Assume that all of these are available to all customers unless specifically listed as member only like the Welcome Package. Also remember that any preliminary codes are just that and BN could pull it, change the details or exclusions anything prior to release so always a bit of YMMV until the final release date

Mini FAQ
Coupons should not work for PREORDERS , Nook, Legos, Rosetta Stone, Digital, Gift Cards, Memberships, etc. There are glitches where sometimes an excluded item will be allowed but assume that is the exception to the rule

I doubt that I will ever get close to finishing, but I hope to be working on the Enterprise's time period before I start on the TV on DVD challenge in January. Unfortunately, I am still working on the millions of years ago stuff, so I might not even get to that period by next year's Sci-Fi challenge, when I put everything on hold until the end of October, but you need something to do when you are not watching movies.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 12th Annual October Horror Movie Challenge (Oct 1-31) Pt

Sorry I wasn't able to participate more during the final week. I had to juggle moving to a new apartment with movie watching and working on my video. Unfortunately I don't have internet set up at my new place, and I'm way behind on the video. I will finish it, but probably not in time for the November 7th deadline. I am still willing to make a second video strictly focusing on the subset films, but I can't say when I'll get caught up with everything.

Anyway, another great Challenge, thanks to Chad and the sponsors once again!

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 12th Annual October Horror Movie Challenge (Oct 1-31) Pt

My list has been completed. I wish I could spend more time filling it out, but vacation is calling. This year I was able to complete Theme Nights, Subset Films and the Checklist. Below are my stats which I've included on my actual list:

Total Films Watched: 100
First Time Views 77/100
DVD 17/100
BLU 27/100
Streaming 55/100
Theater 1/100
Decades Watched 1920s (1), 1930s (3), 1940s (1), 1950s (5), 1960s (6), 1970s (15), 1980s (20), 1990s (4), 2000s (13), 2010s (32)

I could have done much more physical media, but I was 'in transition' for a good bit of the challenge, and couldn't watch all my physical media on my huge television at home. I will add that I really am a physical media kind of person and detest streaming, which seems to be the wave of the future.

My Final Stats:

Total movies watched = 83
Total TV episodes = 27 (equals 8 entries total)
Complete watched total = 91
First time views (movies only) = 47 (57%)
Formats used (movies only)= 48 BD/ 6 3DBD (65%), 13 streaming (16%), 10 Cable/DVR (12%) & 6 DVD (7%),
Decades watched (movies only) = 1910s (0), 1920s (0), 1930s (7 - 8%), 1940s (0 - 0%), 1950s (1 - 1%), 1960s (3 - 4%), 1970s (15 - 18%), 1980s (22 - 27%), 1990s (4 - 5%), 2000s (6 - 7%), 2010s (25 - 30%)
Most popular year watched (movies only) - 2015 with 10 movies from that year
Challenges completed - Watched over 50 movies, Subset movie list (and whatever goes with that)
Soundtracks listened to: 23
Graphic Novels read: 5
Magazines read: 2
Books read: 1

Sucks that I was only 9 away from hitting the 100. I noticed I did the same thing last year hitting 89. I need to pay more attention and push harder when I am that close.

to Synapse joining in and all the other sponsors this year. One of these days I hope to hit one of the massive prize packs from Hamilton.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 12th Annual October Horror Movie Challenge (Oct 1-31) Pt

My Stats:

This was my 8th challenge.

Total Movies Watched: 64
Total TV Episodes: 12 (8 1-hour episodes + 4 30-minute episodes =5 entries)
Total Entries: 69
FTVs= 31 (not counting new TV shows)

Media
Blu-Ray: 15 | DVD: 8 | TV: 20 | Streaming/VOD: 26 | Commentaries Listened To: 1

Years:
1920: 0 | 1930s: 4 | 1940s: 1 | 1950s: 9 | 1960s: 7 1970s: 7 | 1980s: 14 | 1990s: 1 | 2000s: 1 | 2010s: 23

Completed: Theme nights, >50 movies watched

Top 5 FTVs:
1. The Witch. Brilliant film about family breakdown in an atmosphere of religious repression, plus a witch.
2. Train to Busan: nonstop zombie horror with an emotional core
3. Clown: Sometimes movies will pull punches, but Clown didn't.
4. Don't Be Afraid of the Dark: Not as shocking as the 1970s TV-movie, but a really good update
5. Krampus: Scary and funny in equal measures

Bottom 5 FTVs
1. Cat Girl: Tedious in the extreme and done much better by Val Lewton
2. Holidays: The only interesting story was Father's Day, the rest were terrible.
3. Kraken: Tentacles of the Deep. Bad CGI, worse acting
4. Blood from Dracula's Castle. Proof that anyone with a camera could get a movie made in the 60s.
5. Night Train to Terror. What the hell did I just watch?

