I can do a subset.
Thanks for all this. |
Re: Pre-Horror Challenge 14: Building of the Optional Lists (Themes, Subset, & Checkl
Happy to do it.

Woooo! Although that particular list is a bit lacking. All the lists are though, maybe forum members can pitch in with anecdotes they have read about films/heard in commentaries?

Needed: link for Horror Movies in Horror Movies.
I mentioned NOTLD being shown in other [horror] films due to its public domain status a few years back. Then last year an even better theme suggestion was brought up to include any horror film. Unfortunately finding a link for this one is not easy, and it's also not an easy list to generate ourselves. The only current method I've come up with is clicking "connections" and "featured in" on IMDB. Ex: NOTLD. Not exactly convenient to have to do for every single film. |

Re: Pre-Horror Challenge 14: Building of the Optional Lists (Themes, Subset, & Checkl
Okay, we gotta do this one...
This theme covers any film that NOTLD is referenced in, featured in, or spoofed in. In other words, a film where NOTLD footage is playing on a TV, in a theater, on the radio, a character mentions a quote, on a poster, on a movie theater marquee, has a scene that's an homage, the title is a play on words, characters talk about the film, etc. It's not exclusive to just zombie films so it's not just a repeat of that theme. It would be reserved for 10/1, which is 50 years to the day the film was released. They're Coming to Get You, Barbara! The 50th Anniversary of Night of the Living Dead: Spoiler:

^^^ YES!!!!!
I just got the Criterion Edition recently so I'm looking forward to breaking that in as well as watching several of the movies on these lists. |

Re: Pre-Horror Challenge 14: Building of the Optional Lists (Themes, Subset, & Checkl
Keep the suggestions coming.
In an effort to speed things along I'll be announcing the theme voting date soon. And we're still needing 17 subset volunteers. Spots are filling semi-fast; secure yours today. |
Re: Pre-Horror Challenge 14: Building of the Optional Lists (Themes, Subset, & Checkl
I’ll volunteer for a subset
And ironically, regarding post #55, I happen to be watching the 30th Anniversary version of NOTLD for the first time right now (On B-movie TV) Just as hilariously bad as I always imagined. |
Re: Pre-Horror Challenge 14: Building of the Optional Lists (Themes, Subset, & Checkl
I really need to watch some the NOTLD alternate cuts and remakes just to see how bad they really are. That's excluding Savini's amazing effort, of course.
And while on the subject of streaming services ...another one bites the dust. R.I.P. Exploitation.TV as of July 31. I had my suspicions back during the exploitation/drive-in challenge. Oh well, as long as Vinegar Syndrome keeps pumping out the amazing Blu-rays I'm good. |
Re: Pre-Horror Challenge 14: Building of the Optional Lists (Themes, Subset, & Checkl
This hasn't been brought up yet so I'm assuming everyone's cool with it. I implemented the 75th anniversary (diamond) suggestion to the chronological theme like we've had on the checklist for years.
Chronological Horror Years Faceoff - 1943 (Diamond) Vs. 1968 (Gold) Vs. 1993 (Silver) That also brings up another question. Should we continue doing a subset for all of them, which we started doing last year? |

Count me in for a subset!
|
Re: Pre-Horror Challenge 14: Building of the Optional Lists (Themes, Subset, & Checkl
We're just over halfway there with subset volunteers -- 16 reservations and 15 still needed.
And yet another reminder to get in your theme suggestions soon!
|

The late Margot Kidder has 8 horror films in her credits:

Re: Pre-Horror Challenge 14: Building of the Optional Lists (Themes, Subset, & Checkl
Since we have a healthy selection of theme suggestions, and a thread that's been a little too quiet...
Theme voting starts Tuesday night (8/7). That's three days ahead of last year's schedule for those keeping up. In the meantime, browse over post 5 and look over this year's offerings. Remember, there are no limits to how many you can vote for. Now's the time to share any unshared suggestions, or previous suggestions I possibly failed to carry over.
|

well about 5 minutes of it. The rest of it was shit, though. |
Re: Pre-Horror Challenge 14: Building of the Optional Lists (Themes, Subset, & Checkl
I'd vote against doing a subset for all three anniversary films, that's a lot; unless there's some way to give bonus credit for people who miss a subset film.

Re: Pre-Horror Challenge 14: Building of the Optional Lists (Themes, Subset, & Checkl
For an oddball addition, I would suggest Wilhelm Scream. There's a keyword search on IMDB. I didn't have a clue what it was, and had to look it up.
I would also like to suggest Australian Horror. Chronological Horror Years was difficult for me last year, but there should be a challenge in trying to hit it. This one really forced me to go find something I wouldn't have normally watched. |
