Great deal. Watched The Man from Deep River last year. Enjoyed it a good bit. Also ordered LHOTL a few weeks ago, and it is indeed the 3 disk limited version. This is a really nice find.

My first watch is definitely going to be Dressed to Kill, then I'm shooting for either Cat People or Kuroneko. It kind of sucks everything starts Sunday night, as that will be a really busy weekend. Then there's Monday....

Not 100% sure yet. I might start my pre-watch this week as I always run out of time in October. I have the Halloween 4K and the Shout Factory [REC] arriving this week so I may start with one of those. My 13 yr old daughter has expressed interest in some horror (Halloween, Nightmare On Elm Street, Scream) so I might watch some of those next weekend.

I'm thinking of possibly starting a pre watch this week myself.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 14th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/

My goal for September leading up to the challenge was to clear as much space on the DVR as possible. I have been an utter failure in that regard. In other ways that I've been a failure, I have also failed to order any of the subset pictures.

It's strange because I'm really excited about the challenge, just like usual, but I've been real lax in prep and am in somewhat denial that we'll be in the midst of the challenge this time next week.

My goal this year is to finally watch all the stuff I've purchased for prior years but not watched. I don't know how successful I'll be as I've tried that several times and failed. It doesn't help that I keep purchasing new stuff... and that I want to rewatch the Universal Horror titles (my all-time favorite horror movies) since they're all now on remastered BR...

The one absolute for me is to make it through the eight films from The Essentials Universal blu box. As I'm opening the Legacy Dracula set to get Son of Dracula, I'll probably try and chip away at that one as well. I've probably just jinxed myself

One goal I have every September is to closely look at the 33 subset films and see all the possible checklist items they cover. Then I won’t ‘waste’ views watching something just for a checklist item that I’m going to eventually cover anyway. I’ve never actually done this, iirc, but it’s my main goal every September.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 14th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/

My marathon is expected to be a bit more Made-For-TV-movie-heavy than usual. That's mostly because more movies got added to ICM's "They Shoot Zombies" list which included a couple of them. Plus I finally picked up that Psycho-sequel pack that comes with the Bates Motel movie with Bud Cort (Haven't seen that since it premiered) and then there's 1989's Woman in Black which I've been meaning to watch for YEARS. Will I finally get to it this time?

BTW, Hallmark's "The Good Witch" movies have been big guilty pleasures to me as of late. But I'll likely wrap those up before the challenge starts.

And finally, here's the slightly delayed theme/subset table. The links are all active. Let me know if any mistakes were made (excluding the shitty taglines).

You can find it via the link on the first post, on the second post, and in the list thread. And this one's just a display model; I'll eventually put it in a spoiler tag, otherwise I'll feel obligated to update them all when needed.

Feedback welcome.

Chronological Horror Years Faceoff - Chapter 6

1943 (Diamond) Vs. 1968 (Gold) Vs. 1993 (Silver)

Spoiler:

Son of Dracula dates the original Count Dracula as being destroyed in the 19th-century, when the original novel was set.

The following year, the Dracula-related series continued with House of Frankenstein in 1944, and House of Dracula in 1945,
both of which starred John Carradine as the original Count Dracula.
The famous arrival of Dracula's coffin by train was reprised in Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein (1948).

While Brewster and Lazlo speculate that he might be a descendant of the original Dracula, congruent with the film's title,
Katherine tells Frank that "he is Dracula". However, he is described as his descendant in the 1943 press kit.

This is the first Universal Dracula film to take the Count out of Europe and bring him to America.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 14th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/

Looks great, Chad, nice work. I noticed a typo on Cujo's day where it's spelled as Cuju. And yes, it feels good to be back to October 17th again.

Thanks, I knew there'd be something.

And total coincidence. It's not in the least bit influenced by what you said earlier.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 14th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/

Hi all, it's our favorite time of year again. I'm beginning to cultivate my list/films, but I have a film that's a bit of an oddity and I'm not sure if it should be considered horror or not, and I don't want to use it as a wild card if possible. I can't seem to figure out what genre The Killing of a Sacred Deer falls under. Haven't seen the film. Doesn't show up as horror on IMDB, but multiple critics/reviewers treat it as a horror film, such as bloody good horror and other sites. Also, it seems that it might have been (or still is?) listed as a horror film on WikiPedia at one point or another. Anybody have any clue?

List looks great again Chad.

Not sure if its my phone or not but the Spoilered youtube links seem to be one day ahead (ie Criterion clip is on any theatrical showing, NOTD is on Criterion day, etc)

I've always considered it a horror film and it's on my TBW list of recent horror films. I'm not sure why imdb doesn't have that category, but the Amazon page shows it in the category of Horror. If you scroll down to Product Details and Amazon Best Seller Rank, Horror is it's first category. So I would say that's official.

Beyond the Door is in stock at Ronin Flix. It has a price tag that's $5 more but with free shipping. Death Ship is also in stock there for the same price, so that free shipping would make Ronin a better deal for that title. Just Before Dawn is still in stock at SAE but for $10 more.

It is interesting how some of the cult titles get labelled as 'out of print' by scum on eBay. I wonder if that's a successful business model, selling in print items marked up over value to clueless buyers. It would seem most people with a keen interest in Beyond the Door would also be savvy enough to know where to buy it legit.

I wouldn't have known about Diabolik if not for this group. I've learned all kinds of useful things here.

Fair point.

Check out https://roninflix.com/. Mostly they seem to distribute for Scorpion Releasing and Code Red; who are some of the more exiting sources for legacy b-movie horror. Last Fall Ronin had a discount sale at the end of October and I suspect they will do another one (they've had 'make your own bundle' style sales near quarterly).