My list is complete.

Total: 57
New: 34

Binge-watched Walking Dead in there a good bit.

I've taken part in 9 horror challenges (including this one) but did not finish my list in 2015. So 9 started, 8 completed. Links below.

That makes two of us! I was having computer problems within the last 2 weeks. Better late than never to get back with this. As with my tradition before the awards, obligatory stats/observances:

Family goodness-This was the first Halloween challenge where I watched numerous family/kiddie-friendly films. For the most part, I (Surprisingly) liked what I saw. (Halloweentown High was the only weak link)

Birth of a new horror icon-Although my viewing of Rob Zombie's 31 pre-dated the challenge, I ran into Richard Brake in another film (Perkins' 14) and it's now official, this guy's a horror superstar.

TV-movie fatigue-I piled up my DVR with a lot of horror films recorded from El Rey Network. Little did I know that so many of them turned out to be straight-to-tv films. I gave up after the 4th one (Had about 3 more to go)

Death to the Wilhelm-I heard it 3 times in 3 different movies in one day.

Asylum:Not so bad!-Asylum Entertainment is usually bottom-barrel material for these challenges, but I had fun with both films I saw (Little Dead Riding Hood,Hold Your Breath) even the latest "Z Nation" season has been the strongest of the series so far.

Clown Happy-It wasn't really intentional, but I saw quite a bit of Clown films this year (Clown,All Hallow's Eve, Clownhouse, Killer Klowns from Outer Space)

Halloween Happy-This challenge also had to have been the most Halloween-themed I've seen yet. Along with all those family movies, there was also Bud The Chud, HalloweeNight, Slugs, Funhouse Massacre, The Roost. It cracks me up how crowded the streets are with kids when they trick or treat. Especially with the kiddie films.

Best/favorite audio commentary-The Witch

Great cast-Eye of The Devil

Best scores-Hand of Death, The Editor, Another Kind

Most annoying score-The Mad Butcher

Dumbest twist ending-Shadow

Favorite makeup/FX-Howl, Stung

Creepiest creatures-Those kids in Citdadel

Stephen Sommers finally made a movie I liked-Odd Thomas

Would've liked them more if they were R-rated: Forget Me Not, The Final Girls

Deserves a re-release: Screams of a Winter Night

Didn't need to be foundfootage-The Sacrament

Wouldn't mind a big budget remake-Colin

Awards time!

Best Movie(s) (First time viewing)
Baskin-The only film that took me...Elsewhere.
Spookies-Certainly not a perfect film, but I can't think of many horror films that contain terrific monster-imagery within every 30 seconds.
We Are Still Here-I was amazed at how fast this one flew by.
The Funhouse Massacre-A great deal of fun.
The Canal- It may be cliche'd with the twists, but everything was done refreshingly well.
The Editor-Can't wait to check out the commentary.
Honorable Mentions
Clown-Came close to fully liking. I was expecting a stronger ending.
Night Junkies-It was like The Addiction meets the first half of True Romance
Rocktober Blood- Worth the long wait
Clownhouse-Could have done without all those shots of the semi-nude boys, but hey, controversial director.
Extraordinary Tales-Tell Tale Heart was pure gold.

Worst Movie(s)
Voodoo Academy-Nothing against gay horror, but this was excrutiating.
House of Fallen-Boooooooooooring
Haunted-As a bad movie, it was actually kinda fun. As a horror movie, it sucked.
The Eves-According to my diary at letterboxd, I gave this the lowest rating of this entire challenge. I don't even remember the film. Maybe that's a good thing!
So bad they were almost good
Contamination 7-From some of the guys who made TROLL 2!
Curse of the swamp creature-Larry Buchanan, you amaze me.

