Assume that all of these are available to all customers unless specifically listed as member only like the Welcome Package. Also remember that any preliminary codes are just that and BN could pull it, change the details or exclusions anything prior to release so always a bit of YMMV until the final release date

It's the worst. Luckily Deep Discount seemed to prove to be helpful and are sending out a replacement. That will be the most painless experience I've had with their service department to date.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 12th Annual October Horror Movie Challenge (Oct 1-31) Pt
I've finally taken the plunge and started watching The Walking Dead on Netflix. I've seen the first 3 episodes this month, and while so far it seems nothing too special, friends recommend I stick with it as they say the show does get better, and the characters become likable.
You're not alone. I got a few seasons in and gave up when I noticed the formula for each season was "Travel as a group to a new location that already has survivors. Some of those guys are good people and some are trying to take over. Conflicts get resolved. Repeat.
I gave it to my daughter as she'd started watching with S2 and said she likes the program. She's still watching as the grandkids will mention it occasionally (she apparently lets the 5yo watch so it can't be too bad/scary).
I've never read the comic but it comes highly recommended by the LCS manager.

I purchased the first season to sample the series when Amazon had it for $5. I didn't care for it at all. In addition to what you guys have said, I thought it had huge lapses in logic and character motivation. Things occurred that defy normal behavior and reason. Continuity errors abound. I didn't bother with S2 onward.

If you saw a couple of the big scenes from the most recent episode, you might be rethinking that.

Because in those earlier years of HBO and cable, almost all popular movies wound up being shown on TV. Even if they were shown on HBO they'd make their way to broadcast TV at some point. Many people liked that as R rated films were "cleaned up" for TV broadcast. That allowed them to see those films in a more acceptable version. Even if it hadn't been picked up by a major network it'd have been edited for late night Horror Host type programs who were always looking for new offerings.

I read that the plot of 3 is unrelated to the other films in the series due to the absence of Michael Myers. So... Promotion? Homage? Or being "unrelated" means it's a different universe so the first 2 movies are the inspiration for the goings on in 3 since they didn't actually happen?

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 12th Annual October Horror Movie Challenge (Oct 1-31) Pt
Their mom (my daughter) frequently lets them watch stuff I feel is age inappropriate. I'm surprised when the 5yo comes in saying she watched certain TV shows with mom (like Walking Dead) - but then grandma (my wife) watches stuff like CSI with her and the other two (10 & 13) and has for years so... The 5yo may be headed towards a career as a doctor/surgeon as she *loves* to watch that kind of stuff. But I think some of CSI is a bit much for younger kids - especially the 10 year old who's still frightened by the old Universal horror films. She's tried to watch Frankenstein with her brother and me a few times but doesn't make it too far before bailing on us. Because of that I've not even asked her to watch Dracula or The Wolf Man as I feel those are more intense than Frankenstein. Her brother (the 13yo) and I have watched all three as well as a few others. I started him on them when he was ~8, the age I was when I discovered horror films, and he's really enjoyed them. I've been considering watching Alien with him.

I'm behind on reading the comments so I apologize if someone else has suggested this. I don't recommend movies a lot but I want to recommend Dead Silence. It was directed by James Wan and written by Leigh Whannel (which makes it a checklist item). It also fits today's theme and it is available on Netflix Streaming if you have Netflix. I won't go into the movie so that you can go in blind if you want but I found it very intelligent and enjoyable.

Where can I watch this?
Don't think it's streaming anywhere. I have the 88 Films Region B Blu-ray. They do have Black Magic on YouTube from their Shaw Brothers Universe site for $1.99, which is a buck cheaper than Amazon.

Shaw Brothers? I just streamed Out of the Dark on Netflix and it was really obnoxious; at times it flirted with being a light spirited mix of humor and zany horror but, while the Leon the Professional reference on the title had my early interest, it ended up being like a dumb asian 'Scary Movie' parody film. I think if I expected this sort of thing going it I might have enjoyed it more.

My Herschell Gordon Lewis Feast set today came in, that is a thing of beauty - I had wanted the movies so didn't pay much attention to the packaging so was very surprised to see...

Same here! Didn't expect so much quality and attention to detail with the 'cheaper' set. It certainly eased the regret of not getting the $250 set for me.

Takashi Miike's meta Over Your Dead Body was a real chore to get through. This is one I probably would appreciate more on a second viewing when in the right mindset and not challenge-cramming. At this point in the game I'm officially done taking risks without doing some homework beforehand.
Currently in the middle of a Conjuring double feature. So much better than the Insidious films.
It's a blast. Very atmospheric throwback horror that takes place primarily in a mausoleum. Perfect for Halloween viewing. Supposedly there's also a remake in the works.

Indulged in a Mummy triple feature tonight. In chronological order I watched The Mummy (1932), The Mummy (1959), and finally The Mummy (1999). Interesting what bits the remakes kept and changed. Certainly one constant is the tragic romance, which presumably will be kept intact for the Tom Cruise Mummy remake due in 2017 (it's been 18 years (geez) since the Sommers' Mummy, so I guess we're due).

The series wasn't meant to be about Myers until everyone cried when he wasn't in the 3rd. The series was going to have different stories, like what they do on TV with things like Goosebumps, only rated R movies instead.

Address sent, thanks! I should be well-stocked for next October and the B-movie challenge besides!
Thanks for the tip on Hatchet, which I'm not familiar with. I'll try it!
And I'm cautiously optimistic about the Cubs, but all my years of following them have been a unique kind of horror challenge, so we'll see.

Loved the film. Very underrated and freaky.
They should have just called this film something else. It was kind of hard to get through. When you saw the first two and getting ready for #3 and hoping for a good slasher, this was highly disappointing and a totally different pace. I can see why it bombed in the theaters. Why do people even like this film nowadays?

I started watching Bait (2012) last night but the late nights have finally caught up with me and had to go to bed early. I'm pretty excited to finish this one today as it's moving along pretty well. I had caught snippets of this one on SyFy over the years, but never knew the name.
