Best Marilyn Monroe collection?
 

I have the Forever Marilyn collection on blu-ray and am really digging it. I know it doesn't have all her movies, so was wondering what is the best collection(s) out there to watch some of her best (or hidden gem) movies?

That set inexplicably does not have Niagara. Make sure you pick up a copy of that separately. Bus Stop is also missing from the set. Both are available on Blu-Ray.

Niagara and Bus Stop are both essential.

If you feel like dipping into DVDs, Monkey Business would be high on the list, but her role is a very small supporting one. Same goes for Clash By Night. Her part in Don't Bother to Knock is more significant and the film isn't too bad.

I also enjoy the light comedies Let's Make It Legal and We're Not Married- but again her part is small in both of what are ensemble pieces.

She also has a very famous cameo in All About Eve which is an all time classic Joe Mankiewicz film.
Out of anything, that is essential viewing IMO.

She also has a small role in The Asphalt Jungle, which is a great film noir. Criterion released it last year on Blu-Ray.

I agree with everything above, especially Don't Bother to Knock, because her role is pretty much unlike any other for her, and The Asphalt Jungle, because it's an early example of how she was going to steal every scene she would be in.

ooo a whole month of MM, nice! What's the best copies of some of the films that are must own anyways since it looks like Amazon has a few choices for them.

I got this collection when it was $39 in the Gold Box. It or similar collections appear there from time to time. It doesn't have Don't Bother to Knock, but at least I have that on DVD.

I know this is a longshot that the OP will see this thread AND be a Prime member but the nine-pack I mentioned above is listed as a Prime deal for today at 5:29 Pacific time.
