Looking at the various sub-themes last night, found one film that made at least two of the lists, so popped in the BD. I thought I vaguely recalled liking Return to House on Haunted Hill, but after a couple minutes my memories of hating this film returned. A sensible person would have ejected the disc and picked another. But no, I watched that dreck again. It wasn’t laziness, it was more a combination of wanting to get my money’s worth out of that purchase, and my stubborn insistence on sticking to the plan after I had already added it to my tentative list. I’m strongly considering adding that disc to the “to sell” box, but then I’d be missing a title in a “series” that includes one of my favorites, the original.
I feel your pain. I'm frequently in that same boat! I own dozens of movies I'd just as soon never see again but just can't bring myself to get rid of them all because they're part of a "series" going so far as to occasionally watch them anyway if I'm watching all of the movies in the series.

FWIW, I hit 100 last night with a 2nd viewing of The Living Dead at Manchester Morgue (1974) (aka Let Sleeping Corpses Lie among others). The first time I watched this one was the 2007 Blue Underground re-release of the Anchor Bay Let Sleeping Corpses Lie DVD. Last night I finally watched the Blue Underground DVD upgrade with the The Living Dead at Manchester Morgue title. I honestly can't compare the two releases as it's just been too long since I watched that first release. That said, the newer release looks excellent (and I think it's now OOP which is a shame). It's a very under appreciated Zombie movie, one of the better ones IMHO.

Good recommendation. I watched this last night and enjoyed it. I liked how the story morphed:
Spoiler:
from a set-up that seemed like A Quiet Place (with an isolated family trying to survive an invasion of mysterious alien monsters) into something more akin to Village of the Damned (with adults trying to survive children taken over by evil aliens).

As expected, I'll finish in the 60-70 range. Sucks that Halloween falls on a Wednesday, since I have no time for viewing in the middle of the week this year (except for scattered tv episodes). But I've still managed to clear out much of my streaming queues, get around to some rewatches, and make a further dent in my Barnabas Coffin Dark Shadows DVD collection (maybe I'll be finished by next Hallween!)

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 14th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/

I hoped to get 4 or 5 in today, but a house showing popped up for 6pm that is screwing up my whole day. Our farm has been on the market since April and it's been hellish. So disruptive. Hopefully I can get in at least 2 including the subset film.

I wish I could watch a film while I clean the way I can listen to an audiobook, but it just doesn't work because I move from room to room too much and I, like, need my eyes for cleaning.

Just finished it and was kind of blown away by it. I've been trying to minimize my streaming this year because I have so much physical media at the house it feels like I'm selling out. Netflix has some pretty good stuff this time of year. I may try and fit in the followup to 13 Cameras tonight after Brainscan if I have the stamina.

I really enjoyed Stephanie. It's an especially well paced story, agreeing with brainee about the amazingly morphing structure - the sort of cryptic film that keeps you guessing but ultimately doesn't hold back on the payoff. I loved the premise of it, and cannot think of any other film like it. I think the 'problem' with marathoning horror movies is that it can sometimes highlight how stale conventions are or repetitively cloned some movies are. Stephanie was a good antidote for that. The child lead actress did a good job.

I feel that way, too, but between travel to my college reunion at the beginning of the month and going to the hospital in the middle, streaming movies on my phone has been a lifeline.

Rules Question
Not that a care about one more in my total, but for clarity and maybe other’s use, what would the ruling be on seeing a live performance of a qualifying item more than once? In my case it was the MST3K tour and their live riff of the incredibly bad in a good way film The Brain. Obviously, the film and bulk of the riffing was basically the same, but there were obvious ad-libs and different performances in the two shows.

Glad Stephanie was mentioned because I kept passing it over due to that horrendous Netflix cover art. Enjoyed it.

Definitely felt more like a morality tale than a horror film. Surprised to hear it was produced by Blumhouse and they gave it a sequel??

Washing it down tonight with Spontaneous Combustion and maybe a revisiting of Repulsion.
Clarification. It was actually Friend Request, not Unfriended: the 2013 version with Anthony Michael Hall, and Prime had the description listed for the other Friend Request from 2016 that I have yet to see. Also neither are affiliated with Blumhouse, so faith restored in them.

Crap! This reminded me to finally see The Tingler as well. And I know my library carried it... carried it PAST tense. I just went online to reserve it, and multiple searches come up empty.

Hopefully one of the streaming providers has it.

Only Hoopla apparently, although you can find almost everything in YouTube. And Spine Tingler: The William Castle Story is on Kanopy.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 14th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/

Today for mind games I managed to get 3 in, though I wish I'd had more movie time today. I enjoyed them all. Brainscan was good. Definitely on point for the mind games theme too. I also watched an old Hammer that's been on my list for ever, Nightmare (1964). It's essentially a gaslighting story and works well for mind games. It was decent. The last one was Backtrack (2015), which I have never seen and picked to get a Sam Neill I hadn't already watched. It's a good movie, a psychological thriller (also Horror in imdb) but it's more of a ghost story than mind games. I recommend if if you've never seen it.

I’m not sure if I’ve ever bought it, but randomly found it on one of those free Roku mostly public domain channels just now.

Stephanie was a bit too scary for my wife, so The Tingler will close my night.
