Re: Pre-Horror Challenge 14: Building of the Optional Lists (Themes, Subset, & Checkl

I decided to go back to the well and pick a few more for returning themes:

Exploding heads
Bigfoots, Yetis & Tiny Terrors

I was looking at Studies in Terror (from the book by author Jonathan Rigby) the other day, and noticed he listed Frankenhooker as one of his personal favorites.

Re: Pre-Horror Challenge 14: Building of the Optional Lists (Themes, Subset, & Checkl

The first clear-cut winners that made the cut...

NEW
  • They're Coming to Get You, Barbara! The 50th Anniversary of Night of the Living Dead
  • Atmospheric Horror Films
  • Universal Monster Movies
  • Rocktober Blood - 100 Greatest Horror Film Soundtracks

RETURNING
  • Frankenstein / Mad Doctors
  • Video Nasties

Posted in order of votes; atmospheric and Universal were tied at second. And just to reiterate--Universal Monsters was originally used in the first themes list, but is being treated as new since there was no link attached at the time.

Using last year as a comparison again, we are:
  • Five days ahead of the first round of theme announcements
  • Four extra themes ahead

Keep voting. As usual, there's gonna be some very close calls.

Re: Pre-Horror Challenge 14: Building of the Optional Lists (Themes, Subset, & Checkl

Adding more votes to my initial short list.

New:
Deathball: Sports + Horror
Random Maniacal Mashup of Insane Indecisiveness 2 - TV Terrors / Late-Night Horror Hosts / Aerobics Craze / Casinos
Take the Stairs! Elevator Horrors

Returning:
Cheesy 80's
Deserted Island
Foodservice Industry
Infection / Epidemic / Viral

Also, will we be sticking with Caribbean, Mexican & Central/South American again this year or switching up the countries?

I vote for European horror. It gives me a chance to watch my Hammer films. Plus one of my favorite found footage films is European, Trollhunter.

Oh man, I'm going with Prism as well. Those covers have really got me stoked!

I'll also vote for The European Passport to Terror.

Some of the suggestions are too good to pass up for returning themes. I'm going to second Cheesy 80's for some good fun!
