Does anyone have any thoughts on the 1959 film The Monster of Piedras Blancas? It's on sale at Amazon for $12.99 for Prime members.

I absolutely loved The Witch, and am incredibly excited to see it again for a third time during the challenge! It's definitely had a divided reception, but I strongly encourage people to check it out. I personally felt this is one of the best horror films ever made.

I thought it was pretty good last time I watched it (actually it was more along the lines of: Hey, this is a lot better than I thought it'd be). It's not a classic, minor classic or cult classic but there's plenty worse out there. You can get a taste from archive.org and judge for yourself -- The Monster of Piedras Blancas

I'm tempted by 12.99; if it were 9.99 or less it would already be on order.

Thanks cb! Yeah, seems up my alley, but $13 is too high with no extras now that I look closely. But I'll watch it online next month, thanks for that link!

Just as well; I noticed this looking at the Amazon page:

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 12th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/

I pulled my movies-to-watch last weekend and made a stack and once again I have too many to realistically watch in October. I did pull out a few yesterday that looked like they'd be hard to sit through without pushing the fast forward button. I'll save those for a non-challenge viewing. For this countdown week I pulled a lot of horror movie documentaries as a warm up. "Birth of the Living Dead", "Never Sleep Again", etc.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 12th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/

For the first year since I started subscribing to Netflix, I have finally cancelled my disc rental plan. Usually I just have the 1 at time plan, but in October, I'll usually upgrade to the 3 at a time for the month. However, my stack of movies I want to watch, as well as the ones I haven't watched from my collection has so much already, I doubt I'd even watch whatever I rented from Netflix.

Wasn't sure if anyone would be interested, but it was cool to see Chad and you all create this thing. Nice to see such continuity on the forum, with many of you here every year of the Challenge so far! And Darth, thank you so much for forcing me to watch a specific film every day in October for ten years now!

I was just looking at all my documentaries. Most of them involve franchises where I either haven't seen every film, or I haven't seen them in years, so my OCD compels me to "prepare" for the docs by watching all the films first. Counting all of the special features, I bet I have over 100 hours of content on the Halloween franchise alone.

I have a similar problem when browsing the streaming queues of Netflix and Amazon Prime. I end up adding 50 or more titles to each, leaving no time to watch my purchased physical discs.

Re: 100 Movies. 31 Days. The 12th Annual "October Horror Movie Challenge" (10/1 - 10/

Always enjoy my last few days without horror for the challenge. I'll be checking out the new Magnificent Seven this week and a few other blu-rays and DVDs that I bought from a local video store closing down. I've spoiled myself recently with LOTS of buys including stuff from the Halloween bin here at Dollaramas in Canada. I'll be doing some video updates via my YouTube channel for the very first time this year. Pretty stoked, but I won't be watching any horror before Friday.

So happy, too, that this year we get to start on a weekend. Looking forward to try and top my recent scores and see far more this time. I'm going to really push it when I can.

As if they knew we all "needed" it for our upcoming subset choice, Amazon just dropped the price on the multi-format Krampus to $10, https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1

That show is where I first saw most of the Universal Horror films - uncut!

Here's a link to a list of what aired on which night. I often wish some of those program tapes survived.

Here's the open:

This actually brings back a lot of memories. My brother and I would drag a small B&W TV under the bed and we would stay up watching the double features. I was supposed to be too young to watch them. I remember my mother chasing my brother around the house with a broom, because he would 'force' me to watch these horror movies and then I would have the nightmares. Good times!

Other stores too, that don't require a subscription. Best Buy has it at the same price. Prime exclusive prices of things I want are usually the same price elsewhere.

For your history lesson, you should look through people's lists. There was some odd stuff in the early days, like WCW events and E.T., which got brought up again a few years later with Wizard of Oz.

Those are some great prize packs but I noticed those non-horrors slipped into #4. I'm still working on the books I got a couple years ago from one of these big packs.
I actually wanted to make it ALL non-Horror but I didn't have enough other stuff left. I figured some folks might need a horror free pack after 30 days of a horror binging!

Yeah, there was so much fun and frustrating stuff in those threads, but mainly I enjoyed the sense of shared history I got as I read along. I skipped around and mainly just focused on where the parts that "hooked me" were formed.

But if someone was interested and industrious, they could probably go through all the threads chronologically and create a condensed history. I'm too obsessed with minutiae and nostalgia for the task, it'd get unwieldy large by the third year.

My set of A Haunting arrived today. I couldn't pass it up for 6 seasons at under $11. Couldn't wait till Friday to open it, so watching an episode right now.

I'm tempted by 12.99; if it were 9.99 or less it would already be on order.
I'd read this review (link to DVD Drive-In) and have been tempted. Thanks for that link! It'll help me decide.

Hmmm... for me it shows "In stock but may require an extra 1-2 days to process."

I've added a few to my Amazon queue due to all the talk here. Thing is I don't know when I'll get to them as I discovered I have far more physical copies of films than I'll get to this year. I still have stuff I "purchased' (used those digital credits) from Amazon over the past couple of years I've yet to watch. "Free" stuff I added for last year, but never got around to watching, have dropped off Amazon at the moment and there are more that *will* drop off before long... I really need to retire and tell my family to leave me alone for a few months so I can catch up...

If you want, I'll let you go through every list and compile a master list of everything ever watched with the count of how many times people have watched it. I'd actually be really interested in seeing that list.

Hope things are better. I just ran across your bad movie list because I finished The Executioner II.

Now I have to go through and check stuff
