Assume that all of these are available to all customers unless specifically listed as member only like the Welcome Package. Also remember that any preliminary codes are just that and BN could pull it, change the details or exclusions anything prior to release so always a bit of YMMV until the final release date

Mini FAQ
Coupons should not work for PREORDERS , Nook, Legos, Rosetta Stone, Digital, Gift Cards, Memberships, etc. There are glitches where sometimes an excluded item will be allowed but assume that is the exception to the rule

Max 3 GC on a single online order.
Online only a single code can be applied to an order

For today's theme movie, I took the opportunity to watch a Godzilla movie. The next movie on my Godzilla list, was also on the linked list, so I watched Godzilla vs The Sea Monster, on Salsa Warriors. I appreciate whoever pointed that Roku Channel out to me as I really enjoy it.

I have a few to go and I know the movies for most of them but I'm getting stuck on 2 remaining actors. It's a choice between stuff I've already seen and not really in the mood to watch again or people that accept every $0 budget and 0 star review horror movie that comes their way.

I just hit my goal of 100 with actually a second movie for today's theme without even trying. I was in the mood to watch some kaiju, so I broke out my War Of The Monsters set, and just finished Return Of The Giant Monsters, aka Gamera vs Gaos. This monster seemed like one of the deadlier monsters in the Showa Gamera series, owing particularly to a laser beam Gaos shot out of his mouth that cut into Gamera, drawing blood like a knife, or a scalpel. Gamera apparently bleeds green.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 12th Annual October Horror Movie Challenge (Oct 1-31) Pt

I finally opened my "Fox Horror Classics Collection - Volume 2" and find myself wondering how this group of films wound up together in a horror collection as only *one* received a "horror" classification at IMDB. It contains:

Chandu the Magician (1932) - Allmovie says it's "a veritable rollercoaster ride of thrills and terror" but it has no horror tag there either.
Dragonwyck (1946) - has a "thriller" tag and is considered a gothic thriller but thrillers aren't always horror.
Dr. Renault's Secret (1942) - the only "horror" film in the set.

I'm about to start Chandu...

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 12th Annual October Horror Movie Challenge (Oct 1-31) Pt

Behind on my recaps again:

Bride Of Re-Animator - Seems this one played it safe for some reason. I wonder why? Nowhere near and fun or interesting as the original.

Murder Party - First effort from the same writer/director of Green Room and Blue Ruin. This movie is a lot of fun with some great, dry humor and I definitely recommend it. No as intense as his other two movies but it is astonishing that he went from this movie and then did Blue Ruin.

Jersey Shore Massacre - I know, I know...what was I thinking. But I thought this was from the same people who did Girls Gone Dead so I was hoping it would at least be an semi-enjoyable send-up like that one was. It's not. In fact, JSM is terrible. It takes FOREVER to get moving and by the time they start killing characters, you were bored with it 45 minutes prior. A little nudity but it isn;t even good.

Killer Klowns From Outer Space - For some reason it has taken me several views to appreciate this movie but finally I do. And I looks forward to revisiting it again soon. Great practical effects and an imaginative story.

Porkchop - Another slasher killing kids in the woods. But wait, this one has some off the wall humor and dialogue in it that you have not seen from a movie made for 50 bucks before. It's worth checking out if you like extremely low budget slashers with a wink in their eye. And it has a talking, smart-aleck robot. It's worth checking out just for that.

Death Ship - Would have been better titled Ghost Ship, but whatever. Not great but not terrible. Great shower scene and the whole movie gave me a Bioshock vibe. I kept expecting a Big Daddy to show up at any minute.

Possession - Holy Crap! What the fuck did I just watch? Probably one of the most intense performances from three actors in one movie I have ever seen. I felt weird when this movie was over. Actually it was the same way I felt after I saw Eraserhead the first time. And both movies feel like cousins somehow. I want to go ahead and request this as a subset for next year so I can read some discussion on it. I watched it last night and it had me thinking about it all morning. That is the sign of a good flick and I think it will only get better with more viewings.

Blood Diner - Damn this movie is awesome. I had to put this on after Possession last night because I needed the exact opposite of Possession. Blood Diner has so much nudity that you will think you are watching a Playboy video with a lot of gore. Add in an awesome doo-wop 50's type soundtrack, some hilarious dialogue and some strange line delivery and you have Blood Diner. Watch it, live it, love it.

Rocky Horror Picture Show: Let's Do The Time Warp Again - Recent TV movie version of the famous musical. I am not a big fan of the movie but I appreciate it and enjoy it. This, on the other hand, was dreck and I recommend skipping it completely and just putting on the original.

Dracula (1931) - My appreciate for this movie grows every time I see it. Atmosphere, atmosphere, atmosphere. I can see why it scared the piss out of audiences when it was originally released.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 12th Annual October Horror Movie Challenge (Oct 1-31) Pt

Yesterday, I got together with a couple friends and my sister to carve pumpkins. Afterward, we went to a screening of The Brain That Wouldn't Die by the Oklahoma City Film Club. The version screened was from a 2011 television special hosted by Count Gregore, an Oklahoma-based horror host. The Count was in attendance and told several stories about his experiences. My sister isn't a fan of horror films, so I had to reassure her that the film wasn't scary before she would go. Everyone had a wonderful time!

