Does page two work for anyone else?

No problems getting to list page 2 (I use the '2' link). Tried going directly to post and editing, but when I saved it went to page two. Give it an hour or so and it may sort itself out by itself.

They are "Torture Porn." I have absolutely no use for that sub-genre. It's not horror. It's generally senseless violence, murder, and/or torture.

I gave up on House of 1000 Corpses when Zombie inverted the colors for one scene. It was such a "film school student playing with Final Cut filters" moment that it took me out of the movie and it's been hard for me to respect him as a director since.

But...isn't a LOT of horror just senseless violence and murder and torture like the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre? Or even Halloween? I'll let slide Nightmare on Elm Street and Friday the 13th because there was that revenge element to it, but both Halloween and Chainsaw were pretty senseless murders and violence.

It was his first film and a lot of the effects did come off as trying something different not seen in major releases. Some made sense while other cuts, you are right, take one out of the moment. But Reject's didn't have those moments in that film.

I don't like "Texas..." for that same reason. The original Halloween is more than senseless murder although it's somewhat borderline for me but still a vastly superior film to the remake from Rob Zombie. A lot of "modern" (in my book that's any film made after ~1975) "horror" is just senseless violence and/or murder and/or torture. I don't watch those types of films if I know up front that's what I'd be getting. It took those 2 Rob Zombie films and reading a few reviews of some of his other work to realize that's pretty much all he delivers.

If you look at my lists, the films I rank highest are typically gothic horror, psychological horror, and/or monster films that mostly pre-date 1965. There are few horror films made after ~1965 that I care for, own, or would watch a 2nd time. Many "high profile" films made after that year I find immensely boring, trite, or just downright bad.

I won't bother with any of the Nightmare on Elm Street films and, when I first watched it a couple of years ago, thought Friday the 13th was mostly pretty laughable, mainly with its amateurish acting/plotting/scripting and attempts to build suspense and surprise. I'll never watch it again. These type films are mostly children of the "12 teenagers go into a house - only 1 comes out" type films popular at drive-ins in the 70s. The ones that received well deserved spoofing with the "a pair go into another room to neck and are killed" or "I'll go check on (insert name of last teenager to be killed in the house)" and other tropes. I didn't like them then, I like them even less now. They're not too different than giallo films. Another sub-genre I don't care for and can live without.

The older I get, the tougher critic I become of new films. I'm extremely unforgiving of almost any genre of film made after ~1970 but will watch, and love, some of the "worst" "B" or lower films made prior to that year. I've also decided the film sub-genres I just don't like and no longer make time for any of their representatives.

Interesting take. I do agree on a lot of points, especially the acting of something like Friday the 13th. I do like slashers, but I find myself truly invested in the thriller side of movies. I know a lot of them don't really fall under "horror" a lot of time, but it is a real life scare and keeps one on the edge of the seat. I guess, for me, I have a soft spot for House of 1000 Corpses because of the characters. There are a lot of good actors in that film that bring to life some interesting characters. It easily takes a strange turn in the last, say, 30 minutes or so. But I also am hard to please with new horror and why I get frustrated with a film like It Follows and don't see the appeal to it.

Another thing that might be helpful would be to stick graphics inside spoiler tags. They'd probably still be loading in the background (I'm not sure how graphics work inside the spoiler tag), but it would save real estate and probably speed up page loading, though not as much as reducing the image file size.