Imagine My Surprise! (aka "holy shit, I actually enjoyed that!")
The Undead-It's regarded as one of Corman's oddest, but I loved it's originality.
The Rage: Carrie 2-Not nearly as bad as I would have thought. I loved the final scene.

Biggest Disappointment(s)
Creep-Good acting, but very predictable.
Jamie Marks Is Dead-I thought this would be very moving and compelling after the first several scenes. Then it just got stuck dead in it's tracks.

Best "Better on a 2nd viewing" movie
The Old Dark House-My own subset pick Although I liked it the first time I saw it in the 2nd October Challenge, the love has soared for it now.

"WTF did I just watch?"
Dark Moon Rising
Another Kind
Slashers Gone Wild!
Things

*FAVORITE HORROR BABES*

(Surprisingly, not that many this year)
Lucy Bowen (Night Junkies)
Sara Snook (Jessebelle)
Amiee Cox (Dark Harvest)
Amy Argyle (Little Dead Riding Hood)

The Boobage Award!
Skinned Alive

And the man-crush:
Evan Peters in AHS (Again!)

My compilation vid,

Only 98 of 173 made the cut. Quickly slapped together. Hopefully I'll be more efficient next year.

Thanks again, Chad, for doing your thing and thanks to all who participated. Hopefully I'll have my list finalized by the weekend.

Big ol' thanks to Chad as usual.

And thanks to all who contributed to and curated the Subset. This was my first time doing it, and I had such a great time and saw a lot of new movies.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 12th Annual October Horror Movie Challenge (Oct 1-31) Pt

My list is complete.

Results:

Total films viewed = 102 Goal was 100
First time viewings = 69 (67.6%)
My Seventh Challenge
Completed: Basic Checklist
By media: DVD (47), Blu-ray (53), Commercial VHS (2)
By decade: 1930's (6), 1940s (8), 1950s (8), 1960s (12), 1970s (24), 1980s (25), 1990s (5), 2000s (11), 2010s (2)
One commentary not included in By decade.

Some first time viewing highs and lows:

Fragile, a very creepy ghost story directed and co-written by [Rec] creator Jaume Balagueró, was my favorite.

Closely followed by:
The Conjuring - another great ghost story with an action packed finish
Cello - a strange and chilling film from South Korea is a bit hard to follow at first but it all comes together
Just Before Dawn - best slasher in the woods movie that I've seen in a while
The Witch Who Came from the Sea - a bit arty, often disturbing, very compelling

Most pleasant surprise:
Session 9 - a blind buy, an intense, well made film taking place in an abandoned mental institution, the time just flew by

Special mention goes to the Arrow set The American Horror Project Vol. 1. The Witch Who Came from the Sea was part of this and the best film of the three. Of the other two one was very good and one was very strange but still good. None were what might be considered as traditional horror stories and the set may not be for everyone but I'm very glad I picked it up. I'm looking forward to digging into the special features in the next week or so.

Not too many lows this year.
My least favorite movie was Doom Asylum a stupid slasher movie full of very unfunny humor, a chore to sit through

Runner downs:
Satan's Playground - lots and lots of loud ear piercing screaming and chases that went on far too long
Driller Killer - poorly structured and way too much time spent with a band rehearsing

Thanks to Chad for making this the most awesome horror challenge around. Cheers to all the participants.

Pretty sure I hit 100 will complete my list very soon gotta get my watched file off another computer. Not as many watched this year as the last two years but I still enjoyed it.

Wow, my total was 156. That's a new record for me. I think a number of things combined to create a perfect storm effect to help me achieve that number. Lots of good films, lots of bad ones too, but only a few unbearably bad. Definitely a very fun and rewarding challenge this year!

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 12th Annual October Horror Movie Challenge (Oct 1-31) Pt

Challenge was awesome this year. I think the discussion being a bit slower allowed me more time to focus on movie watching rather than worry about getting behind in posts. Nice break from the occasional madness.

Gigantic thanks to Chad for still piloting this crazy ship; and big thanks to ALYXSTARR for hosting films; Trevor for enduring Species marathon with me so I didn't have to suffer alone; also to SterlingBen for more great beer suggestions; Seth for the video reviews (and to many other video reviewers that took the time). Hamilton Books, Diabolik and other sponsors for making this all the more exciting. ...And I could go on and on, but

As for me, my list is complete. I did really good with first time views. And apparently this year 1970 was my preferred decade. And I did manage to watch only theme movies for each theme day.

