Assume that all of these are available to all customers unless specifically listed as member only like the Welcome Package. Also remember that any preliminary codes are just that and BN could pull it, change the details or exclusions anything prior to release so always a bit of YMMV until the final release date

Mini FAQ
Coupons should not work for PREORDERS , Nook, Legos, Rosetta Stone, Digital, Gift Cards, Memberships, etc. There are glitches where sometimes an excluded item will be allowed but assume that is the exception to the rule
Free Shipping is $25 (before tax/shipping) or with membership.
Max 3 GC on a single online order.
Online only a single code can be applied to an order
Return period is 14 days after delivery (possibly 30 days for members though I've never tried)
Online ordered items can returned to a local store unless it's classified as a web-only item then it's at the store's discretion to accept
The long standing Free 60 day Trial Offer was discontinued in late May 2016

STORE ONLY 15% OFF Coupons -- Unknown if multi-use or if will work on 40% Off Items
15% OFF Single Item Exp 12/31/2017 (I)
15% OFF Single Item Exp 12/31/2017 (II)
15% OFF Single Item Exp ?? (III)

15% Single Item exp 11/6 2:59am ET -- if these are all used I can post some more.
New codes added below at least to make the bots and lurkers work a little harder. Used codes removed 3:30pm. New Codes added

I realize the challenge is over, but I just watched this one. Although I knew the direction it was going, I thought it was excellent. I always prefer a haunting film over a gorefest any day of the week. Plus, this is about the best I've seen the Halloween holiday captured on film...or at least one of the best.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 13th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/

Unfortunately, while it was a blast to read through the forum, I had my lowest viewing total - only 15 films. Which is a shame since this was my 10th year of completing this challenge. Can't say it was a bad month otherwise, however!

Halloween ended up being a bust as I had to work late, unexpectedly. Normally I would take the day off, but couldn't swing it this year. Lead me to not watch anything on Halloween for the first time in as long as I can remember.

That being said, October is my favorite month of the year, and that is in no small part due to this challenge and you fine folks! Thank you so much to our sponsors, and especially to Chad for making this an incredible challenge! And thanks to everyone for continuing to participate - excited to continue the conversation in our post-challenge threads, and again next year!

Now, to finish my list!

Ha. That's pretty much what I'm trying to do. Watched two horror comedies for the Nov challenge so far. After all, Dale in Tucker and Dale vs Evil does have a moustache. :-)

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 13th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/

Ok so I did poorly this year. A whooping 25 films.

I thought I would've hit double or more than that. Just too many outside distractions. Like work, social life, the mlb playoffs, and halloween events.

Started off good in meeting Jennifer Tilly on the release day of cult of chucky earlier in the month.
Also this was the first time I went to the theaters 4 times in one month.
Another first, I stayed away from my favorites and everything was a first time viewing.

My top 5 in no order..

The Babysitter
Jeepers Creepers 3
Victor Crowley
Creep 2
Annabelle Creation

Ok folks, until next October.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 13th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/

My list is complete. I only made it to 96 movies this year, so close!

Participation
Themes 33/33
Checklist complete
5 or more Challenges
10 or more Challenges

33 FTVs= .32

The good:

Split: Who knew M. Night Shyamalan would start making good movies again? Spiit was excellent, featuring an amazing set of performances by James McAvoy as the killer's various personalities.
Ouija: Origin of Evil: I wasn't expecting much, but this movie delivered the chills and it didn't cop out with a happy ending. I haven't seen the first film, so I assume the final scene in the hospital has some connection, but it doesn't matter. The movie totally clicked for me on every level.
Here Alone. There's a lot of crap in independent horror, but once in a while you get a gem like this. It's similar in theme to a film I watched for the challenge in 2014, Dead Within, but while that was a character study of a mind disintegrating from solitude, this was an intimate 3-person play of unspoken motives and schemes. I enjoyed the hell out of it.
The Conjuring 2. Sequels rarely are as successful as the original, but this worked really well. There's nothing new here, but that's not important. The direction and acting make the film scary as hell.

The bad:

Anarchy Parlor. I hate torture porn. The plot here is ripped off from Hostel: unwary Americans fall afoul of murderers in Central Europe, this time in Lithuania, and instead of being hunted for trophies, this time tattooed skin is used for portraits commissioned by government officials.
Hell House LLC. A found footage flick about demonic forces killing the cast and visitors of a Halloween haunted house attraction. Just a tedious slog toward not much of a reward.
Contracted. The "single female catches an illness that turns her into a monster" seems to be an emerging sub-genre. The lead character is whiny and unpleasant from the jump, so it's difficult to feel much sympathy for her as she slowly becomes a zombie. The last scene should have been the whole movie.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 13th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/

Challenges participated in: 8th
Total views: 46.25
First-time views (including TV episodes): 34
Formats viewed: BD, Prime, HBO Now, Netflix stream, Xbox, DVD
Decades watched: 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, 2000s, 2010s
Personal goal: Set a new high - achieved, by a margin of 10
Favorite first-time views: Get Out, The Purge: Election Night, Hostel, Wes Craven's New Nightmare

I realize my total is kind of shitty considering I work from home, but no one else in the house likes horror, and there was playoff baseball as well.