One of my friends is a huge fan of the original and told me the same thing. She was very excited to watch it, but she was disappointed. I ended up missing the broadcast, and now I'm glad I did. I had high hopes because FOX's Grease program was very good (if sanitized).

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 12th Annual October Horror Movie Challenge (Oct 1-31) Pt

Today's subset film is in the books, and now it's time to watch No. 99 and put the checklist to bed. I'm getting ready to start REC 4. It will be a first-time view and will take care of the final writer and language checks that I need.

Not sure if I'll have a chance to squeeze in another movie for the big 100. If not, I will have the chance to get there tonight with some TV viewing. This month has just flown by. I can't believe we're already approaching the end.

I'm pretty happy overall, two duds and two pretty cool items, hopefully. The duds, only because I own them or better versions already, were the barebones Midnight Madness edition of Children of the Corn, and the BD/DVD/digital multipack of Purge.

Then I got what appears to be a limited release Indy called Dolly Deadly. The case is signed by the director.
https://www.amazon.com/Dolly-Deadly-...s=Dolly+deadly

And then a HorrorPack exclusive (different cover art ?) of Late Night Double Feature, which I think is also a month and a half before general release, at least according to Amazon. This looks perfect for anthology theme day.
https://www.amazon.com/Late-Night-Do...double+feature
I was actually going to post something to see if there is anything like that out there. In your opinion, is it worth it? And where can I subscribe if it is?

Surprised Shock Factory doesn't put this out with a lot of features. With no additional content, not worth the double dip.

Watched Halloween remake again after a few years. Watching it, I get the hate because it isn't John Carpenter, but if this was just a regular movie, I think it would have faired better with reviews by others. You have an all-star horror cast and a pretty interesting story, for the most part. And in a 2 hour film (Director's Cut), his wife is in what, 15 minutes max in it?

I haven't even plugged any titles into this year's checklist. I think just sticking to subsets and themes on designated days is enough for me to worry about. I don't remember how I've finished the checklist before while sticking to only theme days... Maybe the last Saturday I fit any remaining checklist items with the theme being one theme movie and a "Watch Whatever" marathon for the day.

I'm curious about this too. I looked at a few months of "unboxing" and every month I had at least two titles, and then a lot of the titles I didn't have were at Dollar General for $1.99. But from what Trevor reports it seems they're getting popular enough to include exclusives.

I did email HorrorPack a month ago asking if there's any way to trade Blu-ray titles I already have for the DVD counterpart in the DVD HorrorPack, or if there's anything that could be done with doubles. They answered promptly and said what I expected (nothing can be done, esp. logistically). It's nothing negative, just a matter of if the (possibly) three remaining titles I don't have are worth the cost for that month.

If anyone is interested, here is their response (nothing unexpected):

Spoiler:
Unfortunately, we don't have the ability to swap out discs - we only buy the titles that we send out each month. Some of our customers have large collections and they have been giving out any doubles that they receive as gifts, or you can trade them in at stores like Game Stop for credit. Some of our customers sell the doubles on ebay and effectively cover most of the cost of their packs.

Unfortunately, the problem with keep tracking of everyone's movies is that it doesn't make logistical sense for our business model to manage all of our customers collections like that. In the upcoming months, the main value for people who have large collections will be the limited editions and titles with custom artwork that can't be obtained anywhere but from our pack. Thanks for your interest. Let me know if I can answer any other questions.

Sorry. Didn't think about that. 1981 film directed by Andrzej Zulawski with actors Sam Neill and Isabelle Adjani.

Don't do it!! I ignored the checklist for a couple weeks and got lots of checks by default, but then just looked ahead and planned a couple checks each day around the theme.

We have a thread about it here:
http://forum.dvdtalk.com/hd-talk/634...ption-box.html

Make sure you use a $3 discount code if you do try it. I just did the one month and then cancelled. I might try it again someday, depending on how the word of mouth and unboxing videos go. Lots of videos on YouTube if you want to see all the past months.

Eh, I wouldn't call those two movies that Parade Deck Films http://www.paradedeckfilms.com/ put out as exclusive. It's more of them trying to spread the word. I noticed on amazon, they have a shill reviewer for just their movies. Completely generic "reviews", all with 4-5 star ratings. Maybe they'll be able to sell a copy or two and get their website unsuspended.

Reinforces my decision to cancel for now, thanks. For $20 I'm ok with two gifts and two middling films, and if I had a smaller collection I could probably justify the cost.

I know I mentioned it in past challenges, but with another viewing of the Director's Cut of Halloween 2 by Zombie, it actually holds up to be a decent film. There's still some plot holes (how Laurie can see both young Michael and the mother, Michael not being super natural anymore and talking/showing his face, and the annoying white horse thing) but as far as character development goes, it's good. There's a lot of time that is used to show Laurie's breakdown and the aftermatch. It's probably the first movie where he shows actual growth and really taking the time to develop characters. I still think, had this been called any other movie without the Halloween name, it would be more well received.

Perks of having a Japanese wife

Spoiler:
Before anyone says I don't know how to pour; some of the feedback I got last year was for more head. Also more foam looks more interesting in the smaller photos on my list

And yes, voting for whether or not this tradition should continue takes place after the challenge in the feedback thread.

I sorted Lugosi on imdb based on horror and Chandu came up for the checklist.