NUMBERS:
Total Watched = 132
Total First Time Views/Listens = 102

FORMATS:
(BD) Blu-ray Disc = 72
(UHD BD) 4K/Ultra Hi-Def Blu-ray Disc = 1
DVD = 19
VHS = 1
Streaming (Hulu/Netflix/Amazon Instant/YouTube/ALYXSTARR) = 39

DECADES:
1930 = 5
1940 = 3
1950 = 5
1960 = 5
1970 = 35
1980 = 21
1990 = 16
2000 = 10
2010 = 32

Seconded! A record number of subset movies for me this challenge thanks to alyxstarr.

Big thanks as always to Chad for hosting such a fun challenge year after year! Thanks to the sponsors for so many awesome prizes. I'm already looking forward to next year's challenge.

Despite my zombie like status for most of the month, I really did have an awesome time. I loved our discussion thread interactions, and perhaps the slower pace (about half usual?) helped me watch more this year.

I'm done with my limited stats, but might finish my decades if work is slow tomorrow.

I went back to find out which movie this was. Not sure why I gave this the lowest rating of the month considering there were far worse movies I saw (I should replace it with Headless Eyes)

List finalized, btw.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 12th Annual October Horror Movie Challenge (Oct 1-31) Pt

Finished my list. I started off hot but really slowed down at the halfway mark. But I will be back next year bigger, stronger and harder to kill.

Only got to 71 movies. Using 1 wildcard.
50 FTVs. So that was nice.
BD: 32 │ DVD: 29 │ VOD: 10

I never really appreciated how much it was until I opened mine either. It was a pretty amazing thing to unbox.

I just got done finalizing my list. I completed the checklist and theme nights and ended up with 113 entries, 112.5 of which were first time watches. Somehow the only favorites I rewatched this year were They Live but with the commentary that I had never heard before and one of my favorite episodes of Millennium where there is a serial killer going around re-enacting kills from horror movies which included one during a KISS concert, another killing Paul Stanley who was playing a sleazy b-horror director, and Gene Simmons playing a crazy homeless guy. All in all it was another very fun horror challenge and I am already looking forward to next year's. Maybe by then I will have more time to participate in the threads.

My full stats:

Formats:

Blu-ray - 42 entries
Streaming - 42 entries
TV/DVR/On Demand - 21.5 entries
DVD - 6.5 entries
Theater - 1 entry

First Time Watches: 112.5/113 (99.6%)
Total Time Spent Watching: 175 hours 27 minutes
Average Entry Length: 93 minutes
Number of Entries Watched with Commentary: 1

Just got back in the country last night. Finalized my list.
A paltry 67 entries.

Rough October this year. Lost power for days. My car broke down. And I was out of the country for the last few days of the month. At least the resort had a fun little Halloween celebration.
I look forward to trying to do better next year.

Thanks for the organization, Chad. And thanks to the sponsors for the support.

My list is also finalized, and I also ended up with 67 entries. I would have watched more if not for family obligations and dealing with a flea infestations which is thankfully under control. I'm pretty sure finding fleas on my cats was more horrifying than anything I watched all month!

My list is now finalized, thanks to all the sponsors for their generosity and Chad for hosting another horror challenge and anyone else that helped too such as Alyxstarr. Congrats to all those that have won prizes so far and hoping next year I'll be able to participate more in the discussions.

Lists are due 11/7.

This is if you wanna be eligible for certain prize categories -- 50 & under, 100 & under, the optional lists, and whatever else I'm probably forgetting.

Winners Addresses are due 11/10.

***Please don't abandon this thread immediately after Halloween!*** I'll also post the winners on the Facebook page, but don't rely on the post to make it to your news feed/wall. Check the OHMC Page directly.

If you already own some of the prizes, let me know and I'll see what I can do. As usual, no guarantees I can accommodate your request.

And as usual I forgot to mention this, but it would be appreciated if you could put how many challenges you've participated in. That makes configuring the '5 or More' and '10 or More' categories a less daunting task.

I forget how many challenges I've done, but I want to say this was my 11th.