I have the 1999 version of that problem. I still get Netflix discs on a two-a-month plan, but because one was delayed, I ended up having four sitting here after the challenge ran out. I went ahead and watched three (Underworld Blood Wars, The Blackcoat's Daughter, The Strangers) and returned one for next year.

I'd consider doing the checklist without duplicates, even the whole thing, not just the minimum requirements, if it wasn't for the names involved. That's what drags me down every time.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 13th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/

Received my prize pack yesterday. Thanks to GoldenWheels and HamiltonBook for their generosity (and very quick shipping), and thanks to Chad to his continued dedication which keeps this Challenge alive.

My usual goals for this Challenge are just to watch movies and have fun, hopefully averaging at least one horror movie per night. This year I had the additional goal of reaching bronze (500/1000) in the iCheckMovies They Shoot Zombies, Don't They? list. I started the month at 479/1000, and finished it at 509/1000, so mission accomplished. I'm participating in the Comedy Challenge here, where I hope to watch at least five horror comedies from the TSZDT list, and a Noirvember Challenge elsewhere, where I've watched one giallo (I consider gialli a noir subgenre rather than a horror subgenre, but just about everyone else, including imbd, seems to consider them horror movies) from the list and expect to get in a few more, so I'll be doing a fair amount of horror watching this month.

Challenge #11. And it never gets old.

Usually see no more than 1 film in a theater, this year I caught 5. Thanks, MoviePass!

Ordered a bunch of horror titles from DeepDiscount awhile ago, and two of them just arrived, The Lift and The Shaft. Maybe God is telling me to stay out of elevators.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 13th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/

Thanks Chad for another great challenge and thanks alyxstarr for well, you know!

Top FTVs
Warm Bodies, an uplifting zombie film, Hoult, Palmer, and Corddry were great
Bubba Ho-Tep, another one that turned out to be something more than it seemed, a poignant film with a mummy thrown in
Seed of Chucky, so demented, kudos to meta Jennifer Tilly

Meh FTVs
Cronos, hit and miss for me, an interesting take on vampires though
Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed, ugh the rape scene, I enjoyed Cushing's Frankenstein until this film
Twins of Evil, the other Hammer film that was a bit of a letdown, maybe subsequent viewings will change my mind

Bottom FTVs
The Town That Dreaded Sundown, ominous hooded killer shown on the cover, a cool title... aaand the tone was all wrong
Scarecrows, most of the film featured dialogue via headsets -- it was lazy, dumb, and boring
Puppet Master:  Axis of Evil/Puppet Master:  Axis Rising, to be a young actor delivering the line, "What is it Leech Woman?"

Honorable mentions
The Skull, things went really, really bad for Lee and Cushing
Killer Party, '80s time capsule, the twist is hinted at early but this little film has some moxy by the end
Hobgoblins, '80s time capsule part II, so brazingly bad it's good, I need to watch the MST3K version now

Favorite rewatches
The Thing (1982), my MYOC prize looked great, the end theme with the credits is so eerie and haunting
Duel, man vs. semi truck, such great visuals, hard to believe it was a movie of the week
Phantasm, watching the sequels gave me an even greater appreciation for the original film

Speaking of Phantasm...

I have a dagger similar to the one in Phantasm. I got it from a Renaissance fair in Pennsylvania in the late '80s. Something that could never happen today, I took it to high school and used it as a prop reciting Shakespeare in front of class. I got some startled looks from the front row when I brandished it to emphasize a line too.

Is American Horror Story considered a mini-series or do I have to count episodes as a .5 ?

It’s a regular tv series (just one that had a different story and characters each season). Each episode fits into an hour timeslot (with commercials) so they should count as 0.5.

How did I go this long before seeing The Witches of Eastwick? Very fine film! My current plan, fwiw, is to stick with horror through all the monthly Challenges this year and next.

I know the challenge is over, but tonight I watched "The Autopsy of Jane Doe". I saw a few people recommend it. I loved it! I've never seen a film structured around a procedurely correct autopsy. It was really interesting. Gross, but cool. The whole thing with her being so absolutely still -- uber creepy! I recommend it if body horror doesn't gross you out too much.

Same! I just watched that this year, too, and it was a lot of fun.

My list is final. I'm just excited I made it to 100!
